  1. I don't think you really get the issue here. The problem is not so much mergers, though I question the logic of the extant of some of the mergers. It is how this has been handled. This is going to affect a far larger number of people than the previous Free Character Transfers and it is being done tomorrow forcibly to thousands of customers.
  2. Yes, but at this rate that's the majority of the players. We are going down to a total of 20 servers, in some cases 20 servers are being merged into 1 and in many of those cases a number of those servers currently have very large populations on them. Take Canderous Ordo for instance it hasn't seen a light population since launch. So with that many servers, even if your name on Canderous Ordo is not taken on Jedi Covenant, what if it is taken on Kaas City? Who gets to keep the name and who doesn't?
  3. Actually none of your characters will be deleted if you have more than 12 (the new slot cap) you will keep all of your characters you just won't be able to create any new ones unless you delete down to less than 12.
  4. I don't think the problem is seeing the people as much as it is competing for the quest resources like you have to on Ilum or in the Black Hole. Even with a full group I find I have to wait for the clickables to respawn far too often.
  5. There are a lot of problems though, because not only are the previously announced origin servers closing, but so are a number of the previously intended destination servers. I've got characters on Canderous Ordo, a destination server in the last round of free transfers and I'm being forcibly moved to Jedi Covenant now, where I will lose most of my names.
  6. Check the server matrix here. http://www.swtor.com/transfer#servers-list
  7. I don't think that will happen a few devs have said that they are not going to consolidate "unlike" servers.
  8. It is unclear, here is what the FAQ says In the High population test server names were granted by age of character (or so it appeared), but that wasn't not a consolidation of existing servers, so it is hard to know how it will work out in the end. Given the huge number of servers being consolidated, names are going to become a scarce commodity.
  9. If they knew this was coming they should have been proactive. They should have known that merging all of these servers, and not just the ones that have been locked, but servers that were free transfer destinations like Canderous Ordo, would result in monumental naming problems. My names are by and large creative, but I stand to lose the bulk of them in this transfer. Especially if age of character plays no role. What they should have done, was revamp the naming system first. Decouple surnames from the Legacy system, and then make it so that character only needed a unique first and surname combination rather than a unique first name.
  10. Yep, me too. I can't believe how poorly conceived this idea was.
  11. I doubt it, though that would be amazing as I would get some of my names back from previous moves.
  12. I can't help but feel this was done on purpose, give us less than 1 day to scream and rant before the deed is done. Sadly they are going to push away a number of customers with this. Once again they show such poorly thought out decision making skills and a complete disregard for what their customers might want.
  13. Well it has answers in the case of The answer is vague, but in the case of It is straight forward.
  14. I may well do the same thing. Broken camels backs here... They continue to f' things up by being retroactive rather than proactive. If they knew they were going to do this, they should have fixed the naming system altogether to allow for both first and last names to be non-unique. This is just one more area they have failed to see the big picture.
  15. If it works like it did with their test high pop servers it went by how long the person had the name. Granted in that case things were different we weren't being forced onto an existing server.
  16. The easiest way to figure things out. Check out this matrix, if you're not on one of the servers with big names to the right of the list, you're getting moved. http://www.swtor.com/transfer#servers-list
  17. The biggest problem with this huge consolidation is the number of people who are going to lose their names. If it had been simply forcing the locked servers to transfer it would have effected far fewer people (still sucked though), but now thousands will lose their names. Bioware needs to give us non-unique first names now too. They need to overhaul the entire nameing system it is so fing broken at this point it is not even funny.
  18. Not according to the consolidation Matrix, even Canderous Ordo is getting consolidated and it was already super high pop..
  19. Actually no! Look at this matrix http://www.swtor.com/transfer#servers-list
  20. Thanks, great looks like I'm losing all of my toons names I just checked my new destination server.
  21. Is this only forcing the Free transfer options to happen or are the server break downs going to be different than those options? I.e. If I had a character on Krayt Dragon is it now going to be on Shadwolands? Or are the servers getting further consolidated? Edit: I also assume this means that F2P is coming soon?
  22. Yep it would be good to know when Cathar are coming and when more slots are coming too. I fear both might come when f2p hits and both will be things we are charged for.
  23. If you've read a great deal of this thread you'll see that the vocally upset people here have tried to claim that the Legacy name = the Cryptic @name. This is likely why people "hit you from all sides". The other side of that coin is that many of us have also said, hey an @name in SWTOR would be cool, especially if it comes with the ability to have separate surnames for each character like it does in Cryptic games.
