  1. Project damage IS instant, as I recall. As is stock strike. Don't look at when the numbers appear, look at your enemies' health bar. Lots of abilities work this way.
  2. There is no better way to challenge yourself than to pit yourself against another human being. For this reason, I enjoy competition of all kinds. Sports (though I can't play myself), boardgames, trivia games, video games, card games, it doesn't matter. In all competition, the draw is to go out there and see how good you are, see how you can improve, see what you can learn, and really measure yourself. You learn how to win, and more importantly how to lose. You learn how to be gracious to your opponents. You learn how to be philosophical about loss. You learn how to bolster and support your team-mates, and even your opponents. You learn how to study something and become good at it, then great. Over time you develop your own strategies, so it's a thinking exercise as well. Competition of all kinds teaches sportsmanship, one of the most important concepts in life. The thrill of victory, the agony of defeat. The last second win against impossible odds. The drama. The reasons PvP is popular is the same reason sports are popular, or boxing, or poker tournaments, or any other competitive event. And as you compete, if you do it right, you better yourself, not just in your skills but in the kind of person you are. True, some people let it get personal, some people take it too far, some people use it as a way of showing dominance over others. Pathetic, but it happens. There's always a bigger fish. But even some of these people will learn how to win and how to lose gracefully with time. In the end, if you're good, you won't need to tell people. Your actions will speak for themselves. Every loss is a lesson, and every lesson makes us better.
  3. I have heard rumors this can be reliably reproduced, but cannot confirm it. It's a terrible bug, though.
  4. Eh, I have no problem with it at current. The idea is to clear one of the doors, then plant. If you're sneaky you can plant without a clear. As to disarming, you're pretty much supposed to lose the door if they ever get the bomb on it. Disarming is a pleasant surprise and last ditch effort. The one thing I would say is that DoTs interrupting capping can go. Especially since my scoundrel has a DoT that lasts about 20 seconds. It's hilarious when people try to cap near me.
  5. People like you don't seem to understand that if you had all the features of WoW at launch your dev cycle would be 9 or 10 years. It's not that they don't KNOW HOW to do these things, it's that there's not time or manpower to put it all in at launch.
  6. This is why you don't have a holiday release of an MMO along with a seven day head-start. People get the feeling you should be slaving away during Christmas and the week after launch instead of taking vacation like everyone else. It honestly is as much their fault as the fault of people who rail at them for not fixing every single thing in the game in the first month.
  7. That's disgusting. I hope to God you're not on my server. If you think having a bunch of 10s and 30s is an auto-loss, you must be awful.
  8. "Demands", lol. I made a post similar to this one on class balance. I will say, I have seen population incentives work fairly well in other games. Usually an XP bonus or rested gain bonus, which doesn't really imbalance anything.
  9. Well at least 1 in 100 players are willing to man up and fight their way to sweet, sweet victory.
  10. *Yawn* I wouldn't be terribly surprised with a slight toning down, but not nearly as much as you seem to expect. Look forward to being burned down by operatives for many months to come.
  11. Broski! You and I should hang out sometime, I love guarding and peeling for healers, and watching as my team steamrolls everything afterward!
  12. The one thing I've learned about PvP: most players are completely unwilling to consider that their own skill may be the reason they're losing.
  13. Hey, it's the guy who took the time to express his point in more than one sentence, in contrast to me. All excellent points. If Bioware had made their own engine, we'd probably be seeing "SWTOR: Coming Spring 2013." Crafting an engine from scratch is a gigantic undertaking.
  14. I hate to say it, but a standard appearance tab along with standard loot systems, with rarer loot having more slots would've fixed most of the crafting and itemization problems that now exist. I guess this is what you get when you completely change the item system like a month before launch.
  15. Translation: I know nothing about software or game construction, but I certainly still have an opinion on it!
  16. You have officially entered the realm of paranoid delusion. Do you also believe the moon landing was fake?
  17. 50s are certainly a problem in a single bracket, and the devs have agreed. They have stated that a 50 only bracket is in the works. This guy is saying the time is getting close. Wherein lies the problem?
  18. Did he say it was? People post their opinions then the devs decide.
  19. I'm not saying Sorcerers are gods myself. In fact the original intent of the post is to say that a lot of the perceptions of classes being OP are, in my opinion, overblown. That said, I don't think the problem is any one ability, more that your PvP toolbox is so very deep. I agree that sorcerers probably need to be toned down just a bit.

It may not be the OP's fault, but not everyone is experiencing these issues. I have never seen a player rubber-band, I never have more than .25 seconds ability activation delay, and I can cc and interrupt with absolutely no problems.
  21. Sorry, fewer true CC, but a lot of snare, stun, knockback, and an interrupt to top it all off leads to a very big PvP toolbox. electrocute: Channeled Damage Stun overload: Knockback w/ possible root force lightning: damage + snare force slow: damage + snare jolt: interrupt whirlwind: 8 second breakable cc And it looks like I missed a couple I didn't even know about.
  22. So... Sorcerer is OP because they have a lot of CC and can put out the damage. Same for sniper. Competent melee, LOS, and interrupting rolls them. Vanguard is OP because they're hard to kill and can put out decent damage. Ranged DPS will ruin your day. Commando is OP because they're able to switch between healing and ranged damage at a moment's notice, and aren't cloth wearers. The same things that kill inquisitors kill them just as easily. Scoundrel and Shadow are OP because they do tons of burst followed by folding like superman on laundry day. A SCUD missile for a new age. Marauder is OP because it does excellent sustained damage but doesn't fold like a wet rag. Kiting and careful use of stuns will win you the day. Leaving...Juggernaut and Guardian I believe? I think we're doing pretty well on balance, actually. Edit: Sometimes get sith advanced class names wrong.
  23. Sorry, I should've said "They can't shoot *nearly as effectively* on the move."
  24. I don't intend to belittle your problems but I've GOT to think this is lag on your end or simple server lag. I'd say at most my abilities suffer a .25 second activation delay, sometimes, and I can quite easily interrupt most abilities before the cast bar is 1/4 full. Not for the first time, I wonder if some of these issues are *not* universal...
