  1. I love some of the Warzones in this game and I like how some of the classes play, but its obvious that GW2 is going to completely gut what remains of the pvp community. You get an even playing field in GW2 and you get more pvp gear customization. Why more customization? Because, you get to freely select from among different pvp gear sets which have more customization than what you find in this game. You can also win different looking gear "skins", so you also have variety in appearance. Why Bioware didn't setup Warzones like this is completely beyond me. I guess it doesn't matter any more, though. I'll be playing GW2 this weekend.
  2. Why specifically are shadows/sins better stealthers? I'd really appreciate it if someone did a detailed comparison of the two (maybe there is already such a comparison?).
  3. I agree that they need to add more warzones like Huttball, but maybe with some different mechanics. I think one really cool but hard warzone would involve doing some platforming to score the win. Could be insanely hard with all the knockbacks, though, so maybe they could add some "knockback immunity" powerups.
  4. You need to buy the battlemaster piece first before you can get the warhero piece. If you compare the cost of a piece to its expertise, you see that getting a bunch of smaller, cheaper pieces will give you the most expertise, and expertise is the most important thing to max when you are a fresh 50. edit: Also, the ratio to convert ranked back to warzone is actually 1:1 .
  5. You do this because it will allow you to buy most of your battlemaster gear as a fresh 50. I would rather do this than save those ranked comms for when I can eventually get warhero, becuase if you suffer a gear disadvantage you are going to be dying so much that it is unlikely you ever will get to warhero. Example: my fresh 50 started with close to 1,000 expertise because he saved warzone and ranked comms, then converted the ranked comms to warzone comms so he could buy 2ximplants, 1xreleic, 1x earpiece, bracers, and belt. He then filled in the remaining pieces with recruit gear. If I had planned a little better and got to 2,000 warzone and 3,500 ranked, I could have bought even more battlemaster gear.
  6. Each team's logo is plastered above its endzone. Do not run towards the endzone with your own team's logo.
  7. I also like to use the names of gods and goddess for characters. I have an IA named Inana after the Summerian goddess of love and war, a marauder named Thunner after the anglo-saxon god of Thunder (otherwise known as Thor in Old Norse), and a BH named Tammuz -- mostly because it sounds good. Problem with this method is that other players think the same way. I was actually surprised I was able to get some of the names I did.
  8. Sniper is not very mobile in any specc. If they are out of cover then they are a free kill. If they are in cover, then they are very hard to kill.
  9. Sniper/Gunslinger is fun and uses almost as many abilities as a marauder (I have a 50 for both), but they also spend much of their time sitting in cover. Either you will be left alone and then it will be EZ-mode getting top dps or people will focus you and you will die quickly. I think they work best on a good team that protects them and keeps the enemies focus off of them. Right now I've started a powertech and I find that while it is a lot easier to play than either my gunslinger or marauder, it is good at kiting. You also have the option of going melee or tank spec. I'm still low level, though, so I can't really say how good it will be at higher levels.
  10. Both require a large number of key binds. Sith Warriors generaly have the hardest resource management in the game and IAs have the second. Warriors need to be extremely mobile and stick to their targets, while Snipers can sit back in a single position and gun things down. They both can do good dps, though it is harder for non-smash marauders to top dps in pvp because they do not have good aoe attacks. On the other hand, if they are left unchecked, they can ruthlessly kill one target after another. The sniper also lacks good aoe untill they get their orbital strike and they also are good at gunning down one target after another. BTW, I have a 50 Gunslinger from when the game launched and a 49 marauder that I started recently.
  11. There is one simple fix that could help this problem: the final scoreboard should be sorted by objective points, not medals. That would ensure that all the lazy voters would vote for the guy who likely helped win the match. Some people will argue that you should vote for the healer first because they only get a few medals; I argue otherwise, because you get even fewer medals if you focus exclusively on objectives.
  12. Best: Tantooine, Taris (Empire only), and Voss Worst: Balsalvis, Correllia
  13. Biggest problem with marauder is the fact that there are a lot of people playing sages/sorcerers, including many inexperienced people. marauder is the natural foil to this class, so you can bet they will be qqing, especially the ones that fail to use the many awesome tools they get like that 20s knockback. I also think there are a few envious mercenaries, and honestly their class is pretty weak at the moment; on the other hand, tracer missile spam was just insanly easy to do and needed to be nerfed. I do agree, though, that marauder will see some nerfs, including: 1. Putting undying rage and force camo on longer timers. 2. Reworking Annihilation tree a bit, including a possible nerf to healing on bleeds (I haven't actually played this tree yet, so I can't really say) 3. Making ravage interruptible again, but maybe giving a talent in one of the trees to make it uninterruptible after a force leap or something like that. On the other hand, the suggestions to put force leap on a longer timer are just ludicrous. That would effectively make sith warriors/jedi knight usless. As it is, we can be knocked back on the leap.
  14. In voidstar you could pretty much just type "they are at the other door" and everyone would understand.
  15. It would be cool if voice chat was built into the game so that even pugs or randoms could use it. Every time you form a raid group or get put in a warzone que, you get access to a private channel.
  16. I agree completely with the OP and with Traugrim. Spending the end game grinding for gear is not fun. On the other hand, I wish there was better looking armor in this game.
  17. What they should do is get rid of expertise gear and make all gear available from FPs and operations also available from PvP. This includes the schematics and materials needed for high level crafting. They also should make orange gear with mods the best you can get in the game. This would allow people to have the look they want and still be competitive.
  18. They use gear bolster for levels 11-49, so it is not a factor. The real factor is what abilities you have access to. Because different classes come into their own at different levels, the level at which you will start feeling powerful will vary. A guardian at level 40 has most of his key abilities, so would start feeling strong at that point. I would even argue that they could put level 50s back in the 11-49 bracket and it would make no difference as long as they removed expertise and kept gear bolster in place. This is because most classes don't get that much in teh way of abilities from 49 to 50.
  19. I can understand why a long time pvper would be upset if Bioware took away expertise gear or used gear-bolster. It would mean all their effort was for nothing. On the other hand, the gear system is unfair for new pvpers and is likely turning people away from the game! Here is my solution: 1. Give pvp players pve-quality gear and eliminate the expertise gear from the game. The people who already have their gear would be able to replace it with comparable pve gear. If pve-people want to complain about how unfair this is, I would like to complain that fighting other humans is a lot more challenging than fighting scripted encounters, so maybe pvp players should get better quality gear 2. Use a gear-bolster system for the open 50 warzones. Allow gear in the Ranked Warzones. This would give new 50s a place to play casual pvp but allow dedicated pvpers to show their stuff in ranked warzones. Oh, and I would also replace purple gear with orange gear so that players can look the way they want to and still be competitive in either pvp or pve.
  20. The Territo is no troll. His exploits are freely available for all to see. I can understand how the chronically unskilled might feel jealous and resort to trolling, but real men (and their female equivilants) can only respect their betters. AS for those other mercs posting on this thread, I think this is a great opportunity for you to learn how to play your class. If I were you, I would subscribe to Territo's channel immediately.
  21. I didn't realize what you are saying is true, but you are probably right about this. I guess this means Bioware can just completely remove pvp gear sets from the game and let us use stuff we can easily make ourselves, buy on the AH, or get from doing dailies. Plus the pvp gear looks really bad; much prefer my oranges.

    Should I delay 50?

The ideal way to hit 50 is 1) Have Valor 49 and then hit valor 50 at 50 2) Buy one champion bag and have 1,000 warzone and 1,000 merc credits so you can buy another 5 (can only have one at a time, so you need to open them as you get them) 3) Join a pvp guild and run with a premade The way I hit 50 was 1) What's valor? I have level 1... is that good? 2) Warzone commendations? What are those? 3) Random pug for the win! Another solution is to just roll a bunch of alts, enjoy lower level pvp, and learn how all the other classes work. Eventually gear will be fixed.
  23. Yes, I agree. Open world pvp should be about people meeting out in the world and.. you know... pvping. Maybe have some actual cities they can take control of or real objectives that matter. Ilum is just a big gear/valor farm.
  24. My simple fix: allow cross faction alliances. this effectively creates a third faction and allows players to balance pvp on their own.
  25. The gear problem isn't just a matter of what is fair, it's actually a deeply flawed game mechanic. If pvp gear is there to prevent people in pve gear from dominating, then that means that the pvp gear will have to get better as pve gear does. If the gear isn't unbalancing now, it definitly will be in the future. At that point, it will become impossible for new players to get into pvp without spending months of grinding. If your game requires months of grinding to get to end game content (when you claimed your game has very little grind) you will alienate any new players. A better solution would be to just use bolster so that regardless of what gear someone enters pvp with, everyone is roughly equal as far as gear goes.
