  1. I agree with the OP wholeheartedly. This thing has been bugging me ever since KotFE was released, as well. I would rather they kept to the original Empire vs. Republic, Jedi vs. Sith setting, instead of this foolish "grey Zakuul" and "both light and dark" nonsense. It isn't Star Wars.
  2. Yup, ran into this guy too. Kind of puzzling, I was always under the impression that Voss mostly stick to their own homeworld and only rarely venture out, let alone to a pirate haven.
  3. I don't like what they're doing with the Expanded Universe content. They should've left it all as it is in the first place instead of meddling with everything as if no amount of hard work was ever put into it. And as far as I'm concerned, they should clarify more candidly in their website and the social media as to what sections of the EU are still canon and what are not. It's all way too ambiguous right now. This game was years in development. If it was indeed declared non-canon, I think that'd be a huge slap in the face of the team, because what it would mean in effect is that all of that labour holds no intrinsic value in the story of Star Wars any longer; it's just another "legend."
  4. I agree that it'd be pretty asinine to start charging subscribers, who previously had those armor sets before they were removed, now through the CM. I'm a pretty regular customer of the CM, but those outfits are something that I'd never buy as a subscriber.
  5. Declaring the vast majority (if not all of it) of the Expanded Universe as non-canon is an asinine slap in the face of all the work and effort that was put into constructing it, and bringing it forth to the fans to enrich and explore the never ending story that is Star Wars. It's also very ironic and awkward that they do this when they have added so many influences and direct characters, organizations and factions from the Expanded Universe into the TV series The Clone Wars, which is still considered canon (the Death Watch and Darth Bane to name a few). George Lucas has most definitely contradicted himself and betrayed the values he has brought forth to the public by stealing many things from the Expanded Universe into the Clone Wars, and then declaring everything around it and the six films as non-canon. "People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians," my eye.
  6. Smugglers thrive on moving contraband from one place to another. The Sith Empire places overreaching restrictions on where one can travel and when, and what items one can traffic provided he or she has the proper clearance. More, Imperials tend to look down on the criminal element of society and very rarely opt to work with them. Think about this; if smugglers are indeed contracted by the Empire, there's still the omnipresent fear of repercussions that is effortlessly stronger than in the case of working for some other party like the Hutts or the Black Sun. The Republic on the other hand is willing to ignore whatever offenses the smugglers make in their daily endeavors so long as they further the Republic's war effort against the Empire and various other factions. In short, it's a far better deal for the majority of smugglers to be Republic-aligned than standing with the Empire.
  7. I got through these levels in one day by just rummaging through every single bonus quest, bonus series and side quest that came my way as I finished the class quests. It'd also help a lot if you occasionally take a shuttle back to the fleet and finish the daily flashpoint and warzone quests there. Also, remember to train your abilities as you level up, and get yourself the most up to date gear for both yourself and your primary companion.
  8. Is it possible by any stretch to add shotos for use in the future?
  9. Smuggler. It wasn't filled with your usual overblown, fantastical heroics like the JK storyline. Being an ordinary, run of the mill thug with patriotic fervor, and some great hilarity on the side.
  10. The events of this game take place over 3,600 years before those of the prequel and original trilogies. Based on my own observations on the history of the Star Wars universe leading up to the Clone Wars, Vitiate's Sith Empire isn't going to die in one major battle. Like Kreia predicted in the case of the Mandalorians, the Sith Empire will likely suffer a slow death despite many resurgences in the form of fallen Jedi, unifying Sith (or Imperial) warlords and so on. It's safe to assume that during this time, as the Galactic Republic swallows the remainders of Sith and Imperial space, it'll inevitably lead to some extent in efflorescence and exchange between the two cultures. Obi-Wan Kenobi speaks in an Imperial accent, but surely over the course of over three thousand years, no one is going to say or recognize that any longer. The same applies to governmental symbology. Palpatine, during the speech where he announced the formation of the Galactic Empire, wore his trademark red cloaks that had ancient Sith hieroglyphs, but very few senators were aware of that. Those that were aware of it (and the fact that Palpatine was in fact a Sith lord) kept quiet, like Bail Organa. Darth Ruin's Sith Empire, which would go on to live for another thousand years and end with the destruction of the Brotherhood of Darkness was founded from the remnants and isolated pockets of Vitiate's Sith Empire, and individual Sith cults and militias.
  11. How exactly does this affect your gameplay and immersion? Oh, wait. It doesn't. So stop whining.
  12. How and why you came to this conclusion escapes me. Besides, Imperial Intelligence as we knew it no longer exists at the time of Makeb/Oricon. It's been reformed into Sith Intelligence.
  13. All I'm trying to say is that Bioware should stop pushing the wild card and background of every new story chain to a bigger and bigger extreme. It's starting to look something like a futuristic version of Alice In Wonderland when they insert these supposedly terrifying monstrosities and giant mutant smurfs that all have the same evil intents of carrying out massive genocide and destruction for completely irrational and inadequate reasons. I'd like to see more down to earth -type of flashpoints, where you'd have to carry out political assassinations of ordinary sentients, and not unstoppable embers of muscle mass with a ridiculous amount of cybernetic implants wielding a massive cannon grek and so on. Alternatively, neutralizing a rogue Imperial warlord, where the objective would be to destroy his/her command vessel, or apprehending a crime syndicate leader who has corrupt senators in his/her pocket. Just ordinary stuff, not the overdone heroics.
  14. Does anyone else get the feeling that nearly every single storyline and major quest/flashpoint in the game revolves around the same, old things that repeat themselves time and time again? Apocalyptic, barren planets driven mad and inhospitable by dark side energy and ones that are in danger of cracking into two (Ilum and Makeb). Then, in every single class quest chain and elsewhere you have an already innumerable amount of weapons of mass destruction, insanely intricate hacking devices, massive battle droids with ten cannons, people with more and more horrifying war crimes and atrocities, giant worms with horns emerging out of some bizarre dark side void generated by Tron-esque technology cubes, and 8-feet tall mutant lizards with ridiculously big war axes that babble and mutter incomprehensible nonsense and threats in some monotone, pseudo-menacing voice. Bioware has to get back into basics when designing new storylines and planet concepts. Get a skriffing grip and hold your horses when you lay your ideas on the table. It doesn't all have to be about absolute destruction and desolation.
  15. Collective pride. Something which no one cares about in the Internet.
  16. Over the time that I've been playing on SWTOR (since launch), I've got the impression that the cardinal reason many people have come to abhor the game is the lack of community because of the dungeon/tunnel-like planetary environments that keep you on a single track, concentrated solely on your character and the story chain alone, coupled with the whole way the game's leveling process has been designed. My experience with Makeb only went on to reinforce that impression: it's a planet that is only designed to shoot you from level 50 to 55. You don't have to be a genius to figure that out. There are mobs at every single place you go, and no hotspots for socializing with the rest of the players. And that isn't restricted to Makeb. It's evident at nearly every single planet you go to. I recognize The Old Republic is a different game, and has a style and vibe of its own, but they should have used the open, expansive planetary environments of Star Wars Galaxies as an example. Despite all this, though, I can clearly see when comparing the state of the game from launch to what it is now that the developers have indeed listened to a major chunk of the pleas and suggestions of the player base.
  17. I think they made the right decision with this move.
  18. Yes! Please make this available on the Cartel Market. I've a Republic-aligned Mandalorian guild, and we're running short on T-visored helmets like this.
  19. I know we have now have access to Mandalore the Preserver's armour set on the Republic side, but I think another Mandalorian helmet and/or armor addition to the Cartel Market wouldn't hurt: something along the lines of the RD-17A Hellfire Helmet. You could do this by the sale of the blue themed Mandalorian armor you often see them wear in game: meaning this.
  20. I agree with the op. Charging twenty quid for a mere dye is atrocious. I can cope with 5-7 bucks, but the present cost is simply too much.
  21. There's many. Another one was shortly after launch when I rolled my first Republic-aligned character (smuggler) and arrived at Coruscant. The Senate building was quite awesome, and the whole environment there promised a great adventure.
