  1. Only tank spec that allows you to do decent to good damage is the Carolina Parakeet. But the spec is not optimal or even usable til level 48. I guess you'll have to stick with the typical shield tech build for leveling.
  2. TD is the key to burst damage of pyro. I'm pretty sure other threads meant that TD will reduce the sustained and overall DPS but not burst damage.
  3. I don't recommend using the Carolina Parakeet to level. But if you must, I would go with filling out Pyro tree first. But seriously, don't level with it or you'll cripple yourself. Go with a deep shield tech or pyro build then respec later (since respec cost is 0 assuming you never use it yet). I suggest go with a shield tech build to practice guard switching and taunt.
  4. Here's the link to Musume's spreadsheet: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=123306 I can't find the thread that shows the math associated with the DR.
  5. Carolina Parakeet is a tank hybrid build that trades some of its survivability (5% dr with 50% absorb) for massive boost in damage. A lot of other people forget that this is a tank hybrid build and expect it to perform just as well as other dps classes (given same gears and skill). Don't get me wrong, it does good damage. Just not equal to other pure dps. But in return, your survivability is like ten times better. This spec is optimal at 48. The reason behind this is you need a lot of talent points for both shield tech and pyro key talents.
  6. Overall, this build has potential and also many problems. About Hydraulic Override, it's quite weak for a gap closer. Smart enemies will wait out its cd before using their knock back/snare/root or just use a different cd (like force speed to outrun you). You can also be stunned during the duration which force you to trinket or totally wasted the cd). Moreover, it doesn't stack with sprint for better mobility outside of combat. But having a weak gap closer against having none, this spec is better than pyro about mobility. Damage wise, this build will have better sustain damage. Deep pyro will still have way better burst with Thermal Detonator. This spec has more procs than a pyro build so is subjected to even more RNG. You'll be required to be in melee range more to get the most out of your procs. Survivability, both sucks at this category. This build is not deep enough to pick up Stabilized Armor. Pyro maybe slightly better with the reduced cd on Energy Shield and Kolto Overload. Just some of my thought.
  7. All those stats have diminishing return at which one will become better than the other. Stacking one stats will result in a net loss of overall stats. Also, if you meant we rely on shielding for our procs, we technically don't since Flame Shield and Shield Vent both have internal cd. All defensive stats are good to us.
  8. I would suggest going shield tech early til 27 (?) then you can either stay shield tech or switch to Pyro. Shield tech allows you to solo most including two men heroics and sometimes even 4 men ones. Pyro just does more dps and overall faster (once you get Prototype Particle Accelerator) on normal contents.
  9. Bookmarking this page so I can necro it on 21st of Feb.
  10. I approve of this message and the name. Carolina Parakeet ™ as 21/2/18. ( (( \ =\ __\_ `-\ (____))( \---- Thumbs Up from Trungalung (____)) _ (____)) (____))____/----
  11. Oh if you ever try it, you'll notice the increase in damage. You can go whack a mob with a shield tech build and a st/pyro build. If you said there's no increase in damage or slightly increase, you're lying.
  12. Even a full tank spec is barely above on survivability. You get what? 10% shield chance? That turns out to be equal to about 5% dr with 50% absorption (even less if you're below that). For a full survivability build, I'll give you the two points in Power Armor, but it's even out if you pick Infrared Sensors as ST/Pyro. So you lose 5% dr for a massive boost in damage as a tank hybrid. You do good damage (not comparable to other pure dps with equal gears of course).
  13. It takes it back. You are correct. Sorry for the misinformation. On the different note, i think a mix of both gears will do good if you want to maximize the damage (some pieces has more endurance with the loss of dps stats).
  14. Put points wherever you like but you must take flame shield, shield vent, and jet charge. The rest is up to your taste.
  15. A must have. It vents heat and stacks up with Superheated Rail.
  16. I actually like that name however doesn't have any reference to jet charge. RailJet 1.0
  17. Read the post: Because of the ICD, increase shield chance won't lead to more procs on Flame Shield and Shield Vent.
  18. I have both sets (dps is more complete) and hit 2.5k with either. Just pop your power relic with Empower Fuel and use Rocket Punch (Flame Surge helps even more). Tho I'm very geared however.
  19. Any other spec is easy to get the 2.5k medal so I was assuming he's shield tech pre-50 (at 50, it's quite easy to get it with just Rocket Punch).
  20. 2.5 k crit. Pop your power/surge relic, damage cd, damage PvP buff, 15 expertise pot, and adrenals and use RP (that is if you're deep shieldtech build).
  21. It's not made for leveling up. The build needs a minimum at level 48 where you get high end talents in both trees. However, after 48 it's a really good leveling build.
  22. One of the thing about Pyro is the ability to fight at range (sure, it's not optimal but still doable) which lower the need for gap closer (mobility is a different thing since they still suck at it). So with smart positioning (Zombieland Rule# 22: When in doubt Know your way out), your survivability will increase tremendously especially on maps like Alderaan and Voidstar. This build will requires you up close to the target for melee so positioning is out of the question. And the reduction on Energy Shield is a lifesaver for Pyro, it makes up for the loss of passive survivability.
