  1. Few things you should include: -Flame Burst kiting. Even though we are technically melee, we can utilize the guarantee snare and 10m Flame Burst to kite other melees. Very worth it since our defense is pretty weak. -You can use Grappling Hook offensively against tank/healer combo. Just yank the healer out of guard range and instant gib him with cds. -The best burst combo you can pull off is TD > FB > RS. Flame Burst applies CGC which will instantly deal damage upon application. RS will refresh and apply CGC first tick again. TD explodes as RS hit the target. It's better than opening up with IM against targets within 10m range. So if you get lucky and everything crits. With cds, it'll be around ~13k damage in 3 gcds: 4.5k RS and TD, 2k FB, and 1k CGC tick x2 (the damage is averaged and based on my current gears against decent geared targets). With this kind of opening burst, you can wreck anything including tanks. Just use stuns intelligently to stop him from using def cds. Most will be caught in suprise, and it'll be too late for them to use the cds.
  2. I'll be easier to run pyro with ion. RP is kinetic which is mitigated by armor. Even with 20% arp debuff, it will not reach 5k (even TD can barely gets 5k).
  3. I pick medic because I prefer crit. With high crit, you can overlap the shield chance of your target since Rail Shot is a weapon damage type (shield and defense work against it).
  4. Pyro spec. Stack surge with power relics/adrenal or expertise buff, and you should be able to hit it on squishy target. I've gotten a few 5k myself (highest is 5550 from rail shot, and a few 5k TD on light armor targets with armor debuff). My gears are full PvP (all champs with 6 BM pcs).
  5. Still enjoy parakeet much more. However, right now I'm running pyro for my premade since we already have a tank.
  6. Pyro is the only spec that can hit 5k for me. And even then, you have to pick an undergeared target.
  7. Powertech is totally in a fined place in PvP. In term of skill cap, we're up there with one of the highest (try to watch a terrible PT pvper, it's eye gouging). We don't need to be OPed, and I like it like this to keep away all the fotmers. But if BW can give us one buff, I would like to have my stances don't require cast time but at a cost of heat. To the guy that said sin is better. I've always grouped with one of the best sin of my server. He will usually be two medals above me (5k hit and heal medal), but my overall production is better with more damage/protection (over same amount of death, and I don't aoe much, I go for the kills).
  8. Powertech is in a fine place atm. With my current gears (modified surge champion with some battlemaster off pieces) and pyro spec, I can pop cds/relics/adrenal and do 10k damage burst with TD > IM > RS.
  9. I prefer pyro for solo queuing. In group, it depends on what they need. If they need a tank for guard, I'll go parakeet. Or go pyro if they need dps. I still prefer parakeet more in group play, but most of the dps I run with can't kill any healer worth a damn.
  10. I played a frost mage mostly in WoW. The jumping is just a habit from kiting. I usually strafe and jump then turn back casting instants. The swtor camera also doesn't help, making kiting looks even more awkward.
  11. Dumb? In PvP, you will not get a full flamethrower off every single cd (a big part of 31 ST build damage). The player also doesn't stand still like in the sims for you to beat on. Also, let's take a look at Puncture and Rail Shot and their benefits over Flame Surge/RP: -its bonus damage is always counted as oppose to Flame Surge (only on crits) -Rail Shot is more available due to no icd on PPA -Flame Shield requires you to get hit to proc RP unlike PPA -Rail Shot is range The bad thing about rail shot is it can be blocked/dodged/deflected.
  12. I just started to fraps some of my PvP game play. I'm doing this so I can watch my footage to look for errors and improve further (this is how I improved myself in WoW arena). I post them here to look for feedback and other player's PoVs. Parakeet Voidstar: http://youtu.be/l6DIynjZ4RM Parakeet Huttball: http://youtu.be/jCTbil4BUa8 Pyro: http://youtu.be/eu92esS9CRY What's NOT to expect out of these videos: -Extremely high amount of damage and aoe. -Lots of big crits. This is not a crit montage. -1v2+. There's some 1v1 here and there but not much. -Kickass music. Currently I didn't put any music, but this could change. What's to expect: -Entire warzone game (no cutting and clipping. So if you don't want to see me running around, fast forward to the action). -Decent PvPer's doing PvP. -No premade. I queue alone. Updated: Added Pyro Huttball video.
  13. In PvP, it's a whole different situation. Parakeet provides much more burst with offensive use of Vent Heat. The reason why 31 ST is winning is b/c of flame thrower.
  14. Level as Pyro since it gets its key talent sooner than AP (Prototype Particle Accelerator). You are able to use heat recklessly (fishing for Rail Shot) and pump out tons of damage then just recharge after.
  15. The reason I usually recommend Combat Tech gloves is b/c it already has crit/surge mods with it. So you don't need to waste tokens to rip out the mods early on to put in your Eliminator gloves. Get eliminator 4pc as fast as you can is your top priority however so if you need gloves to complete the bonus, get the Eliminator gloves. I also find out that all the BM/rakata gears have a crapload of accuracy instead of surge. I will probably transfer my surge enhancements over to my BM eliminator set. My gears currently have passive 90% surge and 28% crit. It's mostly champions with 5pc BM off pieces.
  16. There's no point of tagging targets. Focus one down and switch unless they're all grouped up then use DFA. About gearing, use eliminator set with crit/surge mods. The BM eliminator armors have a high amount of undesired accuracy so I suggest getting other off pieces/weapons first before the set (if you have a crit/surge modified champion set like me).
  17. Bind (or get familiar with) assist target and target nearby friendly for quick switch between targets. Mouse clicking is a pain in PvP.
  18. Just want to be honest. The build is horrible. What's the focus of your gameplay? PvE, PvP, or solo? Here's a link to Taugrim's guide: http://taugrim.com/2012/01/04/guide-to-bounty-hunter-powertech-trooper-vanguard-mechanics-and-pvp/. It has popular builds for both PvE and PvP as well as other good information. If you like to use flamethrower, just use a typical AP set-up.
  19. Another way to counter this is to throw the ball up to the PT camping spawn. He will explode and return the ball to you (or your teammates, depending on who's closer).
  20. Crit/Surge is actually ideally for this spec since both gives more benefit/dmg per point comparing to Power. Try getting to the surge soft cap (95%?) with gears. Use power adrenals and relics (relics can be surge if you can hit the cap with it). Best way to gear yourself (in my opinion) is to have 4 pc eliminator with the 5th pc being Combat Tech gloves or helm (give crits) and use medic weapon/bracers (also crit). If you have extra tokens, buy the gears with surge/crit on it then take out the mods then replace the useless accuracy.
  21. I prefer it as Parakeet build. I don't like acronyms. Also, I don't think any refer to African Turtle Cleave as ATC.
  22. For PvP, use dps gears. Get Eliminator set (except for helm, use combat tech instead for the crit) with medic bracers and weapon (also for the crit).
  23. Well, we have Grapple which is on a 45 sec cd (35 sec with talents) and Jet Charge (shield tech only) on 15 sec cd. Beside all that, we have abilities with variety of attack range making us versatile fighters (still recommend to be in melee range for full damage, after all we're a melee class). Comparing to SWs, our charge is not a base ability but a talent which quite sucks (only ST and crossover hybrid builds can use it). At early level, you will be helpless since you have absolutely no gap closer (grapple at 22, jet charge at 30). However, this game is not about 1v1, you have guard and taunt which can turn the tides of battle, and the class gets significant better as you level.
