  1. Well, I checked the upcoming 1.3 and guess what - more PVP and Legacy stuff. Legacy - Not a positive since they let me know I am not a loyal enough customer. Preorder and sub but didn't play fast enough to be loyal. PVP gets the best stuff in the game of course and the most consideration for the future. I read in a thread about some off the rail space game might be coming up - for PVP of course. I am a PVE player and not interested in PVP or forum combat. As for someone telling me to go play something else, well I am beginning to wonder. I am only playing a few times a week now. Realize nobody really cares. so that is what a simple PVE player is feeling right now. Keep checking the forums to see if we second class players are gonna get any consideration besides forum flames. The layoffs sound kinda bad (happened to me at TSR when they went into receivership) but I am still hoping.
  2. Thanks folks!!! Appreciate the replies. That works for me.
  3. My level 18 Smuggler met Bowdar on a Hutt pleasure barge. Helped with some mercs, he said thanks and left in cinematic. I presume he will eventually show up but I was just wondering when. Anyone have an idea?
  4. Sure hate to feed the flamers but here goes. Would a sympathetic player please explain the relation of Legacy/Acts and levels to me? Just a simple question folks and I would be grateful for someone to take the time to explain. Thank you!
  5. Actually I appreciate the tenor of your reply. Flame posts are often such a turn off that a reasoned reply is refreshing. I COULD have played more to got a character to 50 I suppose. But my playstyle is different. I love to play my alts and real life does have an effect of playing time. It has been simply that there are a number of problems playing SWTOR that I haven't encountered in the other games I play (have played). And the addition of a 'freebie' that has the effect of making me feel left out and not as 'loyal' as others hasn't improved my play at all. Many replies in various threads simply say "tough", "too bad", "suck it up", "work at it" etc...This simply divides the player base and makes only Forum PVP'ers happy.
  6. And there you have it. Divided the player base into "worthy and loyal" and "unworthy and not as loyal". What possible purpose can there be in this divisiveness? The only point I can see is a hard attempt to maintain the Power levelers and PVP group. It is certainly needed to keep them happy and in game, that benefits us all as well as Bioware's bottom line. But for petes sake who came up with this idea? I am in the "unworthy" group and this 'free for some' idea just sucks for me. The majority of posts from those who like this concept have almost universally included info about how 'good' they are and how 'bad' the rest of us are. We are treated as 'fail' and as well..."unworthy". So be it! We are now successfully divided as a player base, sniping at each other in Forum PVP. How in heavens name this helps Bioware and the "worthy" players in the short and long term escapes me completely. Mabey as a diversion from other problems but that is a forlorn hope I think. Cannot believe but the divided player base is bad for all of us. What is done is done. I play this game for entertainment. I would hope that the Company and the 'better' players believe that is important. Continuing to be one of those players who have to 'know our place is in the back of the bus' is not a good sign for any business, especially in a game environment.
  7. I am like many others - preordered DDE, played beta, been subbing since. Have 5 characters I play. I enjoy the game a lot but...my frustration level has been rising. I was already unhappy that the space element was an arcade game - something I really do not enjoy. Lack of CC variety was a little sad. Character appearance is totally dependant on gear - just like WOW, one of the reasons I left WOW. Drops for a class overwhelmingly contain red minuses for that characters primary stats. Cinematics show up with character 'out of uniform', missing gear your character is wearing. There are a few other items that raise the frustration level. The "free 30 day" reward for "loyal" subs was a direct slap in the face to myself and many others. My highest is a 27 and the others vary from there. Today (Monday - Apr 23) I was on Jedi Covenant server during this morning and was disconnected 4 times. Finally had to stop playing. Player shard was about 44. These disconnects have been occuring frequently of late and include an occasional computer lockup that requires me to turn off compute manually to reset. This does NOT occur on the other games I play, including Star Trek Online or Champions for example. Finally the almost desperate attempt to please the "power levelers" and PVP addicts is understandable but kinda leaves a bitter taste in the mouth for the rest of us. I have pre-ordered both GW2 and TSW because I intended to run 3 active games this year. So this is NOT a rage quit post - just would like BIO to understand where some of the frustration is coming from. Flamers can kiss off, this is simply a post for constructive criticism and noting of problems that can affect subs.
  8. Altho I have many questions I really want to know why the drops and AH have both so few moddable equipment and why the equipment drops for each character class has an overwhelming number of items that have directly reduced stats for the character class stats specifically. This applies to every class I play. The equipment may have green plus stats in many areas but virtually all character primary stats have red minus reductions. I repeat, for every character class.
  9. From what I see on the blurb, if we have an active sub on Apr 12 AND a level 50 character then we get 30 days xtra free play time. A $15 freebie if I read this correctly. Fine and good. But... I entered the game in beta, pre-ordered the DDE and have played ever since. I am not a power leveler nor an elite player who rams thru to the max endgame. I enjoy playing the alts and have 5 with my highest a lvl 26. Thus I am not eligable for it AT THIS TIME! However, there is no mention that I can see that says I will get this nice perk when I do reach lvl 50. So I want to ask anyone (dev especially) if those of us who have faithfully paid and played since the start but not reached lvl50 (beloved by game companies) will have that perk available when we max out our first 50? Please spare me the burns, just a simple reply is all I ask.
  10. Tried the new UI customization of the PTS. Still cannot change the overlap of the Auction Window over part of the Inventory Window.
  11. I am just a simple PVE subber. I must admit my near fanboy attitude toward SWTOR was my starting point and I was eager to play. Also admit that I began finding things that affected my enjoyment of the game. Primary to all my problems was simple frustration. For Example: Character creation - I give it a 4 out of 10 - sorry but that is how I feel. Moddable equipment - I have had about 5 or 6 with 5 characters covering 1-25 levels. Looks vs Power - you need the power to survive - looks are secondary (very). Difficulty - The more difficult the more grind - Frustration as often as not. Space Activity/Starship use - Arcade and placeholder - Subjective boredom for me. Updates - PVP/Groups get it all, just like every other damn MMO I played so far. Updates (changes) are needed, repeatedly, to balance the miniscule % changes in a complex synergistic talent tree. PVE players 'feel' no positive effect. Effectively 'nothing new here -move on". Upshot of updates - frustration/disappointment. Look - This is not one of those "Rage Quit" posts. My plan was to buy and play SWTOR (which I have), GW@ and TSW (which I have pre-ordered). I won't try to tell EA how to operate their game. Just making some observations. I do have a simple question. Is there or is there not a solo PVE endgame? If so, what is it? Operations and group only? Dailies? Solo PVE is what I am asking about, with the kind of activities and size that Warzones and Battlegrounds recieve. Not angry - just concerned.
  12. This is not another whine and complain post. I am (sigh) just pointing out that we will have more Operations, Flashpoints and Warzones. Trying to keep the high end players in the game. Not a problem (we actually need to keep those players) but. as in every other MMO out here, the focus and resources go to high end. And the simple fact is only a relatively small percentage of high end hardcorps players stay with a game. The rest just - well - leave for the next game. Not going into a long diatribe. Just hope Bioware doesn't totally ignore the rest of us. Look at a chart of a curve and find out sub length based on level and alts. The highest point is NOT at endgame. By the way - what happened to the solo end game we were told would be on Illum? Replaced by a PVP menagerie? How is that working out? I said that that this is not a diatribe. Simply one voice in the crowd asking for Bioware to remember those of us from levels 10-40.
  13. 'shrug' - can't speak for anyone but myself. I have been somewhat disappointed with the gear (and outfits) in the game so far. I presently have four characters (3 Rep and 1 Emp).My highest is my main Jk who, because I need the gear upgrades to keep competitive in the game, looks more like a trooper. No Jedi 'feel/look' at all. He is lvl 24. My Smuggler (lvl 18) and Inquisitor (lvl 12) look ok. My trooper looks terrible, from an outfit and body (I just messed up with original CC and am stuck with final look) and gear progression has my Companion looking much better than my character. All in all, on a grade of 1-10, I give the game a '5' on looks in game. I realize that in a gear progression game we will not get the looks that we want but that doesn't change the somewhat disappointed feeling. This is not CoH or Champions but boy, more options and ingame control of 'looks' would really be nice. As an aside - the limited weapons system is really strange. 3/4 of the gear picked up by a class are seriously deficient (red minuses) in the very stats of the class I am playing. Have picked up at least 4 shotgun drops for my Smuggler and ALL of them were redminus in one or the other of my primary stats. Goes for all four of my characters, no exceptions. PS: The money sinks for stims and skills training suck onions. I have low funds on all four characters throughout the first 24 levels. Now that the whining is done I am still a subbing player and have no intention of quitting.
  14. The space arcade game system is not a fail - for arcade players. I am sad to say a number of us (no idea how many) are fail at arcade play. I have tried repeatedly to complete the first space arcade mission and have failed - just losing a few bucks and no rewards. I realize that many (most?) players will simply say 'don't play it', shrug and move on. But I had really hoped that we could have something in space to do besides the arcade. Adding more arcade or FPS shoot em up eyeball twisting play will not help me, unfortunately. I have been in since Beta, bought the DDE and subscribed and I am enjoying the game, a lot. It is just that I am so frustrated about my ability to play a part of the game that I really would like to enjoy. I also realize that I may be in a minority and a game simply may not be able to add or change enough to allow us slow hand-eye folks to play, but I can hope can't I? Since this is a suggestion box I thought I would throw in my 2 cents -
  15. Ummmm...Firefly plus Racoon City? Not too shabby - think it could be fun.
  16. Points of view, pro-con-neutral, are all in above posts. For myself, ALL nerfing is counter-productive (disappointing and sometimes frustrating). As an oldtimer game designer I prefer building things up instead of tearing them down. Keeps the customers happier with new GOOD things instead of new BAD things. It would be both more expensive and time consuming to finding workarounds for those two very critical items (healing and DPS). I PVP very little, do not care that much for it except to help guildmates. But PVP centric players deserve attention just like us PVE players. However, looking over the comments from the actual players, my general feeling is both types are saying - well - you suck. Sorry but that is the vernacular for people annoyed and/or frustrated with actions taken AFTER they have been playing. Someone/something is better than mine? Then build up my stuff some! I am loving my new stuff and they get to keep theirs. Keeps the playing field more level and both sides happier. Why pay attention to me? Good question - they don't and the nerfs will continue. I am playing and enjoying the game - a lot. Like in WOW, I will continue subbing cause I love the game but like WOW, I will also look over my shoulder (keep an eye on patches and forums) just in case. Wish it was different but it ain't. SWTOR is still the best MMO I have played since EQ.
  17. I beta tested Rift. It was ok, a good fantasy game and nice graphics but the multiple soul system destroyed the character immersion I really enjoy in a game. SWTOR has hit the 'sweet spot' for me in online gaming. Bioware and SWTOR have my vote, and by the way, my money. I really like the game.
  18. Good vs Evil vs Neutral. This game is simply a sidelight of that 'discussion' which has influenced the entire human race. A minor sidelight to be sure but the 'discussion' is basic. Has a place in all entertainment, whether a football game or a book or an MMO. The 'discussion' or 'philosophy' will ALWAYS take place. It is not a bad idea for people to think and discuss things of this nature. Ease up a little, it can also be fun.
  19. LukeRPWalker - take heart man. The trolls who cruise the forums making repeated hate on the game can usually be spotted by their personal insults to anyone who might disagree with them. Most of the millions of us who are playing are having a blast and just want more. There are problems with individuals who have some difficulty and the forums can be a good place to get help. Two problems I had playing (FPS rate and Losing my Companion access) were solved by other players suggestions in this forum. You just have to cull them from the forum PVP addicts ie...trolls. There are legitimate 'complaints', such as wanting improved character creation and more/different space game but, sans insults, are constructive for devs at Bioware. Just take a deep breath, give a big sigh, and siug thru the trolldirt for the 'gems', positive or negative. There are posters with good constructive criticisms who want to improve and advance the game. For the rest of us, like you and me, simply log back into the game and enjoy yourself. Just remember that the Forum PVPers tend to savage each other more than us 'fanboys'.
  20. I went to preferences on menu and turned off 'vertical sync' and 'shadows' in graphics. Game FPS went right up and playing ok now. Give it a try, nothing to lose.
  21. Boy! Attitudes towards game systems do vary. I understand your problem but it is the exact opposite for me. I enjoy the side quests (bonus points) a lot and wish there were a lot more of them. On Coruscant I left only one quest undone and that was the lady by the fountain who wanted me to steal some plans. Since I am running a Lightside Jedi Guardian I could not do that even tho I empathize with her plight. I have gotten my ship but heading back to Coruscant instead to do some heroics as that is all that is left. I would really enjoy exploring more of the planet-city even if only through some additional simple quests. You are correct, I have to get higher for my story line quests through the 'side quests'. I found that bad guys were higher level if I kept to story line first, which was ok since my JK is good but I couldn't take 4 bad guys alone. The addition of my Droid Companion made a big difference. BTW, did anyone know that the JK Droid Companion had a leap into combat that goes further than my Force Leap? Surprised the heck out of me when I first joined combat with it. While you may not be a power leveler it would seem that from your statement you would prefer to avoid doing other quests than the Storyline. Try doing the daily Heroics for good XP and stuff to raise your level before hitting the storyline - do not know if you want to do those group instances altho they are possible with your companion along. I have enjoyed the PUG I have grouped with so far - surprising but a pleasant surprise. Anyway - good luck for the future and I hope it gets better for you.
  22. I know this is probably my own ignorance but I have a Jedi Guardian at level 17 and I have exactly zero armor that have mods. My lightsabre (with mods) was provided at start but when I upgraded to a new Lightsabre it has no mods. Basically, I have no moddable armor or weapon except my original lightsabre, which is a little poor for lvl 17. Now I realize its me but exactly what am I doing wrong? Is it that there are just few modable pieces of equipment? Am I just unlucky in drops? Or is it I am doing something or do not know enough? Help from anyone would be welcome. I do not mind being a newbie in TOR, even getting flamed or spiked, just a little help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  23. Sorry OP but I simply disagree with you. The VO and cutscenes are a delight with me and I really enjoy them as part of my game. As far as alts are concerned they are simply a refresh of my info in an enjoyable style. I love to read books (the ultimate themepark) and can re-read my favorites many times, something I know is not the most common activity. So I believe that this is why I have settled in to SWTOR with great pleasure. Not for everyone - this I understand but as you so overstated you can simply hit the spacebar. Sorry if that is such a bother and feels annoying but I do not have a problem with that (as I don't do it). I use the add text feature so I have both (like adding subtitles to a film). For myself, I say Bioware has done a good job and I look forward to my future in this game.
  24. Hey OP I wasn't taking a shot, by any means. It was just that this was the first time I had seen that there were folks having problems with low population. I want to admit to you that I primarily run solo w/companion 90% of the time and at present, PUG once in a while (not much social points for me). I will up my gropuping and start PVP when I decide to ask in to a guild. I really like groups with guildmates more than PUG. What this means is that not having a lot of others (players) around doesn't mean a whole lot so I am no fair judge of other playstyles. Even in hubs I am usually trying to tend to my own business and don't like to interact with others trying to take care of their business. Too much of a solo attitude for some I guess - sorry about that. Anyway, I have what seems a lot of players around on my server including out in the city on quests (Coruscant). Thats why I was surprised about the instancing complaint. Would it be too presumptious to suggest you might look for a guild, ask about what server they are on and try that? Guildmates make the best grouping and the only way I will PVP. My post was simply a bit of surprise at a problem I wasn't aware existed. I THINK that they may be going all out to try and stabilize server population and reduce queing etc..as a sort of pre-emptive effort. They have been hit with a million plus subs and still going, pretty heavy dose of reality for a company producing its first MMO.
  25. Shrug! I am retired and able to play when I want and as long as I want. I started on the Jedi Covenant server and usually see the word 'heavy' when checking on server status. I had to wait in ques twice in beta but have had no ques at all in early access or after. Game plays smooth on my ordinary computer, any lag is minor and occasional. The population number has never been below 70 and averages 90+ and that is at the various times I have have played - from 3AM in the morning or noon during the day or 7PM at night. I fully realize that such things vary. I am on an east coast server (USA). My local provided is Roadrunner and so far I simply cannot complain. I was surprised to see some posts that said they saw only 1 or a few people while playing. I spend most of my time away from the hubs nor have I reached above level 14 in game. I play only when I feel like it and take my time so I know there are different attitudes and playstyles. For example more than half the quests I have played there have been other players on the same quest. Have had to wait for end point access (reset) numerous times and have had a few others waiting for me so it could reset and let them finish. No 'gimme that' folks so far, usually help each other out without any group. Nice bunch so far but plenty of other players around. I have encountered a few bug like problems such as one of my Commendations (Coruscant) has shown up in my main inventory window instaed of the currency tab. When I run into such things I simply report them and move on. All in all I want to add a post that says Bioware has an extremely satisfied customer and it looks like I will be here for a long time. I wish things were better for some of these posters. I wish I had a solution for you. I don't. I just hope you stay with us and give it a good chance to improve for you. If you quit the rest of us will honestly miss you - we need you in game. Good Luck!
