  1. Well the original empire in the movies is just a heavy handed metaphor for nazis and since BW's empire is the conceptual derivative some of that is going to seep through. That said there a certain cold appeal to how the empire gets things done when juxtaposed with out western democracy.
  2. By a DoT tick? When you DoTs tick down and DM is up on a target a stack of DM is consumed with each tick.
  3. Because at level 20 you get deathfield which buffs your dot damage and does a nice chunk of damage on its own and the talents below DF aren't really all that great at low levels anyway because they buff spells you don't have
  4. Did bonethrasher actually hit your 'tank' for 40k? That must be hard with no aggro table... Was he enraged from eating a Gamorrean or hitting the timer or both?
  5. As opposed to blue humans and white humans with alternative jewelry and facial tattoos?
  6. I really don't get why so many mmo players don't like playing mmos? Irrespective of how DAoC or SWG did it half a decade ago Wow's staggering genre crushing success has pretty much washed everything else away. Today mmo means leveling up so you can start gearing up to raid/pvp and get on the gear treadmill. If you don't like this system why do you buy and sub to games that use this system? Specifically regarding the OP's post no on social classes. As a raider I don't like the idea of having to rely on a toon to raid (which lets be fair the social buffs would either be so strong as to be required or the whole class would be rendered moot) that can't even be brought to a raid.
  7. Cool story; Frost (or hilariously before that unholy) tanking would have been a better model to carry into cata from wrath then blood. The only reason blood was superior in wrath was the because the tanking model was 'I HAS ALL THE STAMINA HEEET ME NOW BOSS' as opposed to cata's mitigation and avoidance model which frost and unholy used.
  8. Pics or it didn't happen, Pugging raids in vanilla didn't happen, even if you were a few short you certainly didn't let unguilded randoms in without heavy vouching from respected guild members (which would beg the question why they weren't in a guild). Are you sure you aren't confusing vanilla with wrath of the litch king? Purely pugging raids only really became an option in WoW until wrath
  9. Actually no, it only started being more of a problem in pve then pvp when Blizz decided to break the game and 'balance' the game around arena because it was going to be their next big esport. Before that casters often had to stand and hard cast to pull off big numbers so any fight that required movement ruined their dps without effecting melee that much. As balance evolved (which BW followed somewhat) they shifted away from hard casting and channeling and focused more damage into instant casts and dots. This helped balance in pvp but hurt melee in pve because high movement fights had drastically less of an impact then they had in the past. The above combined with the BW raid designer's favorite mechanic being 'boss centered aoe' has drastically shifted raiding against melee dps at present.
  10. Assasin was always touted as a 'hybrid' (more force attacks then a SW but less then a sorc) class since before the game was released (in fact the community manger even posted about it to suppress fears you either had to be a caster or a heavy melee player when classicly jedi always used a combination of both) you not doing the research isn't a reason for it to be a heavy melee class. Yes it sucks deception needs buff but no one is saying that you have to play madness. On an unrelated not why is DF so jarring? Have you never used a target aoe before?
  11. What are you smoking? Baras wears the columi pve sorc armor. The pvp assassin armor is the sith chicken they look nothing alike (he's not even wearing the assassin columi armor)
  12. Deception is lower dps for a multitude of reasons; Dots give you more sustained damage between your burst phases, madness has better regen, madness copes with movement (and the multitude of terribly coded boss centered aoes) better and math (on SW) suggests that it does more damage ins a knock down drag out patchwerk fight. You don't need to raid to get raid gear, normal mode raids can be done in questing gear and both normal mode raids and heroic flashpoints drop columi gear which is the tier 2 raid gear. If you like deception no one is saying you can't play it, what people are saying is that it's not as optimal as anyother spec in pvp or pve and it badly needs buffs.
  13. The stretch between taris and Talos was pretty annoying for me but once you get talos you faceroll everything else.
  14. I've herd this argument before from a guy called Ghostcrawler, you'd like him he's a dev on a fun little game with pandas in it that's going to have the talent trees you'd prefer.
  15. Deception sucking in all arenas I agree with. But that is flagrantly incorrect The assassin class was always meant to be the hybrid (granted that within the class deception is tilted towards melee, madness casting and deception a true hybrid) between the martial Sith warrior and the magical sorc. The assassin was never meant to be solely a melee. You rolled a sin, expected a rogue (I assume because of the name) and you got an enhance shaman/dk how is that BWs fault? This game has a rogue it's called an operative it doesn't need two
  16. Because of balance? Can you imagine the pvp qq if everything wasn't perfectly sin sync?
  17. We aren't the only class/spec that favors crit/surge to power you know this right?
  18. Or you could hope they add buff timer bars you can move around the screen at some point.
  19. QQ is from the warcraft RTS not WoW (before you try and huff at me what I mean to say is that by the time it was used commonly it had already entered common video game vernacular not that it wasn't used in WoW). So what you are saying is that having a magic spec that pulls top damage for the class in pvp and pve while maintaining the survivability and utility requisite for success in pvp is not a bad thing? If other classes really have a spec like this it needs to be broken as well, The three different specs should all have an area they excell so there is a reason to use them ever (i'm looking at you deception)
  20. You are aware that Assassins were pre release specifically touted as the hybrid spell sword class specifically designed to be the halfway between Warriors and sorcs right? If you wanted to role a solely melee toon you should have rolled a SW.
  21. I've noticed that all the post QQing about being forced to use madness clearly have sorc envy none of them refer to being a gimped warrior. Being a spell sword class means we're half melee as well guys.
  22. Its effectiveness in pve will be minimal to poor But that shouldn't matter because it's clearly a pvp spec.
  23. 1. Tank viability isn't somthing you need to worry about unless you started clear nightmare modes on week one of launch. You won't get sat out based on class. 2. I've leveled a sin and am leveling a jugg and merc. As dps it was slower because we have less survivability then most classes. 3. Madness performs fine in a raid environment, deception not so much... 4. Spell sword hybrid ranged/melee dps class and alot of utility (stealth, sprint, tanking cds, stun, cc, kb). I can solo most daily heroic quests for example. 5. Poor solo surviability in knock down drag out fights. This is opinion based but the story is lackluster. 6. For me it's the best fit for the feeling of a classic movie jedi class. It's a hybrid class that fits the spell sword archetype.
