  1. I don't mind skipping mobs as long as it's fairly easy to do so, I do it a lot. It's really funny though, with all the derps or new people in PUGS, that the tank or whoever attempting to lead actually endangers the group trying to bypass. There have been plenty of times in FPs when the "shortcut" ended up causing more trouble than just spending a few seconds to kill things. I'm sort of amazed these kind of people haven't figured that out yet...
  2. Bought 10 of the new packs and have half of a bank tab filled with gear boxes. In one pack I got 3 boxes. Other than that craziness, I did manage to get 2 of the new lime-green crystals and a Ubrikki Talon--which is a Sand Devil with a Krayt Dragon skull on the front. I don't know if that's new, but it's awesome IMO.
  3. Thanks for the tips, makes a lot of sense and confirms my hunch that there was no real reason to go full Immortal. I had put all my points into Immortal, and I do enjoy and feel comfortable with it, but it is certainly lacking. Survivability hasn't been an issue, just the loldps and threat. Good to know I won't be gimping myself if I go into Vengeance.
  4. I have read the stickies and did searches, but I'm still unclear about which route I should take. Mostly because everything suggests something different and a lot of info is old. I am only level 35 and stick to PVE, mostly doing FPs. It is no secret that the Jugg has its issues, but I love the challenge and play style after being RDPS for a long time. I'm very serious about learning how to tank and hope to take it into end game. Looked at various specs, but they're meant for level 50 and I'm confused about how I should build my character along the way. Am I putting everything into Immortal, then placing leftover points in other trees? Or are there skills I should be picking up first that would make my life easier, i.e. Single Saber Mastery or Decimate? Do I just go up the Vengeance tree and call it a day? Some people have suggested doing that, but it seems to go against my logic taking a DPS tree . Any pointers or links to recent info would be much appreciated.
  5. I recently returned to the game and this time through I have spent almost all my leveling in flashpoints (I have two level 35 characters right now). I strongly agree that once you start venturing into the 30+ FPs it's past time to get serious about what you want your role to be in group play. One could even say that with a poorly matched group Mandalorian Raiders can be a struggle for the low level DPS/hybrid healer. Typically FP groups are good and there are no problems, but when it's bad it's BAD. There are a lot of ignorant players out there and even some slightly more self-aware have the nerve to think it's funny: "lol I'm not the only one healing this am I??" Well, I waited an hour for this FP to pop, waiting for YOU, so please have your **** together and in turn, I won't be a derp DPS. That said, I do really enjoy this game and am having tons of fun otherwise.
  6. I made the switch also. While I greatly enjoy my Jugg for the story and the overall character/RP I've created, she is getting played less and less. Once you've gone Powertech there's no going back. Now let's step away from this thread and bury it where the nerf bat can't find us. There's nothing to see here .
  7. Who am I? Non-profit Development Assistant (donor cultivation) What class did I pick? Bounty Hunter/Powertech. So basically I'm all about the credits.
  8. Go Powertech (Bounty Hunter Tank/DPS) and never look back. Before I started playing I was deadset on the Inquisitor/Sorcerer, but much to my surprise this class far exceeded my expectations. Powertechs are tons of fun, do well in both PVE and PVP, and have a really interesting storyline. They are short-range fighters -- you can utilize Rocket Punch up close and have a lot of neat utility abilities like Oil Slick and Grapple (in the Shield Tech tree at least, which is what I've stuck with). In my opinion they also have the best companions. Use Mako for heals and it's smooth sailing.
  9. This is true - the gloves and I believe the greaves are blue items. The orange chest dropped for me on my 3rd BT run.
  10. As far as making credits off of Cybertech, it's about finding the right market niche which is not level 50 gear. It also greatly depends on your server, in my experience. I make credits hand over fist selling purple earpieces, mods, and pretty much any type of ship upgrade for players who are still leveling. These items take less time and resources to create and turn over. For me that's where the $ has been.

  12. It's too bad crafting systems in recent games has been such an afterthought. I love crafting, and to continue on you better love it too. Unless you get intrinsic value from it, you will be sorely disappointed trying to craft your way to better gear come end-game. That said, crafted gear doesn't have to be just BiS or just entry level gear (which is usually the case). Like a previous poster mentioned, make 1-2 slots from each AC a crafted BiS item. Any more than that you risk diminishing the efforts of raiding and PVP, imo.
  13. You pretty much took the words right out my mouth. Yes, we all know it took someone weeks to get to level whatever in that one game 10 years ago with...wait why should we care? Please stop bleeding nerd nostalgia all over the place. Let one repec. Or dual spec even. Maybe that would weed out those intent on telling people how they should spend time playing a game.
  14. I've had the 12-button (well, 17-button really) Razer Naga for a few months now and it took me awhile to garner the nerve to buy it. It's a little overwhelming at first and I had the same concerns about the buttons. The keys on the side are tactile and require a fair amount of pressure to push - I have yet to press more than one at a time or drag my fingers across the pad with terrible results. I have small, girl hands and I don't have a problem reaching all 12. I tend to use the top 3 exclusively, though. My boyfriend, who obviously has larger hands than I, doesn't have issues either. The mouse is also VERY ergonomic/comfortable to use overall. It is a small learning curve and took me a few days to feel confident enough using it for a raid. Your mileage may vary. It comes with raised decals you can place on the keys which helps. The only real con I can think of is that the mouse runs warm - I was surprised by this, but adapted and don't even notice it anymore. Edit: I play a Jugg and find all the extra buttons invaluable. Yes, you can rig it the way a previous poster did.
  15. I mostly duo with my boyfriend and we have different characters for different purposes. We supply each other with what we need and sell what we don't on the GTN. One I solo/pug with when he isn't around. I have a terrible money-spending habit and don't go out my way to get rich so you're mileage will vary: 221,000 - Level 28 Sorc with Slicing/Investigation/Scavenging (Solo - $$ and schematics) 114,000 - Level 24 Jugg with Slicing/Diplomacy/Treasure Hunting (Duo 1 - $$, other 2 complete his Biochem and Artifice on other characters) 13,000 - Level 12 Sin with Cybertech/Scavenging/Underworld Trading (Duo 2 - "Can I make things now?")
  16. It is immensely frustrating and silly to receive Republic schematics and gear on Sith characters. Especially at the rate it happens - most of the schematics for armor I have gotten from Underworld Trading, for instance, are for Republic use. I could just be unlucky, but the fundamental problem remains. It's just...stupid. Has this been overlooked or is it working as intended? Is the intention to foster cross-faction sales on the GTN? Why? Discuss/flame.

I'm not in any rush for meters and tend to agree with most here that they aren't essential, but I don't think there is a need to actually bash people who want them or keep add-ons/meters from the game. This topic resembles the feather-ruffling going on with dual specs, and with all due respect, I can't help but pick up on a certain vibe from you older MMO farts : I walked 10 miles in the snow to get to school - without shoes! Without FEET even! And goshdarndagnabbit, you will too!
  18. I completely agree with this. Making however many level 50s by doing the same quests over again, skipping cut scenes, and - well - doing the same quests over again, does NOT make you a skilled player and should NOT gain you respect. It means you have a lot of time on your hands and a bovine-like patience for repetition. It's as if people who are for Dual Specs are being hounded by some old farts for not walking 10 miles in the snow to get to school, because goshdarnit they had to! Without shoes! Without FEET even! I would rather dedicate my time to perfecting a single character, with multiple roles and gear. It's time to let go of the grind for grind's sake.
  19. The argument that "slicers still get valuable augments!" is...just.../facepalm. I love getting an augment back from a slicing mission that is worth one-tenth the cost of the mission itself. The large majority of augments are vendor food or wasted time/money spent trying to pawn them off 5 times over on the GTN. Slicing missions for lockboxes (credits) = credits lost. Slicing missions for augments = credits/time/effort lost. Mission Discoveries and Schematics may be obtained from either of these, true. Mission Discoveries are a fun surprise. But in 289 levels of slicing, I have never received one schematic. In fact, I wasn't even aware it was possible until recently. Discoveries and Schematics are not worth the time and credits invested in running missions over and over again hoping you'll finally get one. If they did in fact increase Discovery and Schematic drop rates, that's nice, but I certainly didn't see it in the patch notes. Instead of being a self-sufficient crafter, slicers give up a crew skill to fit their playstyle. Granted, there is no reason why a level 15 player should have 1 million credits - it's silly, but why have I been punished for not taking the pauper's route? I have always been a crafter in other games, you're always poor leveling, but was intrigued by BW's option of acting more like merchant. I picked up slicing to fund mission skills and reap the benefits of selling my items to crafters (or whomever) on the GTN. I didn't abuse the system, I don't have stockpiles of credits. It was comfortable, imo.
  20. 100% agree this. I'm actually a little embarrassed for anyone whining about a 15-45 minute que. If I get home tonight and there is a 2 or 3 hour que, I won't even raise an eyebrow - this game has been hyped like crazy for YEARS now . Also, why cry for more servers? So more crying can take place a month or two from now when they get merged? I've never tried tears, but they must taste pretty good.

  22. Redeemed yesterday FTW! I'm probably the biggest procrastinator here. I did not get into any beta testing until a stress-test weekend and held off on buying until I, you know, bought Christmas gifts for other people first hehe. Only slightly jealous since I pre-ordered my boyfriend's game for his birthday a month ago, and he is the type of person cruel enough to play it in front of me .
