  1. Haha, this is pretty funny. No, I don't mean in a disagreeing way. Just funny how it reads.
  2. I have a fair question. How do you know that? Are you a Bioware employee? I think its safe to say if you are not a Bioware employee or a contractor within their halls, you are assuming with your post. I mean no harm, just making a logical response, that if you are not an employee than you have no idea how they address forum posts.
  3. I'm somewhat new to pvp in this game. Been doing it for a month or longer now? I'm not sure, but I will say that I have had moments in guild or talking to others after fighting a shadow trying to understand the design of the class. Not being new to pvp or pvp mmos, some of the mechanics and abilities in this one class seem a bit silly. But I only measure that from my long list of former games versus my time spent in this game and as a Trooper. Ultimately, I have to lean to agree with the OP that there might need a second look at this class. But then again, it really boggles the mind that every single mmo has class balance but you can always narrow one, some, or all down to just silly design. You'd think with all of the rich information out on former games, this would never happen. To be fair, I can blast down shadow's but there is clearly a undeniable ability difference.
  4. Update Well I now have 2018 expertise, I might have that number wrong, and I am getting more kills now but I am still running into problems. Might be some of the difficulty I've seen some of you post about. So I have a few other questions. 1. Is there a set or best pvp rotation? I'm using one which I think works well with my pvp armor but I keep wonder if there is a better way. 2. What in the hell is up with all the damn, absorb absorb absorb dodge dodge reflect reflect etc, nonsense? I find myself wondering why on earth someone would design something like this. I mention it to some former players and they laugh stating that's one of he reasons they cancelled. Whats even more frustrating are these same players would I basically can't hurt are tearing me apart. What in the hell? Is there anything I can do about that? Currently, I'm saving up for my 174 pvp assault cannon. I'm hoping that will put me on the path to enjoying this more because if this keeps up, come renewal time in a few weeks, I'm history.
  5. Ok ill get the pvp weapon, the rest of the pvp gear, and those relics. I may not get that 60 barrel now but Ill have to keep using my current none pvp accesories for now. Thanks.
  6. Ok good news about the armor, I was concerned. Now this part sort of doesnt make sense to me. Looking at my current AC and the PVP AC, there are only two differences. 1. The pvp weapon has 140 points of expertise. (If I remember correctly) 2. My current weapon has way better overall stats. I was planning on working towards getting a full pvp setup since I have the suit now. From the relics, earpiece, etc. But at best temp changing out the power gem I have for a expertise one when Im in pvp. I know I'll have about 100 expertise less in comparison to the cap once I get that high but overall I don't see why getting a pvp weapon is a must. I didn't see any procs like the suit has when all pieces are grouped. It doesn't have better dps. Don't get me wrong, I really am grateful for your input so far. So i guess a better response would be, what exactly would I really be gaining outside of the expertise for the pvp weapon? What am I missing? Even the pvp AC has the same current level barrel I have right now. Which is a level 58.(unless I read it wrong) I plan on buying a 60 tonight for my main weapon. Are there level 60 pvp barrel comms somewhere? Ive only seen enhancements and mods.
  7. Ugh now I'm hoping I didnt do all that pvp farming only to get the wrong gear since I can use the merc stuff.
  8. You nailed it. I now, as of last night, have all six armor pieces of err i forget the name set of trooper pvp gear. Which is all level 60 but as of yet, all of my other gear is still using level 58 purple comms. I'll low my accuracy. My AC components does not have expertise on it at all. Right now I have a level 58 reflex barrel and was debating getting a level 60 to help but I wasn't sure how much of a dps difference in pvp that will make. There is a pvp AC on the vendor but I don't like the look of it and really lacks compared to my current weapon. Instead of swapping, I was just gonna use my current weapon with a level 60 barrel once I get it.
  9. You might want to read the mention of Mercs to understand what I said if you havent been reading. Its not about help. Its about arguing.
  10. I dont know. I'm at work atm. Whatever a level 58 purple comms rating is.
  11. Please, please, please for the love of Vader. Can we drop this merc nonsense. I posted seeking help on my trooper. Trooper, not merc. Again this post is about me seeking help on my trooper in pvp. Not Merc.
  12. Requires level 58. Just to be clear an example. My barrel on my AC is a level 58 purple reflex comm or whatever its called.
  13. Wow. Well I'd like to say I was seeking help not so much a debate war. But based on the detailed responses, it seems there might be class problem along with me learning the ropes. That sucks. But I will say, I'd rather be on a tough class than a easier class in which you see in every single pvp match like sages. My pvp gear is new. I've been buying it off the vendor on fleet. I'll have to check my expertise while in a warzone. That number was when I was not in one. As far as my accuracy, you are correct. I was looking at that wrong. But it is at 99%. Should I lower that? My gear is very augmented. Matter of fact, my pve gear is all purple level 58 mods or whatever they are called.. I've been putting level 58 purple reflex augs on each pvp piece I get. As a vet of other actual pvp mmos, I do see some odd and silly design in this game. I still don't get the point of why they created expertise. Just seems extremely silly. So some questions no one answered. Right now I use a AC that has a purple level 58 barrel on it. Should I strive to get a level 60 one? Will that help? Is there a set amount of critical, power, aim, and expertise I should aim at? I fought a jedi sent last night who was hitting me for 11 to 14k. I sent him a message hen it was over and he said he was all power. Would something like that help me? Lastly, I would like to say outside of some classes with ignorant amounts of CC, I never have any of these problems outside of arena. Not that it matters I guess.
  14. I'm level 60 Trooper/Gunnery with five pieces of pvp gear with roughly around 700 expertise and 109% accuracy. I fully accept I might be doing something wrong but my frustration is getting to me. Starting to second thought this game. So here is my problem. I run into one of a few encounters. 1. My target absorbs every damn thing I use on them. 2. Suddenly my target won't be taking any damage. 3. The damage is low their health barely moves. When this occurs, I'm getting better at trying to find the healer and attempt to blast them down. Only for someone else to attack me and destroy me in seconds. Not to mention always at the bottom of the chart or at best mid way. The funny thing is if I'm out on a planet somewhere, the fights go completely different. So I'm up for tactics, tips, or anything to stop losing so much. Should I go all power? Is there a Aim cap? Will things get better when I get a full suit with expertise? I currently have a level 58 barrel(reflex), will a level 60 one do better? Should I follow some sort of set use of abilities in combat? Please help! Hopefully I'll get some mature responses.
  15. Keep in mind, I am only talking about world pvp in general. In most pvp mmos, there is one huge area for world pvp. The only difference with a normal server and a pvp one is that on at pvp server, its open game everywhere. Also, I think the same idea could be applied to multiple planets but that might stretch the action out too far and make fights less frequent.
  16. No, no, no, no... People referencing WoW in regards to open world pvp make me giggle. /whisper play more mmos! Anyway, all they have to do is add more things to Illum or make it bigger. Actually a better summary. 1. Make Illum bigger to cover more area. 2. Add strutures tthat include perhaps bunkers, bases, or something defendable that can be captured. No I don't mean something easy as it now in which you run up and shot a helpless npc. Put some npc guards of the other faction on the area with a captain of sort so that the opposing side has to work to take the area. Not only that, but the side it belongs to can show up and defend it. This works real well when there is one side with more numbers. Those defending should have the edge by giving them blasters or some sort of armor buff. Make it worth defending and capturing but an effort to do either. 3. Give a more proactive valor buff to those who hold these areas and a nice realm bonus to whomever holds all of the defendable spots. 4. Set a primary base in Illum. Make i t a primary base with layers of npc faction based defenses. That way it will take large numbers of people to take it and provide a nice amount of valor for those that actually take the location. When I say layers, I mean like fort walls, npc guards, blaster cannons, allow the guild that owns it the ability to call in area buffs or area attacks. This would generate fights as the opposing side, could come and help defend it. But it would need to be worth a lot of valor and maybe say some bag drops or something. 5. Along with the primary base, defendable structures put in firebases or command posts in which sides can get rest and healing bonuses. Basically a place to setup and plan an attack, near locations that aer held by the enemy. Even a closer respawn fight to help during those big fights. An attack position for large scale fights. 6. Add more fluff. Put in pvp titles that cover kills, solo kills, base takes, realm takes, and etc. I could say more there but there is a lot of potential but the current setup is pointless. Making pvp gear was a completely stupid idea. Especially making it random as it is now, in this game. In which I propose something that would be nice but would need to be approached very carefully. 7. Add in elite pvp gear. That can only be bought (not random pvp bag nonsense) by pvp. How could they do that? Put in a pvp point system. DAOC had realm points and Aion had AP. They could create a top tier set of pvp that can only be earned in big boy pvp(open not arena). A person could go out and say get 15000 kills and get that elite head piece or 100k and that chest piece. Make it more complex by having gear based on solo kills. Say 2000 solo kills get a elite pvp weapon. See where I am going here? To make it even more complex, dying could make you lose a bit of SWP (Star wars points – just made that up) Character progression that is carried down the path of doing something at end game with a purpose which will equate and equal fun, can be achieved with a few changes and I think the above could do it with some adjustments.
  17. I don't think anyone disagrees with you. The problem is that the drop system before was random. So noone worked hard or looked forward to anything to fairly get more powerful. MMO's are about character progression and how can that properly work when the gear is 100% random? A complete stupid idea. Now they have changed it to make it somewhat better but the damage was done. Either way, since they did not put in a mechanic to make it progressive like in most pvp mmos, it just didnt work.
  18. Fromer 11Bravo here Now have you been reading this thread? You put in your blood, tears, and sweat into a RANDOM drop game? Random, what does that mean? ran·dom   [ran-duhm] proceeding, made, or occurring without definite aim, reason, or pattern: the random selection of numbers. This is the problem. You or anyone else has not put in any hard work. No-one worked hard. No-one put in extra work. No-one grinded. It was all luck. For some, those that that got the gear before they changed illum to pvp when it was easy mode. They simply did lame quests and got the gear. No-one grinded. You mention wow? Have you ever played Everquest? Aion? Those are grinding games. The gear dropping is random in this game. Some people get lucky and others can have a very frustrating experience. They made a change to help with that but for most it was too late. There are more problems, clearly but I'm just addressing this from your post.
  19. I agree wit most of this but not all. Not to mention much more needs to be done outside of this list. A bracket wouldn't fix anything but make small amount of people happy.
  20. Your post is well.. dumb. So you think a mmo is only good if it has a high population? WoW population is high because of one thing and one thing only. Marketing. They had a great marketing team. They advertised that game all over the place. They quickly became the AOL of mmo's. Which is why you have so many people who have never played any mmos before or computer games in general in that game. Not to mention, why so many long time mmo players despise WoW people. It was because of marketing. Not because the game is amazing. Its not. Its actually a fairly easy mmo compared to the others. A family game in a sense. You have to realize that most mmos don't do any advertising outside of PC reviews on websites or magazines. SWTOR has been doing the same marketing which the name and the adverting has helped them get big numbers. I about spit out my drink when I read what you said. So have you played no other mmos? Is this your second? They are many great games, much better games than WoW. Ha I hope you don't think its the best one. There is a reason the average mmo player considers that game easy or entry level. Haha you made me laugh with all of that. I'll never understand why people reference that game like its the standard or the mark of what every other game should have but that person hasn't touched anything else. Lastly, SWG playerbase never really got all that high. I believe it peaked at 300k. Hell Aion has close to 5 mil now. ( I could be wrong) Eve online is the only older mmo that increases their subs drastically every year. Second life has been steady at a million for years. Linage has been close to a three million way before WoW was even thought of for many years. (last time I checked ) You might want to play some other games or do some research before you post more empty text. People are frustrated with this game because they expected more. They expected a endgame. They expected great pvp because some of the devs worked on great pvp mmos like DAOC and some others. They disappointed so many people. Who have been around and knew what to expect. That is why people are leaving. That is why people are posting. That is why this is happening. Got it? They nailed the PVE side, they dropped the ball on the end game PVP.
  21. Is there any particular reason you are referencing WoW of all mmos so much with your complaining?
  22. You nailed it and I stand with your thinking. Here is the crazy part, my former boss was in the beta for over a year and a half. He works part time with a company that develops strategy guides for games mainly mmos. Early Decemeber he told me that he was hoping they would push the game back and release it later in 2012 because he did not feel it was ready for release. He stressed it was too buggy and that the end game was not complete. Funny enough, I was so pumped and excited, I told him he was crazy confidently advising him they would have it near perfect or complete by the stated release date. He was right.
