  1. The RPG part of MMORPG was discarded a long, long time ago though. These are MMO's for the xbox generation.
  2. I think you can save up so you have 1 bag to open and then the ability to buy another 5 bags under the current system but I think it changes in 1.2 doesnt it? The changes to Valor should make it easier to get to valor 60 though now.
  3. They normally have the 'Skirmisher' or 'Founder' Title. You can spot them a mile off. Used to be found camping enemy graveyards in Arathi Basin playing a hunter in the 10-40 brackets. Now they have come to a Voidstar near you! I would rather have on my team a lesser geared player who understands objectives than someone in full PVP Ubergod gear who faffs around.
  4. While I can see your point I disagree somewhat purely as all that does is lead to elitism and people looking down at other people which we have learnt from other games is not a pleasent thing to have in game. However I also appreciate that those beating the hardest content should have the choice of the best gear that isn't available to others even if the others demand they have access to it. Tough call really. In collecting games such as SWTOR the gear means everything to a lot of people.
  5. I disagree and don't see how you can form an objective argument unless you truly believe that WOW 3 years ago was superior in which case, a/ WOW was your first love and will never be surpassed b/ you have rose tinted glasses on Don't get me wrong, I loved WOW but for me it has had its day. SWTOR is the way forward and now has my focused attention. To compare WOW from 3 years ago to SWTOR is crazy.
  6. See I have to question this because these aren't my findings at all. I am on a Standard EU Server and when I am questing I see 20-30 people per planet still and 120-190 on Imperial Fleet. What faction are you playing and what server are you on?
  7. Welcome to playing a game at launch. In fact welcome to the MMO cycle of repetition. Long gone are the days of MMORPG's, embrace and learn to love [or hate] the X Box generation that WoW brought into the genre who want it now and want it shiny. Community is only as good as you make it. As is the game.
  8. Apparently the days of wanting to show how special you are by sitting in your finery in a social centre looking down at 'lesser beings' aren't as 2006 as we thought they were. I don't get what the fuss is about as my character would likely use whatever was at hand if it meant they survived and their opponent didn't. If this was a coloured lightsabre that I hadn't or wouldn't normally use then so be it. The force sensitivity powers for legacy are daft and could have be implemented better but I can simply choose to not use them so I don't see how that is an issue either.
  9. Lot's of old threads with complaints and moaning in them being necro'ed from over a month ago today. Are the GW2 and WoW forums slow this morning? With regard to the topic, I always answer questions if I know the correct answer and often supply a link to a site that explains it better and in full detail if I have one I know is a good source. I hope by doing a good turn that the person helped will go on to do a good turn and so the community prospers. Being snarky in general just makes you an idiot.
  10. Seriously, you necro'ed a thread over a month only to moan about something that has already been posted as being fixed in 1.2. Yes it is an issue currently but it is being fixed, what has moaning achieved other than bringing the post back to the front page? Broken pencil.
  11. I posted this in the other voice chat thread but would be interested in feedback from other peoples experiances.
  12. Its certainly an interesting point for discussion. Personally I would be interested to find out if a lot of people are actually switching off/switched off their vent/mumble/TS in order to listen to the clips when questing. I know I have been. This doesn't promote the social side of a guild that well for me as other games without voice acting do. Our vent server is pretty quiet when we are questing, its still the same madness for PVP but sometimes its just really quiet in the main channel. Like really really quiet. Its eerie.
  13. I think basically when you have a number of groups playing the same game that these clashes will always occur and nothing good ever comes of it because the two main groups have no respect for each other irrespective of the title being played. It is a shame but years of arguing will never be brushed under the carpet and forgotten, the emotions run too deep on both sides for that. It is actually sad because it doesn't ever help the game that is being played.
  14. I disagree as I feel the social aspect is what makes an MMO work be it at any level of play.
  15. Exactly. How is someone choosing to roll on a server to suit their playtimes when its obvious that the server in question will become a ghost town at those times when the Oceanic Servers open in any way shape or form the fault of the MMO company? Seriously. A lot of people seem happy to point the finger anywhere but at themselves in these forums.
  16. Forgive me for asking but how is you not getting a raid spot Bioware's fault when its clear it is your guild mucking you around? That is how I see it from what you have told us?
  17. This is spot on. Time available to play does not relate to skill. Time played to clear all content can often denote skill however. All said and done the true hardcore players leveled and the majority probably left within the 1st month due to lack of end game content without a murmur or forum post. The people left behind aren't the theorycrafters or community authors/leaders of yesteryear but are probably either, 1/ People who think they are hardcore players but simply aren't who are very vocal about why the game is bad. [The X Box Generation] 2/ People who used to high end raid in other games but are now playing on a more casual basis but who intend to raid eventually or are raiding currently. [Predominately older players with other committments] 3/ The truly casual players who are just enjoying the ride but are sick of the endless QQ so they QQ back as they know no other way. 4/ Star Wars fans who have not played an MMO who are just enjoying the story and experiance. Basically the same demographic as every other MMO at launch. Same QQ different game.
  18. Well that is obviously my opinion or I wouldn't have posted it. I do think it is incredibly difficult to say of all the gamers in the world you fall into one of two catergories and be treated with anything other than the questions of your peers though. It really isn't black and white like you want it to be as far as I can see, those days finished 10 years ago when MMORPG's became MMO's and the 1st computer generation bred their own jilted generation.
  19. Not at all . I am all for discussion. Unfortunately the parameters you wish to set out are out of date and redundant.
  20. At the risk of coming across as a muppet can I just point out that there are 3 or 4 threads already discussing this PVP issue in the PVP forum. Just saying the responses would be better/more informed in that forum.
  21. I am obviously a casual carebear. I like SWTOR. I didn't find anything original from that video, it has all been said and done before. I also think that trying to pigeonhole a definition of what a certain player type is is about 10 years out of date. Just play the game or don't.
  22. Add to this that the game is still in its launch phase and will be for another 3 months and all I see is potential. The game was never going to have loads of end game options at launch and that was obvious so why people are so uptight about it is mindboggling. I expect 1.2 to add things to make the game smoother to play with more options and I expect every patch after that to do the same. I am enjoying playing.
  23. While I appreciate what you are trying to say I don't agree that Ulduar HM was easy by any stretch of the imagination and neither was Anub Whatisface on HM in TOC. If you got 'Firefighter' pre nerf then I take my hat off to you as a skilled player, otherwise I think you might want to zip it because the most difficult thing about TBC was attuning players and getting people the right gear, the fights weren't that hard mechanics wise so i think you have it wrong. FWIW - I didn't do Firefighter pre nerf, too difficult for me. I can't comment on SWTOR ops yet as I am now a hugely casual player levelling multiple characters and enjoying the story, this is the game that alowed me to chill and enjoy the game for what it is, 3 raiding days a week is something I now can easily do without.
  24. Scheduled maintenance is scheduled maintenance. What patch are you refering to?
