  1. I have already cancelled. Reasons: The story ends at lvl 50. I'm not one for item-grind or endgame, so I quit once I finished the story. I may come back for future add-ons that will hopefully bring large portions of new story. Plus: I really enjoy PvP, but gear-based PvP just sucks. Why would I want to grind warzones for weeks or months and constantly get farmed by those who started grinding said gear before me until I finally am equipped well enough to actually compete with others and start having fun with it? I generally think that gear progression and pvp are two things best kept apart. Gear progression is fine for PVE-raiding. because other than gear progression, what would be the reason to do pve again once you've beaten an encounter. But PVP is a whole other matter. You don't need gear progression to keep one playing pvp because it's always a different thing anyways and players play it just for the pleasure of beating the crap out of others (At least that's why I pvp and play fps => to win each particular game and not to gain some piece of armour to finally be able to beat an opponent)
  2. In comparison a decent single player RP-game without subscription fee will cost you $ 60 and only last one or two weeks. So I think the 2 or 3 subscription fees you've payed were worth it.
  3. and make another post about an already existing topic that will immediatly get closed and I'll get refered to this thread? At least that's what has happened to the last thread I've posted in before finding this one
  4. I never said I disliked the game as a whole. There are a lot of things I like. The story for instance. But some major design flaws that have made it onto the live servers just annoy me. Like for instance that there is so little replayability because besides the class quest you're doing exactly the same quests over again. And that there are too few players for the amount of servers to sustain a thriving online community (at least on the vast majority of the servers) is a fact that can't be denied. I don't really want to quit now. I want them to do something about it. It's called feedback.
  5. But wouldn't a pull down menu where you can choose from the three current zones solve that problem? I totally understand that they shouldn't lock out players from the servers they are at now. But I think the solution he has presented solves this problem too.
  6. You really don't have a problem with the linearity and repetition that each reroll brings? I mean, besides the class quest (that's at least something) you'll be doing exactly the same because you have no areas to chose from. Each faction has the exact same way you should walk through the zones for each and every class. Now if I could choose from 2 zones each time (of course this would require splitting the class quest based on decisions you've made) or even three this would also double or treble the time I spend in this game. As it is now this game will last exactly as long as it takes me to play through one republic side class. I'm mostly here for the story and redoing 90% of it every time is definitely not the thing I want to do. But tastes differ, of course. And @ the topic: I, too, couldn't care less about playing the same classes with the same species just in another combination. Now if they'd added completely new species like Voss, rodians or whatever this would've been a completely different thing. But of course only if there was any replayability in this game.
  7. And what insight should we gain from this reference? It has little to do with the fact that the server downtimes suck, or did I miss something?
  8. Well I'm pretty sure they would be able to come up with a new launcher for each area and thus be able to separate the server maintenance times IF they really wanted to. Of course it would take some time to fix this, but I really don't know why on earth they thought this system we have now would be a good idea in the first place. At least to me it was very obvious the first time the servers went down in the afternoon during christmas holidays that this system sucked. It took me 5 seconds to figure that out. And they knew about their system for months in advance. As a European I can normally live with our downtimes as it's during average worktime. But let's not forget about all the schoolkids, students and unemployed that make up a good share of the playerbase in each MMO I've played up to now. And of course the players from the Oceanic area get totally screwed at least one time a week and, more often than not, even twice or thrice. So they may not be able to do something about it for the time being but I really can't stress enough that some person in charge did a very poor job with this (and of course a lot of other technical and design flaws the game has)
  9. simply because it's rubbish to have the same downtime in the whole world. I know it's because otherwise you couldn't access servers from every area or some stuff like this. Now guess what? I couldn't care less if I wasn't able to play on a server from the US or Australia. I'm European so I play on a European server. Period. I know that there might be some who have friends on another continent and so on. But if you're really dedicated you can always overcome such prohibitions. I mean how did so many Australians manage to play the game before it came out in their area? And they could've easily fixed that by binding the game copy to an area. So when you go to origin you could've decided if you wanted an US, European or Oceanic version of the game and thus be commited but still able to play with your friends. I'm pretty sure I wasn't able to log onto US Servers in WoW and it worked fine. But with this stupid policy they are really only pissing off a lot of customers. I mean I'm European so I don't get the full shaft, but as an Aussie it's unacceptable not being to play one day a week. I really hope you only have to pay 6/7 of the subscription.
  10. this exactly. The servers I've played on seem to have a rather high population in comparison to others. But even these seem like wastelands in most zones. There was never the feeling of a thriving world. It's a pity. It could really have been a great game. But now I just feel like there have been too many bad decisions and the game is slowly bleeding out. Maybe, if the servers would be merged there would be a bit more encouragement to play again.
  11. ^this exactly in my opinion The story is, what the game is about for me now. I came with a lot of friends, but they are more interested in the technical and competitive aspects of an MMO, which they supposedly didn't find. Thus, most of them left. So, endgame is pretty much done that way. I don't feel the urge to play with random strangers just to get gear (I never got the gear angle of these mmos anyway). So my wife and I are now rerolling on the republic side and will once more enjoy a (hopefully) fresh story. And then we'll stop. The game is good and all, but the gear-grind mmo endgame concept was never for me so I wasn't planning on doing that extensively anyway. I had just hoped for more replayability. But whenever I reach Nar Shadaa I'm just sick of redoing all the same areas. Even though the main story is new, there is soooo much to be repeated. This could have been made better. Mainly through multiple areas to level in any given lvl-range like in WoW pre-60. Having to move through exactly the same planets every single time is pretty lackluster.
  12. Ah. just checked it and you are right. You just don't geht the changed mouse when you move over it anymore. But you get exactly the same message as the op posted.
  13. If that was the case he couldn't interact with the datacron at all, thus would get no notice that he can't interact with it. At least that has been my impression. As soon as you've used a datacron it becomes a totally non-interactible part of the terrain like any rock or tree in the game.
  14. In my opinion a person that answers a question with something like:"why don't you use google" or "look it up in the codex" is a complete *******. Seriously, everytime that happens I want to reach through the screen and trash these idiots' faces... If someone's questions are below you to answer them, then don't bother to answer. Otherwise just answer the question and don't waste other people's time and nerves by acting so immature. I can totally understand that one doesn't want to answer the same questions over and over again, but I really can't stress enough how idiotic it is to flame someone for asking a question. Where I come from we have a phrase that would translate as something like this :"There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers"
  15. What I like about this game: -) Levelling to lvl 50. This is the best experience I've had levelling in an MMO. I've never felt the urge to grind more XP out of my playtime because I was simply enjoying myself. Only in the last few lvls I grew a bit restless because some of my friends were already lvl 50 and I wanted to do flashpoints with them. -) Level of difficulty of dungeons. While many may say that this game is too easy in that area, I must say that I like it that way. I'm not the kind of person that likes playing games like "I wanna be the guy" and has fun with them. Those games I try for 15 minutes and after not advancing further than the first screen I trash them I know that many people are different but tastes are different. To me a game should not be frustratingly hard. However, the balancing of the opponents is somewhat off in this game. E.g.: Kaon HM: The one "boss" where these endless waves of creeps come is a challenging and fun experience. While our gear was too bad to beat the bonus boss which is for sure the hardest boss I've yet encountered in this game, I must say that I was somewhat dissapointed by the endbosses of the instance. There was absolutely nothing to this fight. Any trash-pack in the dungeon was harder. That's something I find odd. What I don't like about this game: -) A gear based PVP-System. PVP should be made in a way that everybody has the same gear (e.g. no gear progression in PVP). Only skill and situational factors like being outnumbered or better usage of the surroundings should determine the winner. I hate such PVP-Systems like here were I just see the opponents HP and/or his oddly red glowing lightsabers and immediately know that I won't stand a chance if I don't get help by a few friends. PVP should not be about gear in my opinion. -) while the time it takes to find a group at lvl 50 is bearable for me (I'm on a server with a healthy population on the empire side and it still takes a considerable amount of time to get a pug going) I certainly feel that a better tool to find groups is needed. Especially before lvl 50. I haven't done any of the instances after cademimu because I just found it boring that I had to go to the fleet and spam the general chat for an hour and still don't find enough players to team up with. At lvl 50 it's okay for me to spend my time at the fleet looking for a group for some time, but before that I want to quest while I'm looking for a group. A tool that allows you to be wherever you want in the world and still be able to look for a group would be dearly needed -) levelling to 50 the second time on the same faction This task proved unsolvable to me yet. While I generally like the story mode (see above), I simply can't bring myself to level another toon of the same faction. My highest alt is lvl 26 or 27. I just can't bring myself to level further because it's basically the same as the first time except the class quests. And even they bring you to exactly the same areas most of the time. There is absolutely no diversity in where I can level (zonewise). I should probably add that I'm an absolute altoholic in these games. I once hit the overall maximum of characters in WoW per account (49 fyi, that was in vanilla though, so I don't know if that's still true). Being able to choose in which area you level is very important to me when it comes to replayability. As it is now Tor has only one replay for me: Factionswitch. I don't think I'll ever manage to level through the same quests again on the same faction. But maybe I'm too critical of this aspect and remember the zone choice of WoW too rosy. There was repetition too, of course. But here it feels like the rail shooter the space combat is.
  16. What? you can't react fast enough to hit a button within a few seconds time? really? Don't want so sound impolite, but that's really slow. I doubt you'll have fun in flashpoints because with such a slow reaction you'll stand in the fire or other boss attacks a lot and thus die a lot.
  17. I skipped the one BH skill that's only usable on incapacitated targets and makes less damage on stronger mobs...I bought the first rank of it and realised I'd never use it as a merc, so I didn't bother to buy the second rank. every class seems to have these useless skills (I think a Juggernaut even has 2 or 3 of these) I also haven't bought the higher ranks of the first weapon cylinder you learn (the one for the pyro tree). I only played Arsenal while levelling and now as a healer I only use the combat support cylinder. So it would be wasted money for me to buy that cylinder.
  18. I understand your point, but I don't think that having "unused" material with each different walkthrough would be a bad thing. After all this game is about replayability (be it endgame or rerolling, because they want you to get hooked for a long time) And having no "unused" material to discover (besides the class quests) is not a good thing when it comes to rerolling, is it? But Bioware chose to take the "easier" way and just make up 8 class stories (Same reason why they implemented AC in my opinion..they just didn't want to come up with 8 further class stories) and 2 sets of sidequests per faction. At first this sounds like a lot. But keeping in mind how dull the general quest design is (There is absolutely no diversity when it comes to what you to do to complete quests; Even WoW had some quests that stood out) and how much of the game is repeated once you reroll you will soon see that this one different questline you get to see whenever you reroll is not that much. At least for me it's not enough to keep me entertained. Of course you have to draw the line somewhere, else it would have become too much for the developers, but having 2-3 alternative paths to play through the game on each faction would multiply the time I'll subscribe to this game by 2 or 3. I don't know about others, but reading a lot of posts in recent days (yeah, that's also because I'm a little bored with the game) I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people feel that way too. Thus Bioware should think about how to enhance the players fun with this game and how to enhance their own profit.
  19. But I think that's because of class balance. If they mixed up the archetypes of abilities differently who knows what would happen to class balance in an already not too well balanced pvp game.
  20. I'd say untill 50 it's definitely worth it. Can't say too much about the endgame experience as I'm not much of an endgamer in these games. Sadly replay( or reroll-)ability is not as high as I expected due to the linearity. But you'll see that for yourself once you get there.
  21. I think they underestimated the effect different zones have on ones feelings regarding linearity. Other games might not have such good stories but they often have different zones you could level in, which seems to make a huge difference for some of us. Even though you're doing the same thing, killing a tiger in SV always felt better than killing a bear in the plaguelands. And that's because the surroundings were more to my liking. I really miss that choice in this game, however much I like it in other aspects.
  22. Are these forums being moderated? I suppose so, but it seems to be done subltetly...
  23. Can you think of other abilities they should have implemented instead of these? Other than giving it different names and different styles I think there are only so many different skills available for a game like this. I mean, a taunt will always taunt...
  24. I have a sharkoon fireglider. 7 Buttons but one can't be keybound to in this game. Haven't tried it with other games though, so that might be a problem with the mouse rather than the game. otherwise a good mouse though. And way cheaper than than the logitech/razer mice.
