  1. I have already cancelled. Reasons: The story ends at lvl 50. I'm not one for item-grind or endgame, so I quit once I finished the story. I may come back for future add-ons that will hopefully bring large portions of new story. Plus: I really enjoy PvP, but gear-based PvP just sucks. Why would I want to grind warzones for weeks or months and constantly get farmed by those who started grinding said gear before me until I finally am equipped well enough to actually compete with others and start having fun with it? I generally think that gear progression and pvp are two things best kept apart. Gear progression is fine for PVE-raiding. because other than gear progression, what would be the reason to do pve again once you've beaten an encounter. But PVP is a whole other matter. You don't need gear progression to keep one playing pvp because it's always a different thing anyways and players play it just for the pleasure of beating the crap out of others (At least that's why I pvp and play fps => to win each particular game and not to gain some piece of armour to finally be able to beat an opponent)
  2. In comparison a decent single player RP-game without subscription fee will cost you $ 60 and only last one or two weeks. So I think the 2 or 3 subscription fees you've payed were worth it.
  3. and make another post about an already existing topic that will immediatly get closed and I'll get refered to this thread? At least that's what has happened to the last thread I've posted in before finding this one
  4. I never said I disliked the game as a whole. There are a lot of things I like. The story for instance. But some major design flaws that have made it onto the live servers just annoy me. Like for instance that there is so little replayability because besides the class quest you're doing exactly the same quests over again. And that there are too few players for the amount of servers to sustain a thriving online community (at least on the vast majority of the servers) is a fact that can't be denied. I don't really want to quit now. I want them to do something about it. It's called feedback.
  5. But wouldn't a pull down menu where you can choose from the three current zones solve that problem? I totally understand that they shouldn't lock out players from the servers they are at now. But I think the solution he has presented solves this problem too.
  6. You really don't have a problem with the linearity and repetition that each reroll brings? I mean, besides the class quest (that's at least something) you'll be doing exactly the same because you have no areas to chose from. Each faction has the exact same way you should walk through the zones for each and every class. Now if I could choose from 2 zones each time (of course this would require splitting the class quest based on decisions you've made) or even three this would also double or treble the time I spend in this game. As it is now this game will last exactly as long as it takes me to play through one republic side class. I'm mostly here for the story and redoing 90% of it every time is definitely not the thing I want to do. But tastes differ, of course. And @ the topic: I, too, couldn't care less about playing the same classes with the same species just in another combination. Now if they'd added completely new species like Voss, rodians or whatever this would've been a completely different thing. But of course only if there was any replayability in this game.
  7. And what insight should we gain from this reference? It has little to do with the fact that the server downtimes suck, or did I miss something?
  8. Well I'm pretty sure they would be able to come up with a new launcher for each area and thus be able to separate the server maintenance times IF they really wanted to. Of course it would take some time to fix this, but I really don't know why on earth they thought this system we have now would be a good idea in the first place. At least to me it was very obvious the first time the servers went down in the afternoon during christmas holidays that this system sucked. It took me 5 seconds to figure that out. And they knew about their system for months in advance. As a European I can normally live with our downtimes as it's during average worktime. But let's not forget about all the schoolkids, students and unemployed that make up a good share of the playerbase in each MMO I've played up to now. And of course the players from the Oceanic area get totally screwed at least one time a week and, more often than not, even twice or thrice. So they may not be able to do something about it for the time being but I really can't stress enough that some person in charge did a very poor job with this (and of course a lot of other technical and design flaws the game has)
  9. simply because it's rubbish to have the same downtime in the whole world. I know it's because otherwise you couldn't access servers from every area or some stuff like this. Now guess what? I couldn't care less if I wasn't able to play on a server from the US or Australia. I'm European so I play on a European server. Period. I know that there might be some who have friends on another continent and so on. But if you're really dedicated you can always overcome such prohibitions. I mean how did so many Australians manage to play the game before it came out in their area? And they could've easily fixed that by binding the game copy to an area. So when you go to origin you could've decided if you wanted an US, European or Oceanic version of the game and thus be commited but still able to play with your friends. I'm pretty sure I wasn't able to log onto US Servers in WoW and it worked fine. But with this stupid policy they are really only pissing off a lot of customers. I mean I'm European so I don't get the full shaft, but as an Aussie it's unacceptable not being to play one day a week. I really hope you only have to pay 6/7 of the subscription.
  10. this exactly. The servers I've played on seem to have a rather high population in comparison to others. But even these seem like wastelands in most zones. There was never the feeling of a thriving world. It's a pity. It could really have been a great game. But now I just feel like there have been too many bad decisions and the game is slowly bleeding out. Maybe, if the servers would be merged there would be a bit more encouragement to play again.
  11. ^this exactly in my opinion The story is, what the game is about for me now. I came with a lot of friends, but they are more interested in the technical and competitive aspects of an MMO, which they supposedly didn't find. Thus, most of them left. So, endgame is pretty much done that way. I don't feel the urge to play with random strangers just to get gear (I never got the gear angle of these mmos anyway). So my wife and I are now rerolling on the republic side and will once more enjoy a (hopefully) fresh story. And then we'll stop. The game is good and all, but the gear-grind mmo endgame concept was never for me so I wasn't planning on doing that extensively anyway. I had just hoped for more replayability. But whenever I reach Nar Shadaa I'm just sick of redoing all the same areas. Even though the main story is new, there is soooo much to be repeated. This could have been made better. Mainly through multiple areas to level in any given lvl-range like in WoW pre-60. Having to move through exactly the same planets every single time is pretty lackluster.
  12. Ah. just checked it and you are right. You just don't geht the changed mouse when you move over it anymore. But you get exactly the same message as the op posted.
  13. If that was the case he couldn't interact with the datacron at all, thus would get no notice that he can't interact with it. At least that has been my impression. As soon as you've used a datacron it becomes a totally non-interactible part of the terrain like any rock or tree in the game.
  14. In my opinion a person that answers a question with something like:"why don't you use google" or "look it up in the codex" is a complete *******. Seriously, everytime that happens I want to reach through the screen and trash these idiots' faces... If someone's questions are below you to answer them, then don't bother to answer. Otherwise just answer the question and don't waste other people's time and nerves by acting so immature. I can totally understand that one doesn't want to answer the same questions over and over again, but I really can't stress enough how idiotic it is to flame someone for asking a question. Where I come from we have a phrase that would translate as something like this :"There are no stupid questions. Only stupid answers"
