  1. Most (MOST not ALL) F2P games also have a subscription model, yes.
  2. I take it that this is a lot of people's first F2P? Those prices are pretty average. $12 for a suit of armor? I guess you've never spent $20 on a mount, or $10 for a sword, or $25 for a ship. $12 is cheap.
  3. More pants for counselors and inqusitors. More uniform sets (various clothing uniforms and armor) Opposite faction options. Not that it makes a difference from a gameplay standpoint, but from an RP standpoint... my Imperial Agent is a spy, it doesn't do him much good to wander around in an Imperial uniform, would be nice if he could get a set of Republic uniforms, and/or be able to wear Smuggler gear that looks like Smuggler gear. The same could be said for Smugglers too, wearing an Imperial uniform, might get them past a checkpoint a little more often Please make more "adaptable" clothing sets.
  4. They can most certainly change how this game ends, it's 3000 years before the Death Star, they can come in and say "it was all a dream, JR's not dead, and the emperor is really on Ortolan" Having a preapproved "direction" doesn't mean that Lucasarts can't come in tomorrow and add a stipulation that "All male jedi must wear banana hammocks" They own the land, they let EA/BW rent it to plant tomatoes, and you're foolish if you think that the license doesn't state "subject to approval" and/or "Lucasarts reservest the right to ammend this license at any time"
  5. There was a HUGE argument not too long ago with regards to them removing the light/dark restrictions from color crystals.
  6. That wouldn't be so bad, but could we forgo the standard Whedon camera angles? They give me a h eadache on TV, can you imagine in Imax or 3D?
  7. If anyone wants to come over, I got pizza rolls ;-)
  8. "Full Creative License" means they have the RIGHT to create whatever they want, to PUBLISH that content though, they still have to go through LA. It also doesn't mean that the company that controls the license can't make a few "creative changes" Why don't you ask SOE. NGE wasn't SOE's idea it was the brainchild of that idiot Julio Torres, who works for LA (and still does). Let's not forget KOTOR II either. Obsidian had "full creative license." Obsidian, to their credit, really DID have a decent story, before THAT got torpedoed by LA because they wanted it on shelves in time for Christmas, so the story h as some huge holes in it. Just because Disney "OWNS" Lucasarts now, doesn't mean that LA still won't have THEIR hands in the cookie jar, even if Disney doesn't take an active role. But you can bet LA would make changes that they think will please their new masters, and ultimately feed that down to EA. Some other folks are taking our friendly jibes at Disney a little too seriously I think. Yeah we k now they own other companies, yeah they have made edgier movies, but it doesn't matter if Disney decided to go into the pr0n business, the FACE of Disney is always going to be: and edited to A New Hope, where the Jawa's sing "Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's snatching droids we go...." that sketch in Robot Chicken where Obi-wan sings "a Certain point of view" will become reality. Star Destroyers with Cars faces. R2-D2 replaced by Goofy. A section in the movies where a group of teenagers lives in a huge loft without parents, or jobs, but yet can somehow afford to live there. Darth Sparrow "Interesting" Emperor Hook "Bring me Luke Skywalker!" It doesn't matter how well Disney's "outside" projects do, it doesn't matter if there was a lot of shooting and killing in Avengers (Coulson's not dead BTW!), because that is not the FACE of Disney, and we are always going to riff on that.
  9. So when they finally settle New Alderaan, do we get Leia singing "A Whole New World?"
  10. Boy this thread has balooned since I posted my first response. But there is a lot to consider there. Don't get me wrong, I am in FAVOR of the same sex scenario's, I am just curious as to what might be considered TOO FAR in the eyes of the Disney front office, not to mention what the purchase means to our game in general. I WOULD like to know where people are getting the information that Disney is talking to Timothy Zahn, because the article I read, which came from the AP stated that Lucas has an outline, or a rough draft as to what Episode 7 was about and the woman that takes over as CEO of Lucasfilm was going to roll with that. But I would much rather see Zahn's work. I am willing to give Disney the benefit of the doubt. But I swear, if I see John Ratzenburger as the voice of the Death Star, I will personally drive all of my SW related items to Lucas' house and jam them in his beard.
  11. A word from BW on if/how this affects us would be nice. I am sure as a licensee they weren't totally blindsided by this like I was when I first saw it on the news, would be interesting to know if being under the Disney banner will cause a "change in direction" for the game. I would assume they will probably tone down the darkside options, probably scale back the sexual interactions and I would assume scrap the same sex scenario's all together. I will say this: Star Wars doesn't need: Flying Elephants Goofy (we already have Gungans and in our game Evocii for that.) Fairies Talking speeders And I think we already have our quota on princesses.... So what really can they bring to the table? As far as Episode 7, as I understand it, it's going to be an original work by Lucas (or at least based on it), however personally I want the Heir to the Empire trilogy myself.
  12. I got short changed by a month... I only show 1400 as an Early Access, DX, constant subscriber. Not that 150 will make that big a difference I don't think, but still.
  13. I have the loading screen issue when switching, also the taxi bug, and some planets (namely the starter planets) show weird glitches of mty laser fire.
  14. Lock Boxes, are loot drops with random chance items inside that could either be that top level purple piece you are looking for, or something like say, a common medpac. THe box drops off of any mobs, doesn't even have to be elite or anything, HOWEVER you must buy the key to the box off the real money store.
  15. In any case, the point I was trying to make is, should the Dev's say it's an artwork issue, it's just not true. Every knight robe I have ever worn already has a hood down model in the game that can be observed using certain types of headgear (like the Battlelord glasses). It's just a matter of someone changing the model to use the hood down image with the Hide Helmet option, I know it can't be THAT difficult.... Currently it's: armor + headgear = appearance Just needs to be: armor + headgear + helmet option = appearance. I would like to see some of the other armors in game as well especially the colored up character creation set.
  16. I don't know if you can, when you boot up a second launcher it tells you the first launcher is running and either gives you the option to close the first or quit the second. However it's a non-issue, since the live servers are currently offline.
  17. If any of them say this, it's just not true, because most of those armors you CAN have with the hood down already. The only way that *I* can do it with hood up sets is to wear the Battlelord headgear (that Geordi LaForge visor), that puts the hood down, however you are wearing 80's Devo sunglasses.
  18. I currently have 3 50's, 2 40's and 1 that's 47 I am doing now. They are all solo characters with the occassional Heroic or FP just to break up the day, and I do a bit of PvP with the 50's but don't get involved with the lower characters. As far as self sufficience goes. That's a bit more difficult, it either requires you harvesting nodes constantly or sending your companions out non-stop on missions (which costs money). But for the sake of argument, I use the GTN ALL THE TIME for orange gear and to upgrade my mods. Most of my characters are all oranged out by level 30 (then upgrading to newer pieces as I go along), and my companions by level 40, and I still have plenty of cash. There is no point in saving money, especially once you reach 50 and start doing dailies, it's an easy 200k credits for about 2 hours work (or less once you get the rhythm down).
  19. Yes and no. Yes it's there to test new content, but like most MMO's it's also there to bash bugs. It's not there for BW to do testing (hence the super secret truth that Public has the word Public in it). Bioware has an internal QA server. The problem with that is, most frequently introducing new content, areas, devices, appearances etc... has a tendancy to break other things, even things that are not related to it, so it's important to know what effect even 1 area has on the gaming world. I dunno how they do things in WoW land, maybe they only have a test server when there is new things, so that might be what BW goes with. However, there are tyhose of us who come from places like SWG, or EQ2 or even STO that have perminant 24/7 test servers for things like I mentioned: bashing bugs. Hell, there were people that spent their whole lives on TC-Prime in SWG, not because they wanted to be a patch ahead, because that is what they liked to do, make the game better to play.
  20. Here's the point a lot of people seem to be missing: 1) We're not talking about endgame content, we are talking about storyline and side quests. 2) If I am hanging around the fleet YES I am HAPPY that I can usually find a FP or an OP in less time than it takes to take a leak now, I find that aspect awesome. 3) However while doing game content, it CAN be difficult. Yesterday I rolled a Chiss Smuggler (I roll Chiss everything from time to time), and there were 94 people on Ord Mantell. 94 people! A good deal of them are repeat players which is nice (hell I can USUALLY run through Ord Mantell in about 3 hours), but there are plenty of first timers that have no idea what they are doing, hanging around and constantly fighting eachother over mobs that aren't even theirs in the first place. I does make it difficult to get through the starter planets and the capital worlds (178 people on the same day's Courscant IS a bit much). 4) Inevitably people will say "group, this is an MMO after all" which is fine, however when you are the 5th GROUP in line to attack the syndicate leader on Coruscant, how is that fun? Make no mistake, I love to group (when asked, not blindly envited), I like doing raids and such, I am a veteran of MANY a large population MMO, but in this case the planets are SO small and the content packed so tightly that it is easy to find yourself throwing your coin in the air and shooting it, not to heal, but to pass the time. The last merger was ok (when there were say 40 people on Ord Mantell and 100 people on Coruscant), but now, primetime and weekends it's practically unplayable for any mission that's not instanced.
  21. I hear ya, I might just be catching the same boat as you when you sail away. Ok, yeah it WAS about the name changes, but then it became how/why it was done, before that it was the Chevin Event (what a mess that was), before that Mandalorian Rage (BH class quest that was nearly impossible to finish cause you'd get bugged if you died), before that it was the security key fiasco, before that it was removing color customization, before that it was removing color crystals from green/blue items, before that it was the orange dot! Yeah games have problems, and bugs, that's why you have a test server that's why you have a QA team, that's why you had a year long beta (though some bugs from beta STILL persist) There's no reason for this stuff. Are they seriously going to tell me they thought the layout of the Chevin Event was perfect? Didn't they envision a hundred people trying to change the disco lights at once, or trying to follow the droid, or my favorite, the Droid Race where BOTH factions had to work the same spot, wasn't THAT a thrill to be nearly 500th in line to click something? Sure I popped over to Nar Shaddaa 5 to do it where there were like 10 people, but with this last round of merges, I might have to wait till there's a Nar Shaddaa 10 next time. Yes, I am afraid I have to give the developers a lot of flack for allowing this stuff to happen, however it's the front office's shortsightedness that is driving it into the ground. EA paid a LOT of money for Bioware, so they need to be able to turn a profit on that AND TOR (because I am sure that loan isn't paid off yet), which means getting as much green as they can while spending the least. Meanwhile Doctor Ray and Doctor Greg are laughing all the way to the bank.
  22. I've done my complaining in other threads, however this is so I can try and clear up a few things. Topic Number One: The Original Announcement: The announcement seems to say that Destination Servers remain the same servers that they always were, but they have been UPGRADED. People on the forums seem to think they are completely new servers, some people like me think they are upgraded servers, and NOBODY from the Dev team nor the TSR team (or for that matter CSR's) has stated which condition is correct. Which would it be So I know I have smug satisfaction, or a lot of apologizing to do? Topic Number Two: How character names were decided: I would like to know how this was done, because quite honestly, you have to take anything that CSR's say with a grain of salt. Not necessarily that it's their fault, they probably have to go with the info they were given. However I would like a developer or tech to give me a little insight into the process.. I know someone will say they can't give exact numbers, or it's a trade secret, or proprietary (because everyone knows I have been anxious to steal Bioware's database restore script to sell to Blizzard, or to even keep for myself for all of that restoring I need to do),and I am sorry for the sarcasm, but you have to understand that the formula pointed out doesn't seem to be working. I have seen complaints from folks who's regular every day characters have been renamed. Ones from early access, ones who were level 50, ones who had their names changed in June, and a combination of the above. So come on, you don't need to post the script for me, just give me an idea of the weight that Account Age Character Age Character Level Origin/Destination server Whether or not renamed from a previous merge carried percentage-wise. I am pretty easy going, and generally don't make waves, and even a decent supporter of developer efforts in most games, and yeah when this happened and I was told I needed to change 2 names even though I was on a destination server, I was quite upset.... HOWEVER, now it's not so much that I had to go through it, it's growing suspicion of how this entire operation was implemented. Were destination servers replaced and everything started fresh? Was there really some sort of complex DaVinci Code method if choosing who got to keep their names, or was it all just a roll or the dice? Or was it really just whichever name got copied first. (ok, maybe there was a little complaining, some venting and a bit of sarcasm, however my questions remain valid)
