  1. I didn't say that anyone said AC changes will happen. I was just providing evidence that ran counter to the claim that the devs said that they will never happen.
  2. I'll bet you've waited a long time to use that analogy, so I hate to have to do this ... According to Dulfy's November 16 interview with Damion Schubert: Frankly, I don't have a problem with this. Sure, you're going to see a lot of people who don't know how to play their characters at max level, but they're changing their class to please themselves, not the rest of the community. It's not going to tear endgame apart. One thing that I'd hope is that the onus would be on the player to gear up their new character. BioWare shouldn't be expected to swap out every piece of equipment and mod to match the new Advanced Class. That would be a nightmare to code and balance, especially if one could change their Advanced Class at any level. This should be made clear and stated up front so players know what they're getting into and can prepare beforehand. Of course it would mean that some players of Juggernauts and Guardians would be complaining to no end about how unfair it is that everyone else gets to wear their previous Advanced Class's armor. And then there will be people complaining that the companion they want to use isn't geared up. But it wouldn't be the official forums if there weren't.
  3. You don't think resetting the game, rescaling all of the NPCs in the story to the PC's level, and removing companions for the players who want to replay the storyline would be more difficult than making new content? Seriously? Making new areas, missions and voice-overs adds to the game for everyone and builds on a system that's already in place. You're talking about them reworking and re-balancing things they've already done to create a subsystem to allow you to replay the story, including not having companions available until you get them in your story, but having the fully-geared companions available for when you're not replaying the story (and for crafting, presumably) and open-world NPCs that characters of lower levels would have to slog through. There are class missions on starter planets to kill mobs in non-instanced areas. Would these scale to your level or remain lvl 1-10? Would you scale down to starter planet level? Would the game spawn an entire instanced planet for you with everything scaled to your level? What's next? The option to decide which story is the real one, if you like the way the replay played better? Getting to keep a companion you gained more affection with in the replay, but have them have the gear of the original? You know that someone is going to ask for that, and claim it would be easy to implement.
  4. I don't know why anyone would resort to naming a character Thùnderkat or Lyon-ö or Sîmßã. It's not like others will pat them on the back for the clever cultural reference. The person who gets the name first gets the kudos, the hundreds of people with variations on the name, not so much. They look like they're trying to tell a joke everyone else has just heard and keep screwing up the punchline.
  5. You realize that character data is encoded in a file, and they'd have to change the structure of the file as well as add sliders for all the other options in the character creation window. It's not like it's a simple thing to do just because the art exists in game.
  6. Can't you order one? Essentially you just explained exactly how you blow through all of your 500CC every month - you spend it on options that you feel you just gotta have. This is exactly what "blowing through" means. A lot of the Cartel Market exclusives get made available on the GTN, if you can wait, and can put time in for dailies if you don't have the credits - or you can wait until they're discounted. If you can't wait for either, then yes, you're going to continue to blow through your 500CC on new Cartel stuff every month. I've been a subscriber since launch and I have 2000+CC (after unlocking Cathar yesterday). Other than that, since the launch of F2P, I've bought one of each pack, an extra character slot, Rocket Boost, the Cyborg unlock, and some armor sets when they're been discounted. The rest I bought through the GTN. Granted, I probably don't want as much from the Cartel Shop as you do, but the monthly sub isn't meant to cover everything anyone could want to buy.
  7. Yeah, that's almost as annoying as quoting a whole page of text and responding with a few lines. Which is almost as annoying as making a snarky comment that doesn't add anyth .... ohhhh.
  8. What you don't see as problems are, in reality, very big problems to implement.
  9. They never said that, either. That was speculation in the forums.
  10. It's not like the devs are elected officials that you can vote out of office if you don't like the decisions they make.
  11. I don't see why that should deter anyone from playing those classes. You only have to use the "iconic" companions for specific missions.
  12. They need money to pay the salaries of the designers and programmers who work on improving the game. It's not going into BioWare's CEO's pocket.
  13. I think what AgentJacen means is have a mission completion window pop up that shows you what your rewards are. Maybe the easiest way to direct players would be a mission that you automatically get at lvl 10 that says "go see your Advanced Class trainer on fleet" (or maybe have it direct you to the NPCs outside the elevators to keep them relevant).
  14. By that logic, since I have a 6 month sub, I pay about $6.60 a month for 600 CC and only $5.30 for my sub since BioWare reimburses me $1.10 (100 CC) because I use an authenticator. I get that you're trying to make a point, but you're attempting to restrict what the word "free" means, when everyone knows what it means in the context of having to make a purchase to be eligible.
  15. But BioWare said that all content would be free to subscribers. They didn't say expansions would be free to subscribers. But this isn't an expansion. Yes, it's an expansion. It's, at the very least, a new planet with 5 levels. But it's not a full 10 levels. Neither is MoP But MoP has a new race, a new class and pet battles. MoP also costs $40, this costs 1/4 of that for subscribers. But it won't come in a boxed version. Seriously? The price for subscribers is really not bad at all for what we'll be getting. The only thing that bothers me is that it's not available with Cartel Coins, although maybe by the time it goes live BioWare will change their decision and it will be.
  16. Have names reserved for two Cathar: M'ress (Female Commando) and Dreadclaw (Male Powertech).
  17. From Dulfy's interview with Lead Designer Damion Schubert: I wouldn't count on it coming soon, though.
  18. We'll be able to create more than 12 characters on a server, but we'll have to purchase the character slots.
  19. Presumably giving Preferred status players 2 more quickslots and 4 more character slots wouldn't be effective from a business standpoint either, but there you go. The quickslots are 1080 CC. I would imagine that 4 character slots would go for more than twice that. The Customization unlocks are a total of 1940 CC. I guess it really would depend on whether or not former subscribers are currently buying those unlocks or not, and if former players are turned off enough by not having those features that they're not coming back to the game. If it's something that will draw former players back, and it doesn't cost BioWare anything to do it, it could be very effective from a business standpoint.
  20. My advice would be to add the Customization Control Unlocks (Display Titles, Display Legacy Name, Hide Head Slot, Unify Colors) for people who have purchased the game. There are plenty of other things that former subscribers who bought the game are willing to pay for to get what they want out of the game, and giving them these unlocks for purchasing the game would make coming back to the game more comfortable for them.
  21. I think you're thinking of Bib Fortuna. He has 2 lekku (one wrapped around the front like a scarf and the other hanging down the back).
  22. Wait, that's not how it works around here. It's that BW wanted to release more options from the beginning but EA wouldn't let them.
  23. While it doesn't specify what they're going to do, there is a dev post about it (from Joveth Gonzalez): We’ll have more details for you – including information for Preferred Status Players that have already purchased extra Quickbars - once the change goes live.
