  1. 1. Add a hood up/hood down toggle for all hooded gear (darn clipping!) 2. New companions: a good-looking, interesting male Jedi tank for my Consular and a nice, pretty female melee DPS for my Smuggler (or even better: allow level 50 alts to be used as companions. It'd be tricky but I'm sure it could be done well.) 3. No Huttball for me, ever. Fun thread!
  2. I have recently made a BH alt and was wondering if there were a ton of Bodyguard specs. I think there have been some great points in this thread so far! The point about the companions is an excellent one. I enjoy healing, and if I keep at it with my BH I want to spec Bodyguard. But the companion types that I find most helpful as a healer -- tanks and melee DPS -- are the last three we get! So I won't be spec'ing heals until I get Torian or maybe even Blizz. And also, I'll admit it, when it comes to playing a healer I happen to like the cloth-wearing mage-ish look. The main reason I am considering BH over Sorcerer is because the companions look so awesome. xD
  3. I have edited my post to make it more clear, and added some more information and pictures.
  4. My Miraluka also has the clipping issue, but as a Consular at least it is avoidable. That would be so awful to have as a Knight! IMHO it is completely unacceptable that hoods have clipping issues with some Miraluka masks, yet the hoods cannot be toggled down/off. I can deal with headgear clipping, since that can be turned off. And I'd also be happy with hoods simply disappearing like they do for Twi'leks, though I don't see that happening because not all Miraluka masks clip. I hope they either fix the clipping, or let us toggle the hoods off! There are some hooded robes I really like the look of, but not with my mask sticking through the hood's side. >.<
  5. I mostly agree with the OP, apart from the part about their being not being enough "attractive" female companions. Each class gets just 5 companions, and dangit, my Smuggler only has one nice looking male companion to two female ones as it is! Otherwise, I feel your pain. On my Consular I'm leveling as DPS instead of healing so I can ditch Qyzen asap, I can't stand him. And I'm considering doing the same on my BH too, since our first companion is also a healer and we don't get our tanks until last. If only I could respec Torian to be a tank or Mako to be pure DPS (Gault is icky lol) . . . At this point I don't think it is feasible that we be allowed to pick and choose our companions, but the idea of letting us choose from 2 roles for each companion (depending on their "advanced class") seems very do-able and I reeallly wish they would let us.
  6. I agree, character creation is pretty underwhelming. I can understand the body types being presets, but IMHO they need at least 6 per gender, not only 4. When I first started the game and saw the character creator, I was so excited. There were so many options! But then I realized that about half of them are slight variations of each other, a large chunk of them are just plain ugly, and many of them are shared across races. In my previous MMO (FFXIV) I may have only had 8 hairstyle options for my character, but they were all tastefully done, entirely different from each other, and exclusive to that race and gender. Which, incidentally, also had unique animations.
  7. I really doubt we will see "new" playable species anytime soon, legacy system or no. They can't even seem to handle Twi'lek and Miraluka, which have some rather irritating hood and headgear issues. I'll look forward to new races once said issues are fixed. But based on the little teaser in the video, I think it is safe to say that the legacy system will likely include some previously impossible race/class combinations. I'm crossing my fingers for a Miraluka Inquisitor! ^^
  8. Agreed, I'd love to see this -- or something with a similar effect, like having companion barber coupons, surgery clinic coupons, tanning salon coupons, etc. Honestly I was quite surprised by how limited the companion customization is. If anything, I think this would lead to more people keeping their companion's looks closer to the original, particularly if companion customization was done one "piece" at a time like with a coupon method. Often there is just one or two things about a companion that people want to change, but they have no choice but to get a completely different look if they want to change that one thing.
  9. Well, I am leveling as a healer with a tank companion, and I can usually manage the heroic 2's, so I'd imagine if you were leveling as a tank with a healer companion you'd be able to manage as well. And if you're going the Assassin tank route, stealth also helps as you can slip past mobs you don't need to kill for the quest objectives. ^^ I think which to choose depends on how you like to play. I enjoy playing as a healer, but sometimes during tough fights, I feel silly as the mob pretty much ignores me while I stand far away and mostly just spam heals and a few DoT's the whole fight while my companion goes toe-to-toe with it. xD
  10. I too would love to be able to get a purple crystal. I am surprised that purple, and the color selections in general, are so limited in this game! Don't get me wrong, I love the magenta one (I've seen it, and it is a very pretty shade of PINK), but it is no substitute for purple. And to those going on about how lightsabers were so limited in colors "in the movies", I would like to call your attention to the many Jedi in this game that carry red, orange, and yellow lightsabers, all of which are pretty easily obtainable colors. Clearly, Bioware was not going the "let's make lightsaber colors just like in the movies!" route. Like it or not, SWTOR is part of the EU too.
  11. Edited my post to make my request more clear and specific, and added pics. Hello all! I have started to play my Consular more and have found some armor that I really like. Unfortunately it is unmoddable, so I was hoping some of you more experienced folks could kindly point me to some orange quality gear sets (that do not have major pieces mysteriously "missing" from the game) with a similar look: Picture 1 Picture 2 (close up) For reference, the items shown are green quality and include pieces from the following (identical!) sets: Hapani Scout's, Alderaanian Thermoweave, Cinnagar Thermoweave, and Cinnagar Scout's. And I'd also love to see any other sets that: - don't have shoulder pads/do-dads - have a "skirt", not pants - are lighter colored Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
  12. Personally, I think the rate is fine as is. I don't like the idea that you should have to do every solo quest and then some heroics, FP's, PvP, and/or space missions on top of that just to be the right level. I like that you can pick and choose, to some extent, how you want to level up. Whatever combination of PvP, space missions, solo quests, heroics, and FP's suits you best. And I figure that anything I skip over due to being over-leveled, I can just do "the next time around" on my second character while skipping something else I already did instead. For example, I accidentally missed the Gree quests on Coruscant, and was delighted to find a "new" quest while leveling my alt.
  13. I like this idea, to an extent. While we don't need more than one of each type of companion, people may want to have more flexibility in being able to use the companions with looks/personalities that they prefer. It would have to be done in a logical manner though, such as according to the "advanced class" of each companion. Examples: 1. Doc is a healer with Smuggler stats. Essentially, he is a Scoundrel type, so melee DPS would also suit him. But he cannot dual wield like a Gunslinger to do ranged DPS, and Smugglers do not have a tanking spec so he could not tank. 2. Nadia is a melee DPS with Consular stats. She is essentially a Jedi Shadow type, so a tanking spec would also suit her. But Shadows cannot do ranged DPS or heal, so she also could not. Or it could be done by class, but by AC would be simpler as there would be no need to change what the companions could equip. And from everything I have heard, a tank or healing companion in DPS mode is not as good at it as a pure DPS companion. I know when I put Corso (tank) in DPS mode he isn't as effective as Akaavi (DPS)! Just my two cents.
  14. Though I always do the bonus quests, and am sure to "check" for them by killing mobs in each quest area, I do stealth by a lot of mobs. This is mostly when I am finished with the bonuses and just want to move on, or when I am looking for something and don't want my getting slightly off course to take 4x as long due to mobs. I don't do space missions, PVP rarely, haven't done heroics regularly since the lvl 20's, and do 1 or 2 FP's per week. But I do all my solo quests and bonuses, and ever since I hit Nar Shaddaa I've normally been 1-3 levels above the suggested (am on Quesh now at 39). Good gosh, do I miss stealth on my Jedi Sage after playing a Smuggler. xD
  15. I did notice that my server has more imperials than republic. I think these things would help: 1. Remove or reduce same-faction warzone matches (huttball), don't add more! 2. Fix the Jedi aesthetic issues of big butts and too many hoods 3. Add new races for both factions (to be fair!) but be sure to give the Republic the more popular/interesting ones to balance out that the Empire's exclusive species are currently more popular. And it would be really really neat if Bounty Hunters and Smugglers could somehow be a "third", neutral faction, but I don't see that happening for story reasons. I also like the idea of adding in-depth L50 (to avoid the "it messes up your story!" issue) quest lines for each class that would allow players to change their allegiance. Not change their their class, just which side they are on. Maybe just tack something on to the class name to indicate their status, like "fallen" or "redeemed". So an IA could do their super-spy thing for the Republic, and a Smuggler could be a privateer for the Empire. The quest would need a dark or light requirement to unlock it, 'cause a LS Trooper isn't going to turn traitor, and a DS Sith isn't going to play nice with the Jedi. Totally not going to happen, though, too complicated I'm sure. xD
  16. I feel silly for saying this, but the hood issue is one of the reasons I decided to make a Bouny Hunter before a Knight. The fact that some species have features that may not work well with hoods makes it even stranger -- Twi'lek missing their headbands (with disappearing hoods), Miraluka masks clipping, and Zabraks losing their horns when wearing hooded robes. Incidentally, the first time I checked out the GTN on the Empire side I found heavy armor versions of hood-down robes and even some skirt type bottoms. My BH will be wearing those for sure, yet when I make a Jedi Knight it will not be so easy.
  17. Sawbones here, and I've used Corso almost exclusively. His harpoon shot makes him much more convenient for me than Bowdaar. And Risha does good DPS, but her being ranged didn't work all that well for me. But I recently got Akaavi, and I have to say, she is a pretty good match for me. Her DPS is great, plus she is "tanky" enough that she doesn't need a ton of healing. And I thought I would find her character disagreeable, but she is actually pretty cool in a "wow, my very own big scary Mandalorian!" sort of way. I tend to be a bit overleveled for whatever I'm doing though, so I may have to stick with Corso for tougher elites. In which case I will give him his clothes back from Akaavi. xD
  18. -applauds- Agreed, and not just for Jedi armor. I recently visited the Imperial Fleet for the first time and boy did I have a good laugh at some of the high level Sith armor I saw. If some people like their shoulder do-dads, that is fine of course, we all have different taste. But how about more pieces without them? I only recently picked up playing my JC, but already I am starting to see the dreaded shoulder do-dads on all the hood-down robes I can find. >.< Really, Bioware, it is ok . . . I can deal with my character not looking like he has huge blocky shoulders. You can just let the shoulder area have a natural silhouette sometimes . . . it'll be fine, promise! I won't get any feelings of inadequacy on behalf of my character for not looking bulky enough.
  19. I'd like to see more alien races, but I'd imagine that we're more likely to get ones that speak basic and are closer to human. Perhaps it is pessimistic of me, but given how Bioware can't even seem to deal with Twi'lek lekku and Miraluka face masks properly, I can't see them adding any really "alien" aliens. It isn't that I think adding aliens like Trandoshans is a terrible idea, I just think that there are many other species that would be far easier to add and at least as popular (if not moreso). I'd hope to see Togruta, Cathar or Nautolan maybe.
  20. I read up on companions before choosing my classes, and chose Consular in spite of theirs. xD Mine is still low level but I am not impressed. Qyzen: looks like a bad guy from a cheesy low-budget 60's sci-fi show, and his vocals are an annoyance to my ears. Nor am I fond of his personality. I can't stand him so much that I decided to level as DPS so I can ditch him ASAP for . . . Tharan: erg. Good thing I rolled a male JC, I think this guy would turn any female character I made to darkside choices, and not of the lustful variety. I suspect he will be annoying anyway, but at least he's better than a big green eyesore on my screen for 90% of my playtime. I'm not excited about Zenith and Iresso, they look dull, but I can't wait for Nadia. This is coming from the "yay, she and my lightside JC can be best pals!" perspective, though. And you want strong female companions? Try a Smuggler too then. I play one (Sawbones) and the ladies on my crew are a cunning, worldly sharpshooter and a powerfully built Mandalorian. Of course, everyone has their own opinions though, so I thought this thread was fun to look through. ^^
  21. That is just what I thought when my empire alt hit the Imperial Fleet for the first time, and then Dromund Kaas. xD It has a dark and refined beauty to it. But then I remember that they have to go to Balmorra too, and don't feel as bad.
  22. I don't particularly loathe capes, I just loathe them on my character. My favorite style so far is by far the duster look, like the one that Risha comes in, or rather, came in before the patch mysteriously changed her default gear. Now if only I could find something like it that was modable, and not light grey with yellow and muddy grey-brown trim. -sigh- For now, I'm sticking with a cute mod-able crop top and pants. Is it true that every green item has an orange version out there somewhere? That would be awesome, but there are so few orange crafted items on the GTN that I really wonder. It is really hard to put together a decently matching orange set in the non-cape style that I prefer. xD
  23. Isn't that just the big question? I prefer to play characters that are nice/good/etc, and the Republic is my favorite. That said, I recently started a Sith character and I was really impressed with the aesthetics. IMHO the Imperial Fleet is much nicer looking than the Republic Fleet, and Dromund Kaas is absolutely amazing compared to Coruscant (which I liked because it is, y'know, Coruscant). And I far prefer the gear of IA's and BH's as opposed to Smugglers and Troopers. This is of course a matter of individual taste though! Plus, the Empire and its trappings are more mysterious -- we've all seen Coruscant and the Jedi Order in the movies, but the Sith Empire is being visually fleshed out in SWTOR now too. Certainly, I won't be switching over to the Empire, but I can see why it would be more popular. If I wasn't for my guild and the fact that I really like the Jedi, I'd probably be Empire too.
  24. With the goal of keeping my character's and my companion's mods updated, I RE a green item and then stop once I get a blue item recipe from it. I only do this for mods/armoring that I will actually use, and am already able to make items a much higher level than I currently am. Honestly, it doesn't seem worth it to try for anything beyond that especially for things that I will quickly out-level. If you wanted to make a business of selling mods though, it might be more useful to try to RE the blues for purples.
  25. Agreed! I have also had this be an issue with certain quests that require you to "use" a mission item to scan droids after you kill them. You have to be SO fast when you are fighting a group (which you almost always are)!
