  1. Sounds more like the people who needed maybe just had no clue, or were unaware. Of course that is still a shame. Maybe we're getting a lot of new people playing the game who have no concept of what need/green even means. It's possible, even if unlikely. As long as posts like this exist, then hopefully such people would read the forums and might come to understand how it works. There probably needs to be a section in a FAQ somewhere about need/greed (and passing!!).
  2. Interestingly, this has been happening to me. I've narrowed it down to seemingly whenever *I* start a party. I end up having to use /say to talk. I've found that if I log out (thus leaving the party), log back in, and then get the party to re-invite me, it starts working again. It's odd because it seems to happen at least once per log in session. I can't remember if it happens if I am in one party, stay logged in and later join/create another party. This didn't happen in the 2 weekend beta tests I was a part of, and I did join a few parties there. I've got a feeling I am not seeing anyone elses party chat either. The ctrl+u to reload UI does not work. :\ Edit: For those that don't really know what it is. When you go to the chat window and type anything like /party Hi, then hit enter. *Nothing* happens at all. No text or anything. *I* don't even see what I wrote. I am not in a guild yet to know if that works or not.
  3. Thanks for telling me which servers to avoid.
  4. I read somewhere that I think with Diplomacy crewskill you can work on LS/DS more directly. But I don't know the details. Otherwise, I guess if in the future you want to lean one way or the other, you could help people out with stuff like Black Talon, and consciously go for the associated dialogue replies/options you desire.
  5. Why not just pass on it completely? You might make someone elses day all that much nicer for doing so. People shouldn't be afraid to pass instead of greed for things they are pretty indifferent about. Just my opinion of course.
  6. Don't you mean: \SWTOR\retail\ ? I can't remember the layout of the folders.
  7. Yes you can play on any server anywhere I think, no matter where you are. (just be mindful of your latency)
  8. Yes, all quite sensible. But you have to understand this - not everyone is going to think like you. Some people wouldn't even think to ask before doing it. You speak sense, but some people are oblivious to it.
  9. Does no one use the little "X" on the loot window, thereby "passing" on the item? If it's something I can't use, I just click the X. I won't even greed on it. From my perspective, I won't even greed or need for my companion. Up until yesterday and reading these threads today it just never occured to me to roll for my companion. It seems very odd to do that. I don't really care what my companion has equipped generally, and will just let them use random loot I find while xping, or other handmedowns and crafted bits. The issue of claiming loot for companions is only going to get worse imo. :\ Yesterday, I was doing BT flashpoint, and an orange pistol dropped. As a Mercenary, I rolled Need. I was with 2 Sith, one a warrior, one an inquisitor. The warrior needed on the pistol too after a long pause. The inquisitor (very grateful for him) asked why they needed on the pistol they can't even use. The warrior's reply "mistake". Just that, one word. I asked if they could possibly trade it to me. And then they replied pretty quickly, saying they had traded it to their companion. :\ First person on my ignore list. They were using Vette as our 4th member, so she did contribute - but this was only because earlier on the 4th PC member dropped or got booted. We never really worked out why and the party leader (the same warrior) never said. But in the fight where the pistol dropped (our 2nd attempt) I was working quite hard to keep both the Sith alive with my meagre healing ability. That padawan is certainly pretty tough. Anyway, I think it's going to be our responsibility to iron out any loot issues before you even step one foot into a flashpoint, etc. Everyone should have no confusion about it before you enter, or as I said, it's going to get quite bad. Lesson learnt for me, I'll definitely make sure to ask next time before we begin.
  10. Also, the pool of gathering missions you can send your guys out on isn't limitless. Usually it's about 5-6 choices, but they do replenish reasonably quickly over time.
  11. There probably will be in the future. Just have to be patient. Or, remake your character. But the longer you continue to level, will make the decision to recreate harder.
