  1. Thanks very much. I found the one in Kaas City. Somehow he refuses to show up on my map as a little icon. So finding the one in the fleet will be a pain. Oh well. Thanks again!
  2. I've spent a while trying to figure this out. I've been to the Imperial fleet and saw my trainer, but I couldn't see any option there to do this. Maybe I am talking to the wrong guy? I know about the legacy method, but I can't afford that for every character. Please could someone give me clear instructions on where and how to do this? I know it may seem like a silly question, but I've started playing after about 2.5 years absence. Thanks in advance.
  3. Aren't we only allowed to talk about SW:ToR on the forums???
  4. It's fine, don't worry. But being released in the US a whole year before WoW, it always makes me intrigued that it never gets mentioned as much. Though I probably know why. A few others have already said but yes, it was somewhat unforgiving at the start to be sure. You had to group to do almost anything, and you probably only really enjoyed it if you had a strong community to play with. Ah anyway, it doesn't matter, it was just an observation. It was my first proper MMO, so for sure it definitely comes under the "your-first-MMO-syndrome".
  5. Yikes, that's quite a big assumption. :\ Have you actually played it at least? This doesn't seem like a Wow clone to me.. Arakia from a healer's perspective
  6. So few people mention FFXI. It's really intriguing.
  7. Aww, it's one like this that just make me feel really sorry for the person involved. :\
  8. lol, I probably might have done the same. Funny though indeed.
  9. PM your server name and I'll remedy it for you. :> But thanks, hehe.
  10. grania, it could be the types of people you play with. But it could also be that your definition of special attention is different to what a guy-playing-a-girl's is. On top of that, a guy playing a girl is probably more likely to notice it, or something like it, and classify it as such. They are maybe even looking for it, where as you probably weren't/aren't. There are of course exceptions to the rule, and you simply just haven't experienced it. But I refer back to the query on your definition of special attention. Just some of my thoughts. Not saying they are completely right or anything. Personally, I have experienced it, and I'll often try to dissuade or suppress their need to treat me different, as opposed to taking advantage of it. In the end, I usually can't stop them, and I realise that (generally speaking), it actually makes them happy to do it. So I do let them. I guess I'd rather they be happy than sad. But I never take advantage of it.
  11. As a 33 year old male virgin, I play female characters because in my bleak view of reality, this is the closest I'll get to being with one. I often spend ages creating their look into the sort of girl I'd like to be with in rl. It is some strange attempt to pay tribute to the sort of girlfriend I'd like to have. If people assume I'm female I'll let them. I emulate the sort of girl I'd like to be with, which is someone understanding, compassionate and helpful. Understand that there is no malicious intent behind this. I enjoy helping people and will go out of my way to do that. Playing as a male character I just feel like I would be discarded and forgotten two seconds after the fact. I have chronic low self-esteem and self confidence, and the admiration/attention I receive helps me feel better. I never set out to hurt or manipulate people. I don't give a damn about items or loot. Why I couldn't play as a male character doing this? Who knows. I've been doing this for ages, it was a very gradual process of an accepted personal playstyle. Sure the usual reasons of staring at my character all the time while I'm playing, or the voice actress, all apply too. They contribute to it. Seven of my eight characters are female, and they all look like clones with minute differences. I have one male, and it's a Sith Inquisitor that I styled on Darth Maul (stereotypical I know). He's my outlet for any desire to play a male character. I'm sure there are other guys that have similar reasons to my own for playing female. But of course no one is likely to admit it for being ridiculed and shamed. You can't blame them really. If anyone's sitting back in their chair and scoffing at me, I don't mind. I'm not hurting anyone. I'm cordial and respectful of anyone I meet ingame. I'm sure this is the exact reply the people that make these threads want to hear, so you can go ahead and laugh at me now. p.s. it took a lot of courage to write this
  12. Argh how could I forget Michael Ironside. Cool suggestions though.
  13. Sorry if this has been done before. I just thought of this now and realised it might make for some interesting discourse. So, just list who you think would have been great if they had used them in the game somewhere. This does *not* have to only include actual voice actors. It could be anyone, more or less. If you want, you can state as what role or character too. For me, um.. Rik Mayall - not sure as what, maybe a totally bonkers Sith Lord Charles Dance - obviously an Imperial Grand Moff Mike Patton (from Faith No More) - maybe male Sith Inquisitor
  14. Hanasaki Sengaki Senestrius Masoka Naladaki Melegar Suratachi Salonini Murinin Ellafleur Collosar Junasiris Koromar Senichi Surimitar Haliniki Dubovar Renisi Zanavo Teleminus Orotalar Silapreni Sumirrion Lexilimus Zelethion Lavanni Polonoi Radovici Miritini I just made all those up. They're all a bit random, but maybe it will help you come up with variations and ideas of your own. Oh I forgot to add. Alitteration is a nice thing to consider. If you pick a surname with the same starting letter as your first name, it often flows nicely. Or can try something like the same letter as the 2nd or 3rd syallable, so in your case "m".
  15. All this. I surely hope they give us more slots. I had my 8 filled up already several weeks ago. :\ Especially now with the discovery of some of what Legacy will let us do. I don't particularly want to delete a character so that I can try a different race. :\ For anyone who says "you shouldn't have made all 8 slots yet", well maybe, maybe not.. but to be reasonable, BW were very not-forthcoming at the start about what sort of things Legacy system was going to include - or even, what Legacy system was. ._. I had no idea what it was, and the game is woefully bad at locking you into a name etc, when you hit this point for the first time and don't know anything about it. Sorry.. I went offtrack a bit there.
  16. Indeed! And better than the ones in game for Sith. The Sith armors make me think that if you attach two piece of strings to them, and throw them in the air, you could fly them as kites. Darth Baras is fairly big though, I don't think he'd be a stunt kite.
  17. Not just the red hair It was the whole thing; your attire also. :>
  18. Wow, you look like you should be an ingame character or something ;D Though without hi-res textures, it wouldn't be doing you justice.
  19. It's tremendous. I love the duros dancing bit. It's also really well edited, though most wouldn't draw attention to that.
  20. Do you use Win7? I have precisely the same situation as you. However, at the point where you reboot, I just hit ctrl+alt+del, bring up Task manager, which forces me to desktop, and I can happily click the Allow button. Then I can click back to TOR, and it's working fine. Don't know if that helps or not, but I'm sorry that you have to reboot each time. Quite a hassle.
  21. *cough* Er excuse me! You're not allowed to post in this thread if that is the case! Just kidding Lucky indeed, sounds cool. Doesn't she actually want to play the game with you?!
