  1. I'm not sure yet, but it appears that everyone is bolstered to max level gear. So the set bonus might be the only thing that differentiates you. I've upgraded slots in a warzone and saw no change in stats. Additionally, we're sitting on about 40K more health. If it is true that PvP instances bolster you to the top gear level, then gear becomes irrelevant for ranked. I wish I had someone in raid gear to test the theory.
  2. I didn't think they would do something as ridiculous as 20 exp per warzones. 600+ is reasonable for the time commitment.
  3. I somewhat agree, but on Hatred discharge seems silly since it is a DoT.
  4. It's about to get a lot worse later this month. Learn to enjoy the Electronets.
  5. With perhaps one exception, melee characters only have instant attacks. Basically all cast and channels were taken away, except for Shadow tanks. The reason appears to be to separate the classes further. As for Phase Walk, I'm guessing two teleports were too much for them.
  6. Is it true that almost all damage and healing abilities were reduced in potency?
  7. I was being conservative. Most people simply won't believe you can level that quick, although you can.
  8. You don't understand how fast leveling is right now. With double exp and the FREE exp boosts you get on the starter worlds, you can make level 65 in a couple of days. Or just pay to transfer. Or just move on. You have options, transfers were dirt cheap for months, they are still cheaper than they once were.
  9. Why not just announce the major mechanics changes and then do the livestream afterwards. Anyone who has seen the datamining knows what's going down, just looking for confirmation or denial that what we've seen is true. Also it would be nice to be able to discuss on the forums. Oh well, one more disappointing decision.
  10. Jherad, your argument depends on some assumptions: 1. Asymmetry in the rate of attainment; 2. Meaningful difference from gear; 3. Large numbers of one-play environment players The first is what you basically address. And yes, if gear is significantly easier to obtain via one playstyle or the other the you can have the problem you suggest. I'm not convinced that will be the case. I see a corollary to this and regular old experience. Right now, you can level extremely quickly in either PvP or PvE. Neither is significantly faster than the other, certainly not fast enough to change behavior. I've seen nothing to suggest that command exp will be different and I'm willing to wait and see if this problem materializes. As to the second, honestly I think folks obsess over gear differentials far too much. We're talking small percentages between tiers. I just don't see the difference between BIS and well-geared as enough to worry about. Finally, the CXP is trying to reward you for just doing any endgame activity. Sure, there are people who do absolutely nothing else other than PvP, but I gather they are a minority. There are just better games for pure PvP than this. I PvP the majority of the time, but in between I can do other things, except raiding which I hate, for reasons you mention. Honestly, to a certain extent people will need to have some perspective on this. It's not the end of the world or even the end of the game and if it really sucks, they will change it again.
  11. This won't affect me too much as I couldn't play prior to the maintenance so my commendations are spread out. I plan on spending them anyway. But the way this was handled was plainly dishonest. They tacitly encouraged people to put their commendations "on the character you want them on," which many read as their main. The next day they tell you that doing so hurts your ability to receive compensation. That's awful. I'm really shocked they could do something like that. It would have been more honest to just tell people they had to spend the commendations or they would be lost.
  12. It seems pretty clear to me that they expect you to spend your commendations. The removal of the ability to move warzone commendations around PRIOR to announcing the conversion cap was calculated and dishonest. No other reasonable conclusion can be drawn from the studio's actions. They knew if they had announced it earlier, people would have shifted their commendations around to maximize the payout. If you wanted to protect the economy, then you should have given something else in exchange for the commendations.
  13. It's literally the first sticky post.

    5.0 Ugh

We really don't have any idea how long it will take to fill out all our slots. Remember the mods and enhancements can be crafted. No set bonus gear can be bought. It's likely the mid range won't take that long to fill out at all. Why stress yourselves out about this now. The hearing system has changed multiple times over the game's lifetime. No doubt this is not the last iteration we'll see. Maybe one ranked season will be FUBAR, but I just don't see this doom and gloom you all do.
  15. Somehow despite the rumored nerfs, people will still complain about Sorcerers. Despite the rather large buffs, I suspect people will still complain about Mercenaries being weak. I hope I'm wrong, but this forum never ceases to amaze me.
  16. I had to stop doing PvP on my main because she was a broadsword/regen scrapper and she couldn't ever die. When people complain about Sorcs not dying they don't know how bad it could get.
  17. I think that's a great idea, but unlikely. I have a character I mostly PvP with who has 30K+ war zone commendations and capped PvE commendations. I suspect anything that would be fair to people with many less commendations would lead to much higher levels than they want for folks like me.
  18. Maybe, but bolster + old gear set bonuses is more than enough for regular warzones. Actually getting Ranked games is a myth on most servers so I'm not sure that changes much. The only thing about this that annoys me is the RNG boxes.
  19. That reminds me of City of Heroes. Blasters used to have melee attacks that hit like a truck.
  20. I think the loss of expertise is a good thing. The assumption that everyone is making is that you will need to raid or otherwise PvE to remain competitive. I don't think it will wind up that way. I think a dedicated PVP player will be able to gear themselves relatively quickly. There's no reason to believe they intend to grant raiders a dedicated advantage in PvP. The system lets you gear how you like to play. Remember, mods will be able to crafted. The loot boxes are primarily for set bonuses. Expertise was needed to ensure that raiders, who have exclusive access to the best gear can't dominate with that gear. Without that exclusivity, expertise serves no purpose.
  21. It may be that this Galactic Command thing will be a disaster. But we just don't know. The key issue for us to my mind is how fast Cxp is earned in regular warzones, as that affects when a person can plausibly start ranked. It could be that regular warzones take no longer to get top gear than it takes now to get T2 gear. If that is the case, then the only concern for PvP players is PvE folks joining to earn gear. But I think that's really a sunk cost at this point. Well, I'm just going to wait and see how it turns out.

    lol

    I remember, was not fun.

    lol

Yes in regulars, otherwise we go back to the days where many people are dead weight until they gear up.

    lol

I wonder how this will shake out. If I understand the devs right, we might be better off. PvP might give really good returns on time invested. Not a fan of the random crap though.
  25. It's rumored that Master Strike is becoming instant so this probably won't be a problem anymore.
