    Sigh....

Because tankassins did killer damage because they wore DPS gear.... I think you need to understand the problem before you can comment on the fixes and by making this comment I don't exactly agree with the fix completely. Armor wasn't the issue.
  2. Going to have to disagree on the popularity of Star Wars. Kids all over know what Star Wars is because The Clone Wars is on Cartoon Network and the Star Wars movies play on Spike TV almost every weekend lately and every holiday weekend for sure. Also Episode I was re-released in 3D recently and when I took my son to see the movie.. because he asked me... there were tons of parents with their kids. Have you ever been to Toys'R'Us, Target or Walmart and seen all the Clone Wars and old remakes of the original action figures? My son could tell you more about the Star Wars universe than I could at 6 years old. For a reference on age I am going to be 29 August this year. I have a couple Star Wars books put up in the closet and I play this SWTOR game. Other than that.. there isn't much Star Wars related content in the house other than my son's Lego Star Wars Trilogy game on the Wii and his action figures. Which is another thing. The Lego Star Wars has also introduced many generations to Star Wars since it is Lego and easy to play. I know women at work that play Lego Star Wars (because their kids have the game) and don't know anything about the real story.
  3. This is an interesting statement. What did Rift do different than other games? I am guessing you are talking about the PvP rifts that were basically like a instanced warfront, but in open world. No we don't need more of that. I say that only because there was entirely too much stone running as a PvP objective in Rift. Maybe you meant how the hubs were setup to encourage open world PvP. The higher level the quest hub the closer it was to the enemy quest hubs until you were practically figthing on top of each other doing the same quests. Now that I can see, but SWTOR isn't designed like that and they would have to completely redesign planets to be like that. Their 3 faction idea is pretty interesting. Especially since it is a 2 faction game to begin with, but all that map really sounds like is a 1v1v1 instanced warfront.
  4. I'm a Warhammer fan. Not sure city seiges would work in this game, but it would be awesome if they did something like that haha. I actually still play the free to play warhammer pvp lake some.
  5. That's easier said than done. Rebalancing all of the PvE content so that it's balanced around PvP. This is exactly whyI said it wouldn't be done anytime soon. They have 2 options if they want to realistically balance around arenas. One you hit on and the other is separating abilities to operate differently in PvP than PvE. Both are a huge project and unless they already started on it then it wouldn't be anytime soon. Otherwise anything you fix in PvP will break PvE and vice versa. Swtor wasn't built around PvP, but it was built around PvE. Large scale PvP doesn't require the same kind of tuning that arena does, because the nature of the beast. You will have classes that fill roles... like a raid group. Which is why they can implement Team ranked PvP now. The game is already fairly balanced around group PvP. Small group PvP is a completely different beast altogether. That's why I enjoy large scale so much because it's like raid v raid combat and the best strategist can win against a much larger number opponent.
  6. We are getting ranked now. So I would personally like WPvP before Arena, but then you already know that seeing as how I am against instances. I am a large scale PvP fan and Ilum was one of the key contributors for why I decided to get the game to begin with.
  7. Um they were doing so much damage because they lived long enough to do that damage. They were never a burst class or a hard hitting class.. they could hit hard on a shock proc, but not as hard as a DPS specced sin would. So yea, they nerfed them exactly where they needed... unfortunately that carries over to PvE though.
  8. You're right I am against instanced...which is why it is sad that it will probably have to be that way. This game is way too instanced as it is and adding more of that... not sure my brain can handle all the loading screens in the future. I don't agree that this game will die. Not like all the pessimistic posters hope it will. The worst case scenario is it will settle in the 200-300k sub range that EQ, DAoC, EQ2, Vanguard and pretty much every othere MMO falls in. There is so much good in SWTOR that it will never die... that and it is a Star Wars IP so you will have the loyal fans that stick around regardless. I mean there were people playing SWG after the NGE for a long time.
  9. Sadly, I know you could be right about that. I am still hoping they can optimize the game to allow open world. They wouldn't have polled us specifically looking to see what kind of Open world we are most wanting if they weren't planning to add it at some point, but it could end up to be like Winters Grasp or whatever the WoW map was that was for large scale pvp... instanced.
  10. Going to pull a Dmasterr and say... Source? If it comes, then it comes. I'm not going to worry about it. More PvP for the PvP community isn't a bad thing since there is no open world PvP. If they do add it before they fix open world PvP then they will have to have some very strong rewards to encourage people to PvP in the Open World. Otherwise there won't be enough people to PvP against. I am sure they are working on open world as a higher priority than arenas are currently. Since Ilum was supposed to be a major draw for open world PvP and it failed due to performance issue. Am I doing this right? Oh wait I need more colors!
  11. See, I can agree with this. The game wasn't intend for small scale pvp. I think balancing around small scale perfectly will never happen with as many classes and trees we have. They could add in arenas to appease the masses, but they won't be trully competitive because they won't be balanced to the point they need to be. Which is why i was offering up the Outlaw's Den idea... which will work on higher pop servers and not something realistic for the majority of servers right now.
  12. haha what now? Edit By the way, my marauder is one of my lowest level classes.
  13. Edited for your ninja edit.... I want pvp balanced and I have never said otherwise.
  14. They are just eliminating Biochem's influence in Warzones which isn't even all of PvP. You can still use Biochem in PvE and Open World PvP. So what you are really complaining about is BioWare taking your crutch away since you relied on Biochem for PvP in Warzones.
  15. Going to put it out there that i'm not really against BW adding arenas, just offering up support that 1 Blizzard dev said it was a huge mistake.. which doesn't mean all the devs felt that way and showing that you can do your own arena style battles in Outlaw's Den. Which is a great way to get your arena fix now. If BW could release arenas I just don't know how competitive they will actually be since the classes aren't really designed to be on equal footage against all other classes. It would be something that would likely take BW a very long time to implement and actually make it competitive. SWTOR was already semi-balanced around team play so adding ranked matches where you can fill in your weak spots with strong classes is easier to implement than smaller scale PvP that is more balanced. It wouldn't be a feature I would expect to see any time this year.
  16. Outlaw's Den... form your own ladder and tournament system for your server community. You can do all the 2v2, 3v3, 4v4s you could ever want against your faction and the opposite faction or is that too much to ask since there is already the pit there basically begging to be used for smale scale pvp? Edit Here is exactly what i am talking about.. other people are doing it already. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9OCEfUHxOA&feature=related My guild has even hosted an event like this on our pvp server. Death Wind Corridor. We asked participants to put in credits to buy in. Winners won the pot at the end.
  17. No it is too late, because to get a game to be e-sport competitive it has to be designed that way from the ground up. If the game is released like SWTOR, WoW, Rift or any other PVE game with PvP tacked on then it's too late to make it competitive. Fast forward to Guild Wars 2 which is designed from the ground up to be PvP and competitive and you have a shot at making a e-sport type game. It's time people realized this isn't the PvP game they were looking for. PvP is fun in SWTOR, but it is not and never will be the main attraction. The main attraction will be the PvE and the story complete with voice overs. Does that make me like SWTOR less? Sorta, I mean I was lead to believe it was going to have a strong well designed PvP portion that was started when the game was in development... instead we got another WoW, EQ2, or Rift where PvP was tacked on. But SWTOR is still fun and I can always play GW2 on the side.
  18. http://www.warcry.com/articles/view/interviews/6773-Five-Years-of-Warcraft-Speaking-With-Blizzards-Rob-Pardo.2 Specificially... What are you most proud of over the last five years? What was the biggest mistake you think you made? As for the biggest mistake? There's a lot of them that I think, were ... they just "fell out" of things. One example: I wish the servers were more stable when we launched, of course - there's a lot of that sort of thing. We have a lot of excuses for that - we didn't expect nearly the response - but we can't say it wasn't a mistake. If I was going to pick on a game design thing that I look back on and think was a mistake? We really never designed WoW to be a competitive e-sports game; it was something that we decided to start tackling because there was such a desire and demand to evolve it in that direction, to introduce competitive arenas. I'm not sure that that was the right thing to do with the game. We didn't engineer the game and classes and balance around it, we just added it on, so it continues to be very difficult to balance. Is WoW a PvE cooperative game, or a competitive PvP game? There's constant pressure on the class balance team, there's pressure on the game itself, and a lot of times players who don't PvP don't understand why their classes are changing. I don't think we ever foresaw how much tuning and tweaking we'd have to do to balance it in that direction. Either I'd go back in time to before WoW ever shipped and change the rules to make the basic game more conductive for being an e-sport, or if not that, just say it doesn't make sense. Right now, WoW has a bit of a schizophrenic philosophy behind it, and we're trying to figure out how to guide it.
  19. Right so then my question is if they are going to give free recruit sets... why not go the step further and make expertise a required stat on all your pvp gear before you enter? That way PvE and PvP will completely be separated like their over all goal was to begin with when they bumped up the expertise values across all the gear in 1.2. The turnover from going full recruit to battlemaster is pretty quick so people wouldn't spend that long with the recruit gear anyway.
  20. Yea, I would probably have both if I had biochem. I do that on my Sin, but my sniper has armstech. That way you have rakata as a backup for if you run out of wz medpacks, but the much smaller heal on the rakata makes the wz medpacks so much better. Also as the game progress the wz medpacks will heal more and more as your HP rises while the rakata medpacks will heal the same.. so unless there is another higher version that comes out then they will gradually get worse.
  21. Yep, both medpacks have the same CD. The Adrenals have a different CD than the medpacks. So if you are still using rakata mepacks in pvp... you should stop. This was changed in 1.2. So it shouldn't be new information.
  22. I don't know. It could be like Starcraft 2 and you have have mutliple teams and each team setup is ranked separately. So like if you have 8 of the same people and then sub 1 person then it will be a defferent team and start a new ranking. At least that is how I believe Starcraft 2 works and it seemed to make sense.. because a team is whatever you play with... and it starts a ranking after you have so many matches with that exact same team makeup. You didn't have to do 10 games back to back in 1 session.. it could be over many sessions, but as long as it was the same group you got ratings for that group. That way you could play in different teams and they all have a different rating. I think the point is so that you do have 1 hardcore team that is working on a rating for team ranked. Don't players still have the ability to earn a separate solo rank?
  23. Having played Aion, I dislike on-proc relics because they are usually very strong since they are only intended to go of once in a awhile. Otherwise the proc would be too small to really matter when it goes off. Hopefully they release balanced because I can already see the rage of people losing battles just because a persons relic procced at the right time and their relic didn't. RNG is bad for pvp in my opinion.
  24. I'm confused by your description. Does the wall start at the defenders crate and go almost to the attackers spawn or does the wall go from the attackers spawn to almost the defenders crate, or do the defenders have to go up and over the wall/crate to get to the other door? I'm hoping you mean it goes from the defenders crate almost to the attackers spawn so the defenders have to work a little harder to defend, but that also means bad teams will get curb stomped because for bad teams the respawn barrier is enough to cause them to lose.
  25. Really surprises me that people that had a sin have knee jerk responses like this. How did you not see this coming? I have a 50 sin... before you try to throw it in my face that I don't play one. I knew this was coming as well as every other Sin I talked to. You can't seriously think that BW intended for Sin to perform so well. Having said that, it would have been nice if they could have thrown us a bone in deception. I mean that is really what a lot of Sin's want anyway. Give us a reason to play deception outside of being fodder. I would gladly go back to my sin... I didn't roll one to be a psuedo pvp tank. I wanted to freaking stab people in the back with my lightsaber and actually hurt them instead of tickling them. I mean it is a lightsaber. I suggest you get on the PTS server if you want to contribute to getting sin's nerfed less severely. All the crying on the forums doesn't mean much when BW is looking for people to actually test their changes to make sure they are what they need to be changing.
