  1. Yes WoW's cash shop has clearly made the grind unbearable for millions. Sarcasm aside... I know that a lot of Asian F2P games DO offer stuff like that or even F2P LOTRO turned into that... but those are F2P games that have to have barriers to ensure income. P2P MMOs have steady income already. This is just something to add to the game and make a few extra bucks a long the way.
  2. As long as they don't sell BiS gear, or things that would impact PvP in any way then how is it a bad thing? Most of MMOs are going to micro-transactions for vanity pets, different appearance gear, mounts, emotes... all stuff that is completely optional and has zero impact on the actual game other than how your character stands out in the millions of players that are the same class/race. If games don't have a micro-transaction store than they usually have some sort of incentive program to get items for being subbed for a certain length of time. How is that any different than putting up the same type of items in a micro-transaction store which would allow you to get to those items faster? No one complains about the micro-transaction stores if they are done right. All those stores add is a little flavor to the game and a way for the companies to make a little extra cash. How many people do you know that have bought Avatar gear for the Xbox Live avatars? Most people have. If you are a PS3 fan, most people have bought something from the PSN store for their characters... it doesn't do anything, but add a little more personalization. How is that a bad thing? It doesn't mean the game is going under. It doesn't mean the game will be F2P anytime soon. You can take you tinfoil hats and put them back in your closet.
  3. Do you know anything about servers, server farms, VPNs or have any background knowledge that would lead you to believe that they couldn't have upgraded their servers? Because we do know that the super servers were announced... which also means they were planned well before they were announced. We know that as a paying customer that we are the last to know about any changes that will be coming. I am more likely to believe that the current server status is inaccurate and these servers are infact the super servers they annouced coming. Because unless they are closely monitoring these tranfers then they will have too many people funnelled to a server and if they are not the super servers then there will have to be a cut off point. They don't want to have unrealistic server queues because they funnelled too many people to a server. So what happens if a origin server is cut from the original destination server and forced to go to a new one? Is that something that BioWare wants to tackle? Are they prepared for the out lash of divided communities and guilds because of cut offs? Or are there really so few players left that BioWare can fit all those people on old servers?
  4. I was going to read this until I saw the wall of text. If you want people to read it you will have to fix your mess.
  5. See how assumption is a funny thing. You didn't post anything new. You just stated you have no clue if they are the new super servers or not... which is what I already said. From the past we do know that servers with queus usually had 150+ people on the fleet at any given time which lagged the fleet... but not the enire server. So any guessing we do is just that... guessing. Until BioWare makes an official claim... all we can do is guess.
  6. What's funny to me is people making all sorts of claims that have no basis. We don't know how many active subscribers BioWare has. We don't know how many active players could play on 1 server without it capping off with a queue prior to transfers. We don't know if these are new super servers they created or if they are just filling normal servers and the super servers come later. For all we know these servers could be based off EVE that uses server clusters and you don't even pick a server to go to. Maybe The Fatman is just a label of a huge server cluster so people have something to identify with and unlike EVE there is an option on which server cluster you could start on. People assume that super servers can't hold that many people because past MMOs. Everyone does know that The Fatman was already a heavy to full server and it has 7 servers transferring to it already. So we can guess that these are the new super servers... but that still doesn't tell us how many active players can be on 1 server at a time, how many active subscribers BioWare has or how the servers are actually setup to even try to gauge how many users are on them. We also don't know if BioWare is going to close The Fatman once they have a set number of people that transferred and start a new server to funnel people to. All we can do after all is said and done is do a /who by class to see how many people are on in a snap shot in 1 faction. Then do the same for the other faction. That will give you a rough idea of how many people can be on at 1 time based on the server status and probably give us a good indication if these are actually the new super servers.
  7. 85 players on last night 10:35pm empire side. That is all... That is boarder line just dead. I mean it's sad that I get excited if I happen to run into the 1 or 2 other people on a planet just because I saw someone. I would hate to have checked republic side... probably 1/2 the population of empire.. 40ish players. That's horrible. To get that number I did a /who by class. It brings up anyone online no matter what zone they are in... by the class you type in. Easier than doing a /who by zone.
  8. It did state that you chould change your Legacy name or keep the same one if it wasn't taken on the destination server. Now everything says you keep the same Legacy if it isn't taken and can only change it if it's already taken on the destination server. Kinda lame, but I can understand how that can help streamline transfers. Don't have to worry about a bunch of people changing legacy names when they transfer over and locking others out of a legacy they had on the Origin server... I know some people that would probably do this on purpose to mess with others. In Aion there was a guild that stole a bunch of guild leader character names that were posted as their names pre-launch on the forums. The legacy name thing could potentially have caused the same issue.
  9. Right I realize that with 123 NA servers the chances of my server making the list is pretty slim. I'm not overly worried about it. I have the Sith Inquisitor story to finish on my sin and can work on some dailies each night on my main, so I have things to do. Just wish I could PvP again. I think I got about 4 pre-50 pvp matches in on my marauder before the queues stopped popping. That was from 8-10:30 last night.
  10. Here's hoping my server gets on that list today. Death Wind Corridor... but i'm not too optimistic about it. For fun last night at 10:35pm CDT I did a /who for each class on empire. 85 players found... that is all. You can give or take probably 5 people or so logging off and on in the time it took me to get those numbers. My server is pretty freaking dead.
  11. Very nice, as a forum lurker this will make finding important posts so much easier. Hated having to going through pages and pages of crap to see if a Dev posted.
  12. This is'nt exactly accurate. Stealth classes can't been seen until you are up close if they are specced for stealth. Most sins are tankasin specced and don't take improved stealth.. so yea you can see them quicker. If they are deception specced or an operative that is actually concealment specced then you would have to literally be on top of them to see them. At which point you would have to sneak up on them to catch them like that or they were already closing the distance to you and you moved so they weren't behind you anymore. Otherwise you won't be seeing a stealther with improved stealth... so the AOE stealth detection before you get into a bad situation is never a bad idea. BTW Concealment and Deception are the least played specs... so seeing a stealther in a stealth spec is kinda rare, but since the scanner is ranged it's worth upgrading and any stealth class without improved stealth will be clearly visible before you get close to them.
  13. Because RP servers can role play that there are more people on their servers. ... I kid..don't kill me.
  14. Since the point of the first transfers is largely a test to make sure no problems arise.. it's probably best to do it at time where NA servers are not hitting peak and since EU is nearing peak... they have less servers transferring. That way if problems arise less people are affected so they can correct the issues. But the playerbase doesn't think outside of their small confined box.

    Razer Naga

Not sure I could live without my naga. I use all 12 buttons on the side for my sniper. Running 30 keybinds total without having to use a function key is awesome. I have had instances of my character getting stuck in a running motion, but spamming a few keys usually fixes it and it rarely ever happens. I don't use any macros. Just the numpad set to the side buttons.
  16. DPS merc in arsenal spec is pretty much just as mobile as a sniper in Marksmanship spec. Both run heavy on cast timers and cover isn't nearly has limited as a lot of people make it seem. On topic, Sniper is my favorite class so far in Marksmanship spec. With the 1.3 respecs coming I will probably try out engineering again and lethality. Just don't like lethality because it doesn't feel like a sniper and is focused on DoTs. Sin was fun, but got boring fast for some reason. Voltaic slash is one of my favorite lightsaber animations by far.
  17. ^ I lol'd for real. Oh and for the dual core comments. While Dual Core is outdated as far as processor progression is concerned. No games that I know of currently go higher than dual core support. So if you are someone like me with a 6 core processor... then I basically have 3 cores wasting away. Graphics on highest in this game in a warzone and my processor is only working at ~45% capacity and never goes higher unless I am streaming Netflix or Pandora at the same time... which I do a lot and that still doesn't take me over 50% capacity. I have 8gb of ram and never go over 50% capacity either. Running SWTOR alone usually keeps me in the 31% ballpark. So that tells me that this game can't use more than 4gb of ram ever. Which is also fairly normal for todays standards. The only weakpoint on my system is my outdated video card. Hopefully I can replace that soon enough and get higher framerates. Currently hovering the 45fps range on max settings. Unfortunately going to lower settings doesn't really improve my FPS much so might as well enjoy the graphics I can get. Running on a EVGA Nvidia 260 GTX 765mb overclocked using the percision software.
  18. They have other factions that could be used for a 3rd faction and they could allow similar classes into those factions. Some splintered group of Mandalorians, the reminants of the Star Cabal, maybe a more zealous group of Revanites, or even some elite group of the Exchange. I am sure you could pull other factions into the mix and they have enough resources in the lore/story to be able to have all the classes in there faction. I don't think BioWare will ever add a permanent third faction though. I could see them doing something a long the lines of Rift where you have 3 factions you can choose between for a specific PvP event so that way they could pull players from both factions into those 3. I think that is probably the best idea. I really hope there is some serious open world PvP coming. Dominus and The Elder Scrolls will be tempting when they come out and GW2 is already very tempting for someone that likes large scale battles. I'd rather stay with SWTOR to get my large scale pvp fix since I am tired of elves, dwarvs and high fantasy settings and nothing in Dominus's lore is really that appealing to me... just another Sci-Fi game.
  19. Except the only random element to their PvP rifts was how many players would actually show up. While the rifts started out great it only took 2 weeks for people to stop trying to pvp at them and only run stones at the rifts without enemy players. The rifts themselves really only catered to the rogue class because they would catch the solo stone runner and kill them... I know I was one of those rogues most of the time because like I meantioned before... enemies would go to rifts that didn't have enemy players around them so they could get PvP rewards without PvPing. With the ability to transfer servers once a week for all players if there was ever opposition on a server then that guild would just transfer to another server so they didn't have to compete. Otherwise in Rift you had to get a stone and carry it in the garden map, the capture the flag map, and the port scion map. Since that wasn't enough stone running they recreated the CTF map to have more stones. Then they made the library which was exactly like the garden but with... 2 stones instead of 1. So they had this bright idea to bring stone running to open world.... So yea... their instances were the same as the open world. The only warfront that didn't have stone running was a territory map where you had 4 points you could hold... just like WoW and SWTOR with civl war. So excuse me if I don't think Rift brought anything special to the PvP scene. Their rifts failed just like Warhammer's Public Quests before it. Cool idea at first, but not enough to keep players coming back to do them. The only rifts that were ever done were the dailies.. because they were dailies.. they weren't done for fun. They weren't "dynaminc" at all. You knew exactly how the rift would be each time you opened it.
  20. I'm NOT really ARGUING with you, BUT I am wondering WHAT it would look like to mix YOUR typing style with Dmasterr's COLOR arrangement. THE problem is THAT people don't UNSTERSTAND how hard it ACTUALLY is to BALANCE a GAME with so many VARIABLES. ESPECIALLY when the GAME was ORIGNALLY designed to BE balanced around PVE and PVP WAS thrown on later. I'M not saying THAT it can't be done, BUT it will take a LONG time to implement which is probably WHY BW hasn't touched the SUBJECT. Oh, it would look something like that... haha amusing.
  21. NEVER underestimate the POWER of BADS in LARGE numbers.
  22. The fact that you are playing a tankassin contributes greatly to the success you will have in 1v1s considering it's probably the most powerful 1v1 class in the game. Marauders are a close 2nd, but they don't have the nifty vanish + sap + seethe combo to get out of trouble like sin.
  23. I like this idea. Hopefully BioWare is working on something similar to this now.
  24. Actually there was 1 pull with a hazard that was cool. The pull to the fire followed by the spike for the knockdown in the fire. I don't see that often. That is clever. You used to see the pull to the endzone a lot back when you could pull them and kill them in the respawn and it wouldn't count as a score because they didn't walk into the end zone. Now you pull and if the ball crosses the line at all it counts as a score as long as the enemy has the ball.
  25. I agree that was the coolest set of pulls and something I haven't seen in my thousand plus matches. Too bad that pull will no longer happen in 1.3. The rest though... just using hazards, pulling off ledges or pulling a sorc in force speed... not impressive and seen in any huttball match you play.
