  1. In terms of actual functionality (actually being able to communicate effectively and efficiently with other players) all three get the job done just fine. I personally switch between vent and ts3 depending on who I happen to be playing with. The ability to customize codecs on TS3 is undeniably better, I'm not sure I'd consider the bandwidth effects all that important however, as voice bandwidth is not all that high (this may be important to some individuals, particularly if you have, or play with someone who has, highly limited bandwidth) All 3 programs do have mobile device apps although they may not all be available on all mobile OSs. I know iOS has all three, although the mumble app is the only one that is free (a positive point in mumble's favor for any iPhone user). The other features I would personally describe as fluff and consider largely irrelevant. If you're interested in fluff, then for sure TS3 is the way to go, otherwise I'd say all 3 will get the job done just fine.
  2. Given that 60,000 CC would currently run a price of roughly 435 USD alone this is a pretty wild wish list.
  3. I think there's tons of room for good mmos in the market, I just think that devs need to do their homework and avoid design mistakes that have already been made by past games. Unfortunately, from what I have seen so far BW doesn't seem to be very good at this. There is certainly going to be more and more competition and only the best products are going to survive and prosper. As a previous poster said, they aren't comparing this directly to wow after years of polish, but most people also aren't going to compare it to old mmos at launch either. Swtor has to either compete or die, just like every other game.
  4. Without major improvements, no. 11 months is a long ways off though so who knows.
  5. Unless of course you are a pvp developer, then you have to wait 240 days due to 'Dev Imbalance'. Also don't forget that the first tier of bags has a 1/10 chance of having either your paycheck or just a picture of an old paycheck you already cashed (and no, you don't get extra food stamps for the latter).
  6. Sadly, this is very accurate. As a 50 in nearly full champ gear, if I could turn off leveling on alts I would totally do this. Expertise simply provides way too much advantage with no entry level gear to bridge the gap. Even 2v1 fresh 50's are just free kills.
  7. The random lottery system is fail. It has been done and abandoned/reworked in past mmos. BW devs were just to stupid to realize this and avoid the mistake to begin with.
  8. Random bag loot is part of the problem, however a much larger issue is the lack of any easily obtainable entry level gear. yes there was a gear gap in wow, but there were crafted pvp alternatives with resil to get you started in the grind. BW needs to put back the blue level entry gear or just make centurion more accessible as an entry level set. As it stands now centurion is just a stop gap for the stupidity of the random bags so you get something useful despite countless champion duplicates.
  9. #1 has been suggested more times on this forum than I could possibly count. It has also been sent as feedback in game through CS. I'm just convinced that the Devs are hell bent on trying to see if they can make every major mistake any other mmo has ever made.....
  10. Are people that start threads with "Discuss!" a joke?

    Jedi Guardians

I play a 50 Guardian and quite enjoy it. The class doesn't really come into its own until the mid levels (25 through 35) when you start to get your toolbox abilities (push, stasis, sabre throw ect). Once I made it to this point the class was much much more fun to play.

    Arena gear

As I said, I would support a competitive rated alternative as the alternative route to pvp gear, as long as there is an alternative to just arenas. How would a competitive rated matchmaking warzone system be any less competitive a route than a rated arena system? I'm by no means suggesting the current system where you can just show up and go afk should be the alternative, obviously a similar level of effort should be required. As to my second point, it is a perfectly fair assessment. If we are going to have only ONE route to gear which is trivially chosen based on the preference of only some players why not just pve raiding? (note that I'm by no means advocating for this but just pointing out what I consider the stupidity in insisting arenas be the ONLY path)
  13. That assassins are in serious need of a nerf????
  14. Players are actually sorted initially by medal count (not that this is necessarily any better) Honestly though you shouldn't really be concerned about mvp. It is nothing more than a simple way to show some nearly meaningless appreciation for someone you thought was good. each vote is 1 extra commendation and a trivial amount of valor. It really isn't going to make one spec of difference in your gear/valor grind.
  15. This would be interesting, or even the ability to trade X champ commendations for a BM token. This would allow BW to largely keep face with their rng system and allow players at least get something for those champ commendations they don't need.
  16. Warzones are based on having (on average) roughly equal teams both with an opportunity to win. A premade is much more coordinated than a pug and most often uses outside communication which generally violates this premise as they have a vastly increased chance to win. It's not so much a case of pugs should have an equal chance of beating premades as pugs should face against pugs and premades should face against premades as then each team is back to being on (roughly) equal footing. Assuming that there are sufficient people queuing as both pugs and premades to ensure matches this should be the case. In the current system of single server queues however there is not a large enough pool of players to draw from to ensure reasonable queue times. Any premade that feels the need to be consistently matched against pug teams which they have a clear advantage in communication and coordination over really doesn't deserve to win anyway. Everyone does deserve the opportunity to play however.

    Arena gear

Because different paths are different and some people prefer a different play style? I would be fine if the alternative was a competitive rated warzone system, I just don't like the arena play style and don't appreciate it being forced down my throat as the only pvp options simply due to being the only way to get the gear required to be competitive in all other pvp. heck if we're gonna make arenas the only path to pvp gear why don't we just make raiding the only path to BiS gear period and make all the pvpers do pve. It's really no different.
  18. So I was in a huttball match when this sorcerer attacks me with this crazy lightning attack for like 81% of my health. As this point I'm like "Woah" and I snare him and try to run out of los but he morphs into this bear breaking all cc an mauling my face for like a million damage while shooting fireballs from his eyes!!!!!!!111!! I managed to slip around a corner to try and heal up but he poped back into this wild elf chick and hit me for a 10k heartseeker crit that damn near 1 shots me. At this point your servers just lagged out massively while he flew aroud me in circles doing ad autocannon damage while his drones tore me apart.!!!!!11!! Seriously if you guys don't nerf this **** RITE NOW youre gonna lose like OVER 9000 subs by a week from tuesday!1!1!!! Did I do it rite??

    Arena gear

I'm all for it being awarded under the assumptions that it is either: a) also obtainable from non arena pvp means or b) only usable in arena pvp. I personally like to do casual pvp but do not particularly enjoy arena death matches as I find them rather stale and boring. Arena only top end pvp gear means my options are: a) do arenas for gear or b) be at a major disadvantage in all other pvp.
  20. A simple 15 second 'WAI' post would probably be warranted in this case. It is a major issue of understanding the mechanics in game and will seriously affect the pvp play style of a sizable chunk of players. I understand BW isn't going to respond to every trivial thread but this is a fairly well written and well documented breakdown in general understanding of how game mechanics do/are intended to work and has generated quite a bit of interest.
  21. Obviously anytime you see a friendly target being attacked tossing a taunt on the attacker is going to be valuable. As far as specific situations you can be very useful and/or rack up a ton of protection by watching for high burst situations for single target taunts (ie that stealthy that just opened up on your healer or the sniper/gunslinger up on the ledge focusing people while being ignored) or aoe situations like that sorc/sage aoeing 4-5 people. As for aoe taunts during any large cluster fight such as a zerg on an alderaan node or a voidstar door or anytime you see someone being zerged by multiple individuals is a good opportunity.
  22. Assuming said team is there just for the valor/xp bonus for winning sure. If their objective is to win for the daily then this is not true as the tiebreaker win will not count for it. Also, if a team manages to allow the entire opposition team to stand in their endzone for 1:58 seconds then they probably deserved to lose anyway. The simple fact of the distance between spawn points would allow the team to break out unless they were playing a team that could have simply overpowered them and won anyway. In the case of a close match with only a few seconds left this could apply, however that team would be taking the risk of perhaps not scoring due to one timely knockback/cc and thus there is a risk reward element to it to justify the strategy.
  23. I like the idea of rewarding the team. The scorer doesn't need any further rewarding though. Scoring is a team event. Even if you carried the ball and walked the whole way you didn't do it with either no heals or teammates killing the opposition before they get to you. Even a pvp geared tank is going to be taken down by 8 opposition players before they can walk to the goal line without any support.
  24. Just make it a single one time medal for X passes then.
