  1. Here, this is what a talented player can do with commando:
  2. There are d-bags in every game, on every server. Join a guild. Add friendly people to your friends list - hell, try to convince someone you know to play the game with you. Playing with "randoms" is just that: Random. But don't worry, most of us know who the bad, self-absorbed players are: The ones complaining they can't get a group on fleet, while everyone lols at 'em. Without a cross-server lfg, people you group with are more easy to identify. There are a few well known jerks on my server, and most likely, they'll have to re-roll cuz most of the "decent" players won't go near 'em.
  3. You die to 2-3 lighting strikes hitting at once? You're probably gettin hit by 3 sorcerers at the same time, plus probably some other dps who don't have flashy animations.. NO class can survive that, except maybe a tank with blown CDs.. And the shield adds 3k hp. 3khp is ONE crit. At full health, with shield on, an operative can take me down to around 25% before I get up from a knockdown, 50-60% if I can blow my cc trinket, shield, and sprint. Shock (our instant cast) usually hits around 1.5k, force lightning hits for around 650+ a tick, chain lightning might crit for 2k if Im lucky. Deathfield is probably my hardest hitting, usually around 2k, maybe 3k with a crit. Our spells don't hit that hard, but add in dot damage, it can build up quick. Of course if the sorcerer is geared, and you're rocking greens/blues, you will be owned, but you can say the same with any class.
  4. RPGS include character progression. Unless you want to strip out ALL levels and gear from SWTORO, it won't make a dang difference. Instead of those with pvp gear stomping you, it will be the people with Raid gear stomping you. You want completely even "pvp" where no one person ever has any advantage over another? Play a FPS - and even then, most FPS have a progression where those who play more get the most tools/kits to outplay the competition. In a competitive environment, SOMEONE has to lose, and with most people's mindset now-a-days, they never lose because they got outplayed, but because someone had some type of unfair advantage. You know that guy who complains constantly in general during a pvp match, crying that every class is op, or everyone is playing unfairly? Yeah, that guy makes up 80% of the tear-filled posters here.
  5. Sorcs are definitely NOT underpowered.. Overpowered? I don't believe so. There are tons of people who think pvp should be like pve - where they can solo 3 people by themselves, and survive no problem. It seems on most WZs NO ONE knows how to interrupt, nor use LOS. I used los on a sniper, would dot him, hide behind a pillar, pop out and shock him, run again, etc etc.. I ended up soloing him with him hitting me maybe once or twice. He then started sending multiple "hate" tells, telling me how OP my class was, and that he coulda beat me no problem if i wasn't so "OP". He SAT IN THE SAME SPOT, let me use los, and basically ate all the damage I threw at him, but it wasn't HIS fault.. Or I hear "Well I got chain stunned and killed by 3 sorcerers!" Well, here's a protip, don't think you can run into a group of 3 enemies (of ANY class) and win. Sorcerers DO NOT have the highest burst, we don't have the highest sustained dps either. We also have the lowest health and armor. Our shield can be broken in ONE crit. Sorcerers ONE strength is utility. And if we want the "best" dps, we can't spec into those handy CC skills. If the constant whiners achieve getting sorcerers nerfed, they'll just jump on whatever next class that kills them in pvp. Bhs/commandos doing 500k+ a round? Or sents/warriors doing the same? This will become a never-ending "nerf" cry. You can ALREADY find threads claiming EVERY profession is OP in some way. I think it's the fact that sorcerers can sprint/shield away in a losing fight. I've done it a million times - get in a fight, notice I'm taking heavy damage, so I shield/sprint, then set-up an ambush. Usually the person in question will follow along like a sheep, them BAM, he get's ambushed and owned, then I'll notice that same person chasing me all over, trying there hardest to kill only me (obviously pissed). You wanna take away our utility? Buff our sustained DPS or burst - but be careful what you wish for.. Unless you want sorcerers to be the class with not utility, sub-par dps/burst (compared to the other dps classes) and the easiest to kill (which sounds like what most of the constant whiners want, every class be a free kill EXCEPT for whatever class they play). A sorcerer won't out-burst you, he won't outlast you with armor/health, BUT, if they use those skills that don't really do damage, they can outplay you and win. That seems to be what's getting everyone up in a tizzy. Pit any other class against a sorcerer, and let them just blow all their skills till one dies, sorcerer will lose every-time, UNLESS the sorcerer uses LOS, sprint, using the general area around them, they will use. You can't sit still and face-roll on your keyboard and win, unless they totally out-gear their opponent, or they have team support (3v1 situation). I have personally won 2v2 with me (sorc) a buddy (marauder, not geared very well) vs 2 champ geared sages without either me nor the marauder dying. Now, if sages/sorcs were soooo op, shouldn't they have won? Or at least killed the marauder?
  6. Affliction is instant cast and works good, if you're a lightning/madness pvp spec, drop deathfield (bonus for dots) affliction, spam force lightning for wrath, insta crushing darkness. It might be a good idea to open up with the whirlwind stun (cc, then dmg for the stun) and if they trinket out of it, cast shock to stun em again. In a 1 on 1, overload and force slow are also a must to keep as much range as possible too. Always try to keep the deathfield debuff on your target for the dot bonus damage too. if affliction get's cleansed, reapply asap, affliction is your only insta/no cd dot, so apply it liberally, and never waste a wrath proc, if crushing darkness is down, use chain lightning, even if it's only 1 target. If you can keep out of range long enough, you shouldn't have any problems with the shadow. Never be afraid to use force speed, and for god's sake, don't back-pedal or keyboard turn, or you will be eaten.
  7. You can kill the last boss without KBs as long as you can dps him down before the end of the 4th one on one fight. We accomplished this by having the healer (me) dps as much as humanly possible. If he isn't below 25% by the time he calls the third person's name, you're screwed. We beat him using the following group composition - Jug (tank) Sorc (healer) sniper and marauder for DPS. We are also decently geared, and as guildies, were using vent. The sniper ended up getting the kill-shot as soon as his one on one began. Most people aren't rocking great gear yet, and pugs are notoriously un-focused. It seems many people are used to running WoW heroics grossly overgeared, and expect to be able to do the same thing as soon as they hit 50 in this game. Spamming aoes with auto-follow on, while watching TV will not make for a successful run. When everyone has full t2+ gear, everyone will be able to roflstomp the content, but for now, most hard-modes require a little bit of thought. I try to only do hard-modes with guildies for now, as I've had a few groups with the tank in level 40 greens/blues, with 11k health fully buffed, wondering why they get two-shot in HM Battle for illium. That's right, I can't heal you if a boss hits you for 6K+ a shot (or a 10K crit). Many folks falsely believe they can skip the regular level 50 instances and go straight to the level 50 HMs with level 45 blues on. Eventually, people will have the gear that enables them to carry poorly equipped group members, but for now, one weak dps can mean the difference between total success, and total failure.
  8. Implement a deserter debuff, and those same people that would of dropped the warzone will now just go stand somewhere they're hidden from view - I already see people doing this during a losing voidstar/alderan match - so instead of possibly getting someone who isn't a total chicken-turd (really guys, trying to attack and dying to the other team has no penalty, other then to your e-peen, but when getting pounded, groups of 3 will run screaming like a little girl at the appearance of ONE red name) you have to deal with half your team cowering in a corner, refusing to throw out a heal/dot/dd or even a buff, resulting in the only people "brave" enough to fight the other team even more handicapped. Pretty much darned if you do, darned if you don't - the bads will figure out a way to ruin it for everyone else no matter what system is implemented. The best is when the the losing team manages to cap one turret, then the whole team stands around that turret, gawking at each other, while the other winning team does the same thing, only spread out among both of their turrets, and NO ONE fights.
  9. LOL! On my server, at the start, empire was owning most WZ's, and I'm guessing all the bad pubs rerolled empire, so now, every match we have swarms of level 12's against a full team of level 50 champion/bm geared pubs (and for some reason, almost all of those level 12s are operatives, who are absolutely useless at low lvl.. hmmm). But it is funny, when empire is getting steamrolled by a premade, the lowbie solo pubs get brave, and will try to 1v1 a fully geared level 50 (when getting steamrolled, I will use hit and run tactics, drop a quick aoe, dot a few people, then run, usually 1 person will try to chase me too far, and I'll turn around and eat 'em). Usually, I only steamroll the pubs when I queue with my guildies - and it's funny, all of those steamrolling pvp pub guilds will drop the WZ when they have to fight another premade using vent (Although most lowbie empire players seem to drop from the WZ as soon as they see certain guilds that run premades, if they are running a premade or just solo queuing.) At the moment, on my server at least, it seems like the pubs currently have the level and skill advantage, but lack the numbers we have. While queuing solo, you'd be lucky to get a 50% win rate as empire, usually it's closer to 25%.
  10. I'm a playing a lvl 50 sorc right now in half BM/blues, and sure, I can top the damage and kills scoreboard... if left alone. Usually, a competent team will notice little 'ol me spamming dots and lightning, and can easily lock me down and kill me. If my "trinket" skill, sprint, and shield are all off cool-down I can usually escape, but if I have more then one person on me, its almost a guaranteed death. Sorcerers die VERY easily, and any smart sorcerer will retreat as soon as they're focused. If no one pays attention to us, we can "turret" in one place, and put out a lot of damage over time, but our "burst" damage isn't really that strong. We need to be safe and still to do good dps, on the run all we can really do is affliction, shock, and slow. The thing I think we're actually best at is escaping a lost battle, with our stun, overload, force slow, sprint, instant cc with a 2sec stun on damage (needs to be specced), and of course our shield, but if I get stunned more then once while retreating, i'm usually a dead man.
