  1. I also heartily agree. As someone who has played and is playing on a US server in the off-peak times, finding a group can be nigh impossible for the most part, and it would help to not have to go through the Heroic cutscenes except with the group I'm going to do it with.
  2. I think it is worthwhile. And like I said to Jaren, if you are interested, feel free to look up Red Parallel (the guild) and any of its members once the server transfers happen later in the month. At the moment we're aiming for the Aussie PvP server. Conversely, if you're playing around the GMT10+ timezone and are willing to reroll, look us up on Vulkar Highway (message Qlau, Speri or Sova, my characters). I'll grab one of them and help you level... depending on time, of course. That way, when server transfers happen, you can switch over with your mains too.
  3. I've played on both PvE (during beta, and on the RP one in Australia) and a PvP server (VH, my current home). There's a bit difference in the atmosphere of the server, I think. I'm sadly not yet in a position to really get deeply involved in PvP, since the lag makes it more difficult. I've played a couple of warzones, but I have also engaged in some one-on-on fights out in the world. The first was a draw. Neither of us could best the other. The second was an unfair engagement - the person was obviously trying to complete a quest, so I ganked him. Three times. He got me once too, since I think I must've been on the same (but opposite faction) mission. It adds another element to the gameplay. Not only are you fighting for the Republic/Empire when missions are made available and advancing the cause that way, but you're also involved on a personal level. I'm looking forward to seeing that character again on Belsavis... I think it is forgiving. If you're fighting warzones, it might be different, but lower levels and out in the open countryside, it's easy to get involved. I'm not a hardcore player at all. It's taken me since Early Access to get to lvl42 with my main, so I think I can say that from personal experience. No total dedication required.
  4. Hi there, Jaren. I'm in the same boat. My main characters are on a US East Coast server, Vulkar Highway, but I will be moving with my guild to the Aussie PvP server when that becomes an option. But linking up with a group is always tough for me too. In the time since Coruscant, I've grouped maybe a dozen times, mostly with guildies. From Taris to Hoth, only thrice. It sucks for a couple of reasons - no opportunity for Social points (although after grouping on Hoth, we went and farmed Social points on the Esseles... that was fun!) and no opportunity to experience the Heroics as they were intended (solo'ing is fine, but the loot is useless to that character and/or companions). I'm looking forward to getting to a more populated server in the near future. Anyway, what I forgot to say before I hit "Submit" was that if you do migrate to the Asia/Pac PvP server ("Master Dar'nala", feel free to look up Qlau, Speri or Sova from the Red Parallel guild. Always happy to group!
  5. Courtesy of Torhead.com Power Crystals... Colour Crystals... And in case you need them, Gemstones How's that?
  6. It's a big download. Be patient, my young apprentice.
  7. I was thinking after reading the PvP devblog this morning about PvP matches that could be different from the norm. My main idea was something along the lines of a PvP match that pits two or three of one faction vs. five or six of the other (intentionally, not just because of server imbalance!) in a raid-like scenario. They have to get in, blow something up, get out. Obviously there'd have to be something to balance them apart from just numbers, but it would be fun to take my Jedi Shadow against a larger player-based force to destroy or capture an objective. What other kinds of "imbalanced" scenarios could there be?
  8. I've found this too. As a Jedi Shadow, I've managed to do some of the 2+ ones solo at or a little above level, but otherwise I consider myself to be saving up the Heroics for my alts...
  9. Not really. The transfer system, once it can handle the Aussies, et al, will be implemented for the wider community, I'm sure. The reason for the hold up is the software to do the transfers. That's been repeatedly repeated. Just people don't listen so well, I guess. The light server population is linked to the transfers issue. If they had the ability, we'd be on different servers. Because they don't have the ability in place, or haven't got it sorted yet, it means we're still (myself included, on Vulkar Highway at o'god o'clock US time) waiting where we are. tl;dr - support the Aussie transfer process, it will end well for the whole community.
  10. The other aspect of this is clicking 'Need' for alts or companions.
  11. Wow. That was deep. So I could say that SWTOR will never be patched again and be right, just because someday it will be taken offline and never be patched again...? Not particularly helpful. The patch is due in April, most likely along with or just before the server transfers for the Asia/Pacific mobs. When you open the launcher, there is a button next to the settings button on the lower left hand side. Click that and follow the instructions. It's a big download, too, FYI.
  12. So once you hit 50, things change? That's what I'm not clear on. I'm mostly making my own purple enhancements/hilts/crystals, so it's not a worry, and I have guildies and alts to help with armouring and such. These seem better than the commendations ones.
  13. Hey there, I'm not really a new player, per se. I was able to play during the beta, and as a result preordered and was in from the start. I am, however, a n00b when it comes to MMOs, so was wondering if I could get a bit of help. I've just earned enough Fleet Commendations for the Civvy Pilot outfit sold by the Starship Upgrades droid on the republic fleet. I'm also Social I and so can use the items. My question is this: with the correct mods, etc, will/can this set of orange armour be viable for me upto and including lvl50 and raid stuff? Or will it all change then? I'm enjoying my Jedi Consular not being in robes but in a pilots uniform instead. Additionally, what constitutes Battlemaster gear, why is it so important and will it be better than my orange stuff fitted with end-game mods? Cheers!
  14. Characters on the PTS are persistent, apparently. So although you can't import your characters across from your main server, you can keep a character going from 1.0.1 through to x.x and beyond on the PTS.
  15. I tried out the PTS a couple of nights ago, and I was really pleased. In addition to the UI customisation (which is really addictive), the FPS rate was up dramatically. 93-101 people on Tython, and where I'd been getting 20-25fps with the settings all on low and off, at 1600x900, I was getting an average of 60-65fps with everything except shadows on high, at 1920x1080. It was awesome. As far as having a Sith smuggler, why not? Or a Chiss Jedi? I like the idea of playing a rogue Chiss or Sith who's taken up with the republic. It would be nice if there was a stigma to playing those races on the republic side, or the Miralukans on the other, but I'm content. It seems pretty cool to me. I'm also in this game for the story stuff, with the occasional PvP encounter to enjoy now and then, so I'm not worried about mods and armour and being TEH WINNAZ. I'll just enjoy the game as is, and if they keep making it better (with patches and updates like this one), I'm happy.
  16. Would be cool to add a bonus if the point # comes up in the total too, say an extra 100-500c?
  17. The new character gets merged into your existing Legacy. If you get that character to Legacy level before the server transfers, whichever Legacy is the highest level is the one they merge into.
  18. Anyone hear anything good? Nicole from the Sith Heads podcast mentioned a couple of things, the main of which (for me) being that character transfers for Asia/Pacific could be happening now/soon, and that people who are eligible could be contacted 'now' about transferring. Awesome! Looks like the forum outrage made an impact! Anyone hear anything?
  19. In sponge to some who were asking about Legacy level transfers across servers, from this morning's guild summit, it seems that the highest Legacy level will be kept.
  20. As far as the information to date, this isn't true. It will be a migration of any characters you want to transfer.
  21. hmmm "not long after official launch timing." you say...intresssting. Are you thinking of that in Dog years? or... Actually, that's a really big fail in terms of evidence... there's nothing in the quote that explicitly says that transfers will happen in the next week, only that the emails would be sent then, which is what the question was asking. And I got my (albeit brief) email this morning. So did not lie, lah!
  22. Thanks for that, Stephen. There would have been significantly less nerdrage if this news article had been put out there before the Asia/Pacific launch. It's good to have it now, but most of the people expressing their anger and annoyance would have been molified by this, I think. After all, SWTOR gamers are a cut above, right?
  23. This seems a bit selfish, to me. You get them excited about the game, they buy in, and now you can't be stuffed going through the early levels with them again? Sheesh. Make a new character. Enjoy low pings on the flashpoints. Have some fun. If you don't have time for your friends, you shouldn't have friends.
