  1. It's still the cause of sharding, believe me. It gets so bad on my server that even though my girlfriend and I are on at the same time, she doesn't show up. I think it's a serious problem.
  2. Oh no, I wasn't referring to you, those last two paragraphs were more of an aside (so I wouldn't need to post twice) about people creating more threads QQing about sharding when i've posted proof that it wont be around forever. Your comment wasn't whiny/negative in the slightest. I don't want to discourage people from voicing their experiences / opions. Sorry bout that.
  3. Yesterday, on a high level(?) zone, on Christmas Eve. I would expect it to be a little empty, but just you and one other person makes your statement seem a little hyperbolized. I dunno why more people are creating threads whining about server sharding when this right here proves it's only temporary. Guess some people always need to cry about something :\
  4. You'll bump into 'em and have a nice chat most likely. Or if they're of the opposing faction, you can gut them and teach 'em a lesson. Can't really talk to them effectively until we have chat bubbles, but that's another complaint for another thread
  5. It seems to me that the majority of people (including myself to an extent) aren't too happy about server sharding. I believe that once this feature is removed, it'll put the MM back in MMORPG for ToR.
  6. Mmhmm. I'm sure the 1.5 million subscribers has nothing to do with that.
  7. Bumping so that people might not complain as much. Only time will tell.
  8. It really does, but for the most part, I think BioWare has done a fine job with ToR. A lot of tweaks and patches need to happen, but they will eventually. And in the long haul, after they remove sharding it should help the community for the better. Sure you'll have to wait in line at points to murder X amount of Y, but that's half the fun of an MMORPG (at least for me)
  9. http://torwars.com/2011/09/09/zoeller-on-launch-day-world-instancing-dealing-with-gankers/ Just wanted to put this here since most people don't seem to know it's only a temporary measure. It won't last forever guys. There is no doubt that after BioWare sees the backlash from the community, they'll remove sharding on servers and everybody can be happy. Hope this puts some fears to rest, or at least helps people cope.
  10. Stop crying, man. Server sharding will end soon enough. It was meant as a temporary measure anyways, and it'll be gone after they see all the people complaining. Source for temporary sharding: http://torwars.com/2011/09/09/zoeller-on-launch-day-world-instancing-dealing-with-gankers/
  11. Merry Christmas, BioWare. May you and ToR see many more!
  12. Sharding won't be around forever, it's a temporary thing. As always, my trusty source. http://torwars.com/2011/09/09/zoeller-on-launch-day-world-instancing-dealing-with-gankers/
  13. Eh. Deathwing was kind of a cop-out when it came to a villain. Don't get me wrong, it had the opportunity to revamp Azeroth which was pretty neat, but other than that the lore went straight downhill. I still don't see MoP's hook. I know it'll have Pandaren (only discernible difference between a male and female is a bow on the head), a (most likely broken) monk class, and a pet battle system ripped straight from Pokemon (you can tell they are REALLY trying to bring players in with this one), and no real end-game content from what I can tell. And if you take Blizzard's latest patch for the game into account (where they rehashed boss models everywhere), I'm very skeptical as to how it'll turn out. After you kill the Lich King, there's only so much you can do I guess:confused: But it's probably going to get glowing 10/10 reviews from the critics.
  14. That is really debatable. Servers maintenance was a nightmare, numerous combat glitches, unpolished pvp, no end-game content, hundreds of quest glitches (especially prevalent in the Wetlands). ToR has had a much more solid launch. As much as I loved WoW, people need to stop looking at it through rose-colored glasses.
  15. Warcraft used to have an interesting story in my opinion... but that all went downhill after Cataclysm.
  16. Exactly. Warcraft had a fanbase since 1998. Not only that, but when Blizz was developing WoW, they called in leaders from top 10 guilds in Ultima and Everquest to help them design the game. Right time, right place. But the stars only align so often it seems.
  17. If you really want to gauge user reactions, go somewhere like IGN or GameSpot. http://www.gamespot.com/star-wars-the-old-republic/user-reviews/platform/pc There aren't as many people giving it 10/10 or 0/10, and usually I'll look at their voting record to see if they're worth taking seriously. Someone with an Arthas avatar giving it a 1.0/10, who also gave MW3 a 10/10, is probably not someone worth taking seriously. That being said, just don't trust Metacritic's user reviews. Oftentimes they are composed of either fans giving it a 10/10 to counterbalance the constant barrage of 0/10 from 4-chan or what have you. Gumbys. Never, ever, take that stuff seriously.
  18. Yeah, but MMOs sink or swim depending on critic reviews. One of the bigger reasons WoW was a success right off the back was (among other things) the fact that every major game reviewer gave it either a solid 9.5/10 or 10/10. Nowadays people won't bother with an MMO that's 8.5/10 or less. They try to stick to the hard-to-get 9.0/10 and above.
  19. Yup, but at least we know it'll happen at some point.
  20. All servers are low pop? Maybe nearing Christmas Eve & Day, but even then most I see are heavy or full. Also, tired of not seeing people as often as you like? Just wait till BW removes phasing! http://torwars.com/2011/09/09/zoeller-on-launch-day-world-instancing-dealing-with-gankers/
  21. This honestly piques my interest. Why would you want to cruise around the lifeless Tatooine desert, with nothing on the horizon? I already had the chance to do that in SWG. It wasn't fun.
  22. Sever sharding won't be around forever. But hey, don't take my word for it. http://torwars.com/2011/09/09/zoeller-on-launch-day-world-instancing-dealing-with-gankers/
  23. I think you're forgetting about the whole "Star Wars" aspect of this game. You know, the science-fantasy series? The one where the entire galaxy is populated and barely follows any real-life... anything?
  24. The reason WoW got so much leeway was because the Warcraft franchise already had a MASSIVE following since Tides of Darkness. I'm writing an essay about it, because people don't seem to understand that WoW had almost perfect timing and circumstances with it's release. It was a seamless world that people already knew, Warcraft III was being played by hundreds of thousands of people world wide every day (still is), and there wasn't much competition at the time except for another Star Wars MMO that almost was as popular as WoW. Or could of been if SoE didn't make it into a WoW clone with the NGE. Also, source on server sharding in case anyone missed it: http://torwars.com/2011/09/09/zoeller-on-launch-day-world-instancing-dealing-with-gankers/
