I leveled a Sage to 50 through quests, then I did it with a Commando only with pvp, Assault Spec on the low level bracket is really good, too bad commandos suck at lv50 pvp I was luck I had armormech on him so I could keep my companions gear updated, class quests become really difficult if you dont upgrade your companion gear and now that I finished getting my PT tank through quests to 50, I'm doing it with my Assassin, lv30 so far again, synthweaving from my sage was crucial to keep companion gear updated it isn't that bad, it takes a lot more time to get to 50, even with the 30% legacy boost, but it i much more fun than having to do those 4 stage bonus quests all the time

The Advanced Neural Augmentator provides a steady amount of credits I run the 3 tech missions during the entire, and most of the time I crit once (3 pieces) per round they sell for 10k on The Shadowlands

you don't even have to mod the game just playing on Telos on Kotor 2 makes me want to choke every Ithorian on that planet

What lvl are you? If you are on 10-49 bracket it may mean he stacked expertise on his gear, while you have none

The Event Authorization isn't priority too Even as a subscriber I rarely used an event item With 6 slots you can have all the crew skills across your toons, so the only thing really required is the Artifact Authorization and 2 character slots if you want to play all classes I am going preferred next month so I used credtis to buy unify, titles and head slots, now I just have to buy the artifact authorization, then I'll re-sub when all my toons are lv50
