Are SWTORs graphics *really* that good?
McAvinue replied to Cranberries's topic in General Discussion
Since comparing a released game to a beta game is the new standard: TERA BETA. Edit: Let's not forget RIFT. -
Are SWTORs graphics *really* that good?
McAvinue replied to Cranberries's topic in General Discussion
Sitting here inevitably waiting on the comparisons between TERA (January 25, 2011) screenshots, and TOR. I'll start. -
I like how there is not actual ability to create a Poll, so people are resorted to just stating what they want, and scanning through this mess to see the results. Hope someone is keeping tally of the results. I'll continue to play until my wife decides to stop, but if I had it my way I'd not re-sub until all the bugs from this working beta are worked out.

"This game is new" isnt an accept excuse for the games problems
McAvinue replied to Gidoru's topic in General Discussion
Rift came out this year, and its UI and gaming mechanics were great. Within a short time they also added most of the features people here are complaining about. Do I get credit for comparing two games that came out in the same year, but one is sorely lacking in features and the other is not? -
This shows why all dissenting viewers are flagged. Nice to know what I've been getting flagged for. Your statement alone shows your own fanatical view on opposing complaints. I find it horrid that anyone would get flagged, implying or otherwise, because you don't like what they said about the obviously blind fanbase.

Criticism with Positive Ideas? Madness.

Yes you are right. I jumped the gun there, and I apologize. -

Criticism with Positive Ideas? Madness.
McAvinue replied to Cranberries's topic in General Discussion
Right but you forgot- The strength of this argument depends upon two factors: 1. The authority is a legitimate expert on the subject. 2. A consensus exists among legitimate experts on the matter under discussion. I'm seeing both in these forums about this subject. But I'm guessing you're going to say that those whom claim this are the vocal minority and pass it off as nothing anyway, all the while flaunting your out opinion. -

It's amazing to me, that you have a well thought out constructive post and even post why your thoughts on the issue prove you're not a troll; and yet the defense force passes this off as you tooting your own horn. So if you wrote all of that with out your credentials they would call you a troll/flamer. If you do your a per-madonna/self-centered. I swear to god this community is the worse I've ever seen! -
Yeah I did. I just love getting that automated response. How about some actual acknowledgement that the thing is being worked on? I feel your pain OP. Me and my wife are in the same boat, and the boat is sinking.

Firstly, I've been silently following this thread for awhile now, and I want to thank you for voicing the disconnect I felt from my player. I just could place my finger on the issue until I saw the first version of this thread. I hope that BW gets its act together and fixes these issues shortly, but on account of their recent 1.0.1 patch, I'm not sure I can count on it.

Hey man, didn't you know, adding those baby names was high priority! Shame on you.

I like your linear thinking Bro. How about this, a healer tank, where successfully holding aggro will send out an AoE heal to the group? Just a thought. Trinity is not the be all, end all. Developers just need to think a little bit.

What a sad life you had in SWG then, where you did not participate in a player city, help advance your skills through player interaction, or raided another city for loot. SWG had no end-game, because PLAYERS built the world, not the game. Social interaction was everywhere in SWG, you just had to find it. Ever notice the game lacked quest and wondered why? Shame on you for inuring your view of an otherwise great game.

Bioware forgot to include the first M in MMO...Massive
McAvinue replied to admriker's topic in General Discussion
I like you you forgot that his post is about getting rid of shards. You are making my point for me. I shouldn't have to join that shard to begin with. We should all be on the same plane of existence. -
Bioware forgot to include the first M in MMO...Massive
McAvinue replied to admriker's topic in General Discussion
This game was never marketed as a single player experience with online abilities, it was marketed as a MMORPG. Yes Bioware said you'd be your own hero, and have your own story, but they said it would contain MMO properties. multi-sharding everything is not helping anything, especially PVP servers. I've not read every article, nor watch every developer video, but I was still under the impression that I would see s **** ton of people in the game when I logged on. your defense force is shinning blindly. -

Actually, yes. Isn't that the point of PVP? I thought it was, guess you never played PVP, or you are no good at it. -
Bioware forgot to include the first M in MMO...Massive
McAvinue replied to admriker's topic in General Discussion
I want to play an MMO, where everyone is in a non-shard/phase setting so I can PVP freely. Currently I cannot, so why does bioware even have PVP servers? -
This was a shady move on blizzards part. The agreement also means you cannot break it without having to still pay back on the existing year contract. On the flip side TOR forced people to sub so their numbers increased, before allowing current players to continue playing the rest of their "Free" 30-days period.

I agree, the complains are from people who wanted something different and not only got more of the same, but all the bugs that should have been fixed by now. They are not flocking here, they are threatening to leave.

Security Key... Going to be a BIG hassle!
McAvinue replied to BrolPraetor's topic in General Discussion
It's not that bad. I have one from when I played WoW and it still works. If it anything like that it will double as a key-chain, so no losing it. It's not as bad as it sounds. -

McAvinue replied to ConradBrink's topic in General Discussion
Hunting down other player in a PVP MMO doesn't sound competitive to you? Guess you never played SWG then. -
But isn't that precisely the problem. WHY have server sharding at all? It's killing the PVP experience. I mean look at all the new threads that keep popping up about this issue alone.
-
This is not a valid argument. I mean how long does it take to get to level 20? I can do it in a day and still complete EVERY quest. This retort you gave is the number one that is always given. If this is the case then starter planets and home worlds should be packed, but guess what... they are not!

Bug ... After Bug ... After Bug. It's annoying.
McAvinue replied to Cranberries's topic in General Discussion
What is this inability of people to grasp comparisons? I think your just trying to find a reason to retort back. Technology advances forward not backward, and BW/EA had plenty of time to incorporate all those technological advantages into the game, instead of creating one that acts like it is stuck in 2004.
