  1. I remember when i played this game in 1.0 that it was a very hard hitting dot so unless they changed it in 2.0 it seems like a big bug :/
  2. Currently my crushing darkness says it should hit for a max of 832 but only manages to hit for 300ish: is this a tooltip bug or a nerf? I dont remember it doing less damage than my lightning strike.....

  4. So, I'm still keeping the Campaign power relic for on-demand burst but I'm not sure what to use for the second one. At the moment I'm using the campaign elemental damage proc relic, but I'm wondering if the War Hero relic, or even the Battlemaster one, will be better than the proc relic? Many thanks for any and all replies!
  5. Title says it all really. With threat not being an issue anymore I was wondering if more damage is done using Vicious Slash than Crushing Blow? Especially since it uses 1 less rage and lowers the cd on Enrage by 3 seconds each time its used.
  6. 1.3 made holding threat even easier. Make sure u have Soresu form on? Otherwise, the rotation is pretty simple: Sunder - filler -filler - Sunder - filler - filller - repeat ad naseum For the fillers, prioritize Guardian Slash and Hilt Strike, then Blade storm and Force sweep, if maximum threat is what you're going for. Also, use Master Strike off cd. I suspect you are doing something wrong though because I find it easier to hold agro in 1.3....I rarely need to taunt at all now even though my damage has dropped due to guardian slash....
  7. So according to the patch notes sonic barrier now scales with gear: how well does it scale now?
  8. I was led to believe that 1.3 would allow biochems to buy exotech stim recipes using daily commendations; instead, all I see are exotech adrenal recipes and no stim recipes in sight: is this intended or an oversight?
  9. Title says it all: for PVE/raiding, which spec is better? I'm leaning towards the first one but people say upheaval is superior.

My guild has reached Kephess HM 8man and we can now get to the Kephess phase pretty smoothly; however, when Kephess jumps down the tank starts taking extreme damage and our 2 sage healers aren't really able to keep up: sometimes the tank is on full hp and then suddenly it spikes and hes down to only 1/3 hp. Any advice, or are 2 sages unable to heal this encounter? Secondly, when Kephess makes the big aoe at 60ish% and pulls us all in we take massive damage and die before we can run out: generally only the consulars with force speed are able to get out in time without dieing. Are sentinels absolutely needed for the speedbuff or is it doable with defensive cds + medpacks?
  11. So there are 2 different types of dps mods: 53 strength + 41 power, or 68 strength +12 power. Which one should I be taking? I'm leaning towards the latter simply because we get 6% strength plus 5% from the sorc buff but I'm not entirely sure

I have no idea whether or not it is higher dps, but I tend to use dispatch every time it is off cooldown (assuming Force Rush buff is up ofc) even if it means I use it before a Sundering Strike. I have no idea if this is a dps loss or gain though, but the <30% phases tend to go by really quickly and I rarely run out of rage assuming my Master Strike procs somewhat decently. Of course, if I do get low on rage I will use the above rotation as well 1 note: during those execute phases I tend not to use Blade Storm at all since the lost focus is too big to justify the damage output: generally I throw in strike instead and go straight for a dispatch then sunder again

  14. Quick question: specwise do you guys go for 4/31/6, 2/32/7, or something else entirely? Theres only 1 fight I can think of where aoe would be useful, Kephess HM with the adds, but other classes have far superior AOE to us anyway so I doubt it would be too significant?
  15. Dear Garfield, Please have a look at the link this previous poster has provided. To me, it seems that Guardian dps seems just fine. Yes, perhaps the sentinel could have played as watchman, which may have increased his dps, and perhaps he could have played better: perhaps all the other dps could have. However, I don't think pulling 1983.4 dps is low or uncompetitive on Karagga, by any means at all. Yours faithfully, A raiding DPS Vigilance Guardian.
  16. Quick question: Should I prioritize Impale over Force Scream or the other way round? Atm I normally prioritize Scream because I figure since it almost always crits it will outdamage Impale but after doing a test on a dummy I found I did about 40 dps more when I prioritized Impale over Force Scream purely because I had more Ravage procs. I plan to do abit more testing later but I would be very grateful if you guys could tell me what you do / discovered? Basically, should I be doing Shatter ---> Impale or Shatter ---> Force Scream ?

Training dummys are useful but not the be-all and end-all; for example, gunslingers and sentinels will always have skewed numbers on operation dummys because their offhands, to my knowledge, never miss, whereas on an actual boss fight they only have about 70ish% accuracy. Secondly, you would be a lot more believable if you coudl post some of the parses you are getting in these raids. If you could post a parse of a whole run of a raid (EV, KP, EC) with all the other classes, which I understand you are capable of doing, then you would lend more strength to your argument, especially sicne you claim you already have seen these numbers. Honestly though, I think the best striaght dps boss fight in this game that doesn't overly favour ranged or melee would probably be Karagga in KP: pretty much just nonstop dps. If you, or anyone, could get some parses of your raid's dps on that fight it would be quite interesting.
  18. If you could list your data then it would be very helpful. I assume we are talking about PVE so if you can give a breakdown of the dps other melees are doing and what boss fight then that would be great Also, comparing ranged to our dps(melee) is pretty unfair because atm this game is completely imbalanced with regards to melee. If you are truly wanting to min/max, just bring 1 sentinel and the rest ranged....or if you insist 2 sentinels and 2 ranged. There is no other melee that is better than a sentinel, and there is no fight in the game that favours melee (2nd boss in EC is slightly easier with 2 melee but easily doable with ranged). EDIT: After rereading your posts, it seems you want dps of every class to be very close to each other: thats not going to happen I'm afraid. They have not made melee do more damage than ranged, nor have they made fights that require melee, so unless you can provide stupidly high dps as well as high raid utility (aka sentinels) then no raid leader would take any melee dps for progression raids like EC HM. We can hope that the next raid will actually be well designed (aka cares about melee) but the 1.3 class changes on the PTR don't seem to change much about dps at all tbh :/
  19. Whilte true, Kephess will probably hit you once or twice even if you are on the otherside of the room and trying to kite him while your tank gets battleressed and healed up. I, for one, would most definitely pop tank stance for the extra 6% dmg reduction..... In case you didnt know, Kephess hits like a truck on rockets.
  20. I'm afraid I have no numbers to give but I have cleared 3/4 EC HM and rage timers havent really been an issue. Just downed the 3rd boss for hte first time tonight and it was me as a Vigilance Guardian, a Sentinel, a Gunslinger and a dps Sage and we killed the boss without the enrage being a problem. I've also dpsed in EV/KP nightmare mode and enrage timers havent been an issue either. On another note, boss dummy dps isn't all that reliable an indicator. You should get your raid buddies to do the same as you and see how much dps they do compared to you. I'd like to do that but my other dps raiders dont like to compare dps like that except the sage, who I've compared dps with twice and have outdpsed both times rather comfortably, so I personalyl don't think Vigilance dps is bad. Granted, I'm absolutely sure my sentinel raider puts out more than me, but hes a dirty oped sentinel and will one day receive his nerfbat reward (hopefully).
  21. I play a Vigilance Guardian but its the mirror of the Vengeance Jugg so I'll give my 2 cents. 1) You are correct. Most fights you will not be using your basic strike attack at all once you have the 4set bonus because the saber toss generates 1 more rage and does more damage 2) This is abit of a grey area for me too because target dummys dont allow me to test my execute phase dps. Generally, I prioritize Vicious Throw (the execute <30% ability) over everything else, even sundering strike. I usually have tons of rage so I will always use Vicious Throw and I will always have the buff up because I will only ever use Shatter and Impale: no more Force Screams. Basically my rotation will be something along the lines of: Vicious Throw ----> Sunder ---> Shatter ---> Impale ---> Vicious Throw ---->Sunder ---> XXXXXXXXXXXX Problem with this is that I dont usually use Ravagae at all anymore and instead use Strike and saber toss to build up rage when I get low.....I have no idea if this is a dps loss or not but its the onyl way I can prioritize Vicious Throw which hits like a truck :/

Assuming you are a Vig pvp spec that isn't completely nooby, you will have the talent that gives u immunity to all knockbacks after a leap for a few seconds, enough for a master strike to complete. Secondly, while its true that Plasma Brand and Blade Storm cant miss, only Plasma Brand bypasses armour: Blade Storm does not. Thirdly, dpsing a tank, which can shield and deflect a large amount of our melee attacks as u said, is generally not worthwhile unless hes the only target there: try and keep him occupied while u destroy the healers/other dps. On a different note, I do find that Vig has pretty bad defensive cds and generally doesnt come into its own without a healer keeping u up.... then again I guess thats the same for every melee dps class with the possible exception of sentinels
  23. Title says it all. Levelling a new sorc and not sure what to do. Currently got 2 points in lightning for 100 extra force, and the rest in madness for more willpower/dmg but not sure which one to go up fully?
  24. Hi! I'm rolling a sorc and considering the background I thought going light side would make the most sense but I was jsut wondering if the story makes sense going light side or not? Also, if you could give me answers that don't spoil anything that would be great ty
