  1. Of course TOR is going to be better in a lot of ways than SWG, SWG is ancient. But, i'd sooner have SWG back than a boring linear game like SWTOR, anytime of the month! Everywhere I went, it was devoid of life, everything was static. If you're going to have something that is centrally story driven, then by default it will be linear.. side quests are a bonus... oh! Like Skyrim (Elder scrolls)... Fable.... For an 'MMO' I think BW should have had a look around the market place at what MMOs are like, before developing this. It's as though BW started working on KOTOR3 Single player and some bright spark must have said 'Wouldn't it be good if it had some online content!?' and someone said 'Yeah! gosh darn it! Let's make it 'LIKE' an MMO!! Yeeeeeee HAAAAAAA!!' In fareness, I like the game, but not as an MMO.. Not on your life!
  2. Most MMOs are true MMOs, TOR is NOT a true MMO, it's a Single player game (linear driven) with some online content.
  3. It gets a bit tedious doesn't it.... Boring, same old, same old To the OP, I left TOR last week, after trying to enjoy it, I really tried trust me! Nodoubt i'll be back in about a year or so..... but the game was to Linear Single player for me with static environments, small planet zones and to top that off, all the zones are instanced!! Anyhoe, I started Rift which is well, tons better than this.. I hate myself for saying that, but it's true... Me and my mate lost count on how many times TOR came up in chat, about how BORING it was.. so they all came back to Rift or we got loads of new players from WoW  I found WoW endgame Boring after a good few months grinding etc... I only got to 32 with my main on TOR, I couldn't stand anymore, then if I played and alt it was... Oh no, NOT NAR SHADAAR..
  4. I miss the hardcore days of WoW... I left WoW after they made it idiot proof, and all the elite kiddies moved in.... BW made a big mistake with SWTOR, it's to linear story driven, as much I love the stories. I'm playing Rift and I ACTUALLY feel as though I'm emerssed into an MMO. The environments feel like environments, things aren't static... SWTOR should have been KOTOR3, without the MMO label. Don't get me wrong loved the game for a few weeks, and will keep my eyes on it... but Rift all the way for me at the moment.
  5. LOL! I threw my money at Rift, much better imo! Money well spent
  6. Same here bud TOR Is a good game, if you like single player, linear games with some online contents.. but it soon get boring... and PvP combat lag makes it unplayable in PvP Installed Rift and what a revalation.. totally enjonying it! TOR Sub cancelled until it's allsorted.....
  7. 46 year old Systems Analyst Programmer for a large Corp. Also, an indy App Developer. I spend most of my 'Spare time', gaming... I sadly left SW:TOR due it failing to live upto my expectations. So now I'm playing Rift, and what a joy it is! I'm an avid SW fan and have been since, my aunt took me to see episode IV a a nipper SWG really made me feel I was living the dream (pre-NGE). TOR, well... makes me feel empty inside... Sadly disappointed, in this single player game, with online content. However, I shall endevour to monitor it from afar.. But not a Galaxy Far away
  8. I don't paly kiddy WoW anymore, but I decided to try Rift, and Boy oh boy what did I miss?!! looks awesome (after starting area) and the PvP is fun... So I cancelled this boring, linear (single player with some online stuff) game.. and now happy on Rift But have hopes for the future of this game... So I'll keep an eye on it, but until then.. no Subs to BW from me:confused:
  9. Agreed great game, but it's not a true MMO, in the truest sense.... More a single player game with some online content.. it's to linear story driven to be a true open MMO. But, still having fun
  10. Simple answer to ex-WoW kiddy eliteists... 1) NO DPS METER 2) NO GEAR SCORE GOD! If i ever see message spam 'Making group to xxxx ./w GS and Achiev..' I'll scream!! But I fear BW will bow to the kids in this game, as did Blizz... I suppose, we'll get a kung Fu Ewok soon.... Whooooo! I want 1... plz! giv gold!!
  11. British Light infantry 1915 - 16 (somme vet), 101st Airborne 1944 - 45
  12. PvP is so broken atm buddy, I'd just wait.. don't waste your money, mine is a brand new very high spec gaming rig.. and I can't play PvP due to combat/command lag... but thegame runs smooth as hell in PvE There's loads of issues with PvP like level 11 playing against 40+ I mean I might has well jump in the ring with Ali, Tyson, Bruno, Bruce Lee, Terminator.. with nothing but a sponge as a weapon BAhh! I'd win though!!
  13. So you an a few others, actually are admitting you liked the fact that you could exploit the game?? Are you 'Gold farmers'??? Sounds like a conffesion to me...... Exploiters should be banned!
  14. The big problem for SWTOR from a dynamics, is that it's very linear, and not a true MMO.. Most people I've spoken with, see the game as KOTOR 3 with online play, very much a single player game. With the option to group up if required. Most of the time, I forget I'm playing an MMO at all!! Sorry, I do like the game, but I would have sooner paid £40+ with out a sub to play it as a Single player game As mentioned above in a previous reply, NO other MMO will ever have a community like SWG (pre-NGE)
  15. Those where the days....... BEST MMO ever until NGE!! Love doing my holo quest as an entertainer, then dancer straight after from the next holo..... Best time of my life!! Basicaly because people needed to visit a canteena to watch entertainers to re-coup. Unles you had a ranger camp I've said this many times and will again, NO other MMO will ever give you a true feeling of immersion, like SWG did in the early years. Pity SoE screwed it up
  16. Chat bubbles really do help in my humble oppinion, i personally cannot be bothered reading the chat, as I can't be done with half of the kiddy speak that goes on most of the time. The games linear* (single player KOTOR3) enough. So having chat bubbles might make it more like an MMO, afterall, ALL MMOs have chat bubbles Plus It'll help with RP and when you're focused on your group (being an healer), I don't want to take my eyes off my group to have to read the party chat when a bubble would suffice * Linear: Very tunnel/corridor driven (great game so don't get me all wrong, it's just not what I'd call a true MMO)
  17. Chat bubbles are coming, i know this has been mentioned somewhere.... Remember WoW didn't have chat bubbles at launch either
  18. I hate WoW elitists... we do not need DMG Meters why?! 1) People use them to generally boast about themselves and make themselve look good 2) People will be kicked from groups for not being, elites. Rather than being taken for their team merit and effort.. Like it is in wow..?? I acn understand people wanting to see what DPs they are doing with their rotations etc.. but it should remain a personal thing and not a group wide thing. SWTOR or should I say KOTOR3, should stay away from addons imo.
  19. Completely agree, I'd also add that SWTOR is not a kiddy pew pew game. You need more than two buttons and know how to play tactiaclly. Also, you simply can't pew pew your way through instances/flashpoints.... you need patiance, good team play, and NO addons to help you play. SWTOR is a very good game, it had some minor issues and still needs some more updates, and UI fixes.. but then WoW wasn't perfect when launched, infact it was shocking! Nor any MMO I can recollect. But, I'd play SWTOR over WOW any day... and I played WoW for 6.5 years, until Blizz and 1337 kids ruined it. SWTOR is very story driven, which makes it feel a little linear at times, with that it doesn't feel very MMOish (but that's my opinion, other would disagree). The storyliners are great, but I don't like linear games.... Other than that, bloomin awesome!! Rift, is a great MMO and has had some major updates. Been playng this over the past few days and loving it!! More WoW'ish but lush and vast, a true MMO imo.. so hard fitting two games into my schedule, but hey If you want an easy game play WoW, if you want to ramp it up a notch play SWTOR or Rift.. or ait for GW2 However, it would hurt to have a got SWTOR, you'll probably like it
  20. Phew! Can you image what would happen if they did this during the daylight hours in the states!!? I doesn't bare thinking about..
  21. Personally, once PvP is fixed, or more to the point worth playing.. I think ALL valor points should be set to Zero and all PvP gear removed from players. Everyone should start from scratch!! PvP is crap atm, but can see it being great later. We need level based PvP 10-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50
  22. No, not at all... All those I meantioned where not Linear MMOs, SWTOR is very linear.. In those others I mentioned you had the freedom to start where you wanted to, roam where you wanted... I just feel SWTOR channels you around, if you try to veer off, there's always a rock face or a wall.... or if you're on Corscant or Narr shaddar (you're tunnelled) For instance, I could walk out of Stormwind (yes on WoW) and walk all the way down the map over some fields, fighting mobs, swim the river and end up on the other side in Darkshire and so on.... in TOR I feel channelled... perhaps it's just me I dunno I'm not flaming the game I love it, but it's just not what I would label as a true MMO
  23. Narr, you'll be playing GW2 by then bud.. or enjoying time with your girlfriend instead of play on the comp
