  1. I like your option B. The opt in for which servers to connect to. It's a really good idea.
  2. I have a couple thoughts on this. 1. Just because it CAN be done (technically speaking) on some other game, doesn't mean that THIS game uses the same code / connections---cloud servers or not. 2. Even if they have the correct tech/base code compatibility doesn't mean they're WILLING to devote resources (programmers / $$$$) to it, especially right away. 3. Even IF they "agree" that 1 and 2 are feasible and appropriate, they'll likely wait to see if there's a NEED for it. a) International cross server queues may SOUND like a good idea, but there are hurdles to overcome and honestly really only helps PUGs and hurts (potentially) GUILD based runs (a guild member drops for whatever reason and all the people who can PUG are already doing so and unavailable for a last minute availabe spot in a guild run). b) The language barrier - already discussed in other posts c) The Time Zone difference - Shae Vizla is about 16-18 hours ahead of East Coast time, depending on how Daylight Savings time works between US and Australia/Sydney. So...8 PM in NYC = Noon the next day in Sydney (roughly). Works for Friday/Sat nights in the east coast, but Sun - Thu that's the work week, lunch time. There might not be enough NUMBERS of players to make it worth the investment.
  3. It's VERY annoying. I saw that and immediately thought of the scene in the movie Ready Player One where the CEO is showing the board that they could fill 70% of the players field of view with ads (ok...70% might not be the actual number from the movie, but you get my meaning) Get rid of the "ads" by paying $ (credits). So...credit sink in my mind. But, I'll fall for it on the servers where I have more credits than I'll ever spend. There NEEDS to be an on/off switch for those options....unless it's INTENDED to be a credit sink, in which case that'd be why there is no on/off switch.
  4. Art created at Star Wars Celebration, live during a SWTOR panel. This was in 2010 I was digging through an old hard drive and figured that if it wasn't already here somewhere, it needed to be. They should make it an in game deco item. It'd look really cool.
  5. I've been on SV since it launched. For the first couple weeks everything was great, population seemed great, FP queues popped almost instantly. I know I'm re-hashing what people have already said... 7.4 dropped and people went back to their "main" server to play out the story. I started it, but haven't finished it yet, choosing to stay on SV to complete, as much as possible, GS5. I've got legacy level 50 on both of my subcribed accounts as of yesterday. I certainly wasn't the first to hit that mark, but I did all the same. This past week, however, the drop in population has been very evident. I don't know where they went, but I haven't seen them online. Maybe there's a bunch of people just finishing up class stories and not queueing for FPs or PVP....I don't know. Your #1 is absolutely correct. The newness "shine" of SV has worn off and in a week when GS5 ends, I think the population will drop off again (until GS6 starts...hopefully soon). I just don't know where this "injection of players" is going to come from. As for point number 2, your numbers look correct. I haven't had to spend QUITE as much as I'm crafting everything myself. Even been saving credits as people are selling iokath recombinators on the GTN for far cheaper than the vendor on Odessen sells them. I wound up buying 7 from the GTN for the price I was expecting to pay from the vendor. Deals are out there, you just have to look.
  6. Wasn't looking to pick a fight, so to speak, only to point out that it CAN be done. People choose for themselves how to play, what to focus on ,how much time to spend in game. and I sincerely doubt I'm the only person to have accomplished it
  7. It's a matter of what you focus on. I started here focusing on two things. Getting as many 80's as fast as possible as I could, and getting crafters leveled up. Not character stories, not rep, not anything else. (well, maybe strong holds...and getting in a large guild that first week). I had lots of CC that I hadn't spent from doing Galactic seasons on all the other servers, enough for 1 boost to 80 and 1 boost to 70 and some of the companion tokens when they went on sale over the holiday break. It was worth it, espeically this last week with selling artifact spaceship upgrades via the GTN. Do I have 8 companions max'd out at 50? No. I do have at least 1 on several of my crafters. My biochem has 4, I think. None of that cost RL money outside of the subscription cost. Free CC from GS.
  8. When I first started playing this game, many years ago when it first launched, and made my first attempts at listing items on the GTN, the very first thing I did was check to see how much I would get for the item selling it to a vendor. I never, ever priced below that level because it made no sense. Why list something on the GTN for 5000 credits when the vendor will give me 25k for it? I know it isn't the first thought many people have, to check that vendor price out, but it may help get you some more credits...either by taking the 25k from the vendor, or seeing that the item is worth at least that amount and putting it up on the GTN for the appropriate price. Don't get me wrong, I'll gladly keep looking, and buy the sale, to sell to the Vendor, and make a quick profit. But if you have something you just want to donate to people for a low credit amount, you can first try that through your guild (if they have a tab for it).
  9. It takes time to build things up from scratch. That's "some" of the point (for a "fresh start server" anyway). We're past 6 weeks since the start of this server, if you started on day one there's no reason at all you shouldn't have been able to CHOOSE to focus on crafting and getting at least 1 companion to 50, either by buying a token from the conquest vendor, or via gifts. People are selling the legendary gifts for under 50k on the GTN, and they're 250k on the vendor. That's a great sale.
  10. it's supposed to auto populate your account name/login ID when you open up the launcher. It is NOT supposed to save/remember/enter in your password.
  11. Yes, well, that's why I put "still" in what I posted. What I've seen before, and many of us have, is that they make a post saying they're working on it and then go silent until they post what they're going to do. I'm hoping for MORE than that this time.
  12. I can't say that I'm an expert on all of the various armor skins, but I have to say, none come to mind. There are a few, ONLY a few, where the right/left gloves are visually different (same with boots) but not anything that looks like you've got a Michael Jackson right handed glove thing going on. (or was it left handed? I don't remember. It doesn't really matter)
  13. I'm anxiously waiting to see what shakes out from all this. I'd HOPE that they make some posts saying that they're still paying attention to what people are saying and working out a solution.
  14. This was actually a concern of mine when I joined a group doing EV in week two of the server. We did SM and HM back to back. I had earned enough credits to put 100k on that toon "just in case" HM didn't go very well. And it was only EV. Luckily, it went well. Haven't done a raid since. The East Coast US vs "Aussie" hours are just too different. A little more than a month in...this is what, the "start" of week 6, and I'm still scrambling for credits as I'm saving up for my imp side "private" guild. (The Pub side is all set with Guild Ship and everything. Just have to start unlocking rooms). Once GS5 closes, and then when GS6 starts up (assuming there will be one) I'll be switching back to Star Forge being my main server again, and this one being yet another one I mainly mine for cartel coins from GS. I have managed to earn some of the "conqueor of..." titles, so I'm happy about that. It isn't DIFFICULT to get vast amounts of credits, even on SV, it just takes two things. Lots of time, more than most likely can spend during the day, and more than a few high level toons / 80's to get those 25k - 30k payouts per heroic.
  15. All I want is an option to turn off the particle effects. I don't mind the interaction part, but I hate VISUALLY seeing the white specs around my toon.
  16. I have an after thought to this too. Don't erase the original toons after the server is cloned. if you do take this hypothetical solution seriously, everyone who did the work on SV would have toons on two servers. SV and the "new one" The "new one" would be the "fresh start" server, but the toons and economy going forward on SV would allow not only a "normal" place to play, but also the ability to see, in real time, if there would in fact be dramatic / negative consequences to the economy in a relatively "safe" space for the players who started out there. You have the ability to see branches for both options at the same time. The ultimate "choose your own adventure" situation.
  17. Honestly, I wouldn't either. I do understand the reasoning behind it. Transferring a ton of stuff you can sell puts you at a large advantage over people starting from scratch and not transferring anything over. Plus, in theory, you MIGHT have people from 5 servers all transferring their stuff to SV, making it a true and utter cluster. But honestly, that wasn't the (original) point of the server. But it's what we have now. Two groups of people with vastly different goals and the people in charge stuck in the middle trying to come up with an acceptable compromise. I have it. it isn't going to be popular. Clone the server. Pick a date, set it in stone, clone the server and move it to another brand new server that will be specifically for anyone, across all regions, to use as a "fresh start" server. AFTER that date, allow transfers and treat SV like every other server. Credits galore, all items, whatever the APAC players want. Yes, it will mean paying for another server, so it would take time to set that up and get everything signed as far as contracts. BUT, you'd get all of the current people who have put in 30 days, or more, time into new toons (not to mention paying for character boosts and other CM items) to keep their stuff, AND you'd get a "normal" server for the APAC players that you originally intended. The new server would have optional legacy unlock only transfers (set that up to include stronghold room unlocks for conquest bonus purposes), no credits / items, and could be used as the use case test bed for long term changes. Just my $.02 after a few weeks of posts have given me time to mull over my original thought/post about this subject.
  18. SV isn't my "home" server by any stretch of the imagination, however it is where I'm currently having the most fun. The population HAS dropped since 7.4 launched, the people "online" at any given time, in either of the guilds I'm in, has dropped SLIGHTLY (10% or so) for exactly what some people have said, to go back to their "home" servers and do the new content. Totally understandable. I played through the first part of it myself on Star Forge (on the ONLY toon I bothered to take that far). While I understand the concern from people living in the APAC region, getting "their own" low ping server after so long without, they're rightfully excited, and anxious, and worried that BS won't support it if they see the population at, what I'd call, typical levels for non NA servers. Let's face it, the Euro servers don't seem to be populated as much as the NA servers, and if SV doesn't maintain at least that level of population, the concern is they'll shut it down. I don't see that being, at least in the short term, a concern. I don't know what time frame server contracts run for, but I'd imagine it's a least a year. Long term population will rely on both new users in the APAC region, and former players coming back, which my guess would be a small percentage. But I don't think you can ignore the number of people who like the "fresh start" aspect of that server. I play from the U.S. and my ping is 250-300 most times. I don't pvp, nor do end game content on a regular basis, so it doesn't affect me all that much. If they prematurely allow transfers with credits, many of these people will simply go back to their main servers. Transfers w/o credits are far less of a concern. As for the GTN as it is right now, I've had slightly few sales to go along with the slightly fewer players. Still only selling basically 1 item, the Tier 6 spaceship parts. Anything else I've tried to sell just sits. And yeah, I heard about credit sellers on SV too. That's not a great sign.
  19. I'll use CC from Galactic Seasons rewards, and the Monthly stipend from being a subscriber with a security key on the new server....actually already have...but I won't spend RL $ and go BUY more CC, not even for this. CC attached to a subscription special, like they ran a couple months ago...that I'll do...and did.
  20. I was really confused about this topic, and my first thought was the same as a few others... "WHY would you possibly want to buy the same item you listed for sale previously?" Well, flipping the item(s) is certainly valid. If you have a stack of *ITEM X* for 50k and someone undercuts you, you can buy the cheaper ones and put them back up for 50k each. However, and I don't know with the new system, HOW MANY are you going to buy to flip? So, you could, in theory, wind up buying items you listed for sale. In which case, not only are you out the listing fee (going to happen anyway), but also the tax on the item as the buyer. And then whatever reason the OP is trying to articulate in the post above mine. And, sorry @spikanor, I know english isn't your main language, but I do have issues understanding the points you often try to make.
  21. Let me just offer a different perspective: For me, it's a HUGE time saver on multiple levels. For the Master's Datacron boost I don't have to go through the story on my first 80, which I wanted quickly. I can just jump to Ossus via the starship terminal and start working toward the current "end" of the story. I can use that 80 to do dailies and start building up credits for legacy unlocks and other stuff. For the boost that takes you to 70, and gets you an additional character slot on all servers, I can use that to jump start crafting for either synweaving/armormech as each of those start out at 600. Yes, I need to farm the credits to unlock the 700 level for those (care of the initial level 80, and now the 2nd boosted character of level 70). It may not be worth it to you, or anyone else, looking at a "cost" perspective, but for me, and the amount of time it saves me, it's completely worth it....using the "free" cartel coins that I've been accumulating from GS over the last many months. Would I SPEND real life $ for CC to use like this. No, probably not. But...using the CC that's just been sitting there, that I didn't have to pay for, yes, absolutely.
  22. search for "boost" in the cartel market window. there are only a few results, it's one of them.
  23. This is exactly why I turn "say" off, as well as many of the other "RP related" chat options. I don't mind that people RP. It isn't something I understand or get enjoyment out of, but if they do, great. But all those emotes and /say and /yell can gum up the chat flow and that is what irks me. As for pulling large mounts and parking on the people doing RP, I can see how that would be annoying. I get annoyed when people are on large mounts close to a Vendor that I'm trying to access. USUALLY a quick /whisper to the person makes them realize they're blocking the vendor for everyone else and they dismount. Usually. Maybe try that first, before trying to convince the other players to give up their fast mode of transportation on fleet just so a few people don't affect your gameplay. Fixing your gameplay shouldn't mean changing mine. I've said that many times, here, over the years. I still hold true to it.
