  1. Please show me the link where they said "it won't be on rails." Whatever snake-oil the previous employees of BioWare Austin were selling, i.e. 1.4 in August, won't necessarily be seen as a priority by the new management. Second, you are wholly incorrect on custom gear. More to the fact that it was all changed in the last two iterations of beta, were previously it was just as he described. The very fact that you can color match destroys your argument. All the different colors are applied to a specific model of gear are in the files. It's simply a matter of pointing to it. You want black robes instead of brown robes, it the difference between file JEDI_robe_male_01 and JEDI_robe_male_02. The fact that they haven't addressed this in six months is one of the major things turning me off to the game. Instead I'm forced into their ugly end game gear.
  2. I just watched horrendously short discussion of The Old Republic at Gamescom where Matthew Bromberg says we'll start our new content with Terror from Beyond, coming next month.
  3. Ahh, yes, Patch and Test. We have dismissed that claim.
  4. This thread is still going? Ha Ha. Chances of a new planet besides the one announced (not on anyone's list)? Survey says... X X X
  5. Oh, Asros said very soon, that's a specific BioWare time frame that is sooner than soon.
  6. This and this. I want to play a Rodian, but I'd be happy to play a Devaronian, but I have no desire to play a Cathar.
  7. Only if you use really radical species, which I don't believe they would ever do. The Cathar, Devaronian, Togruta, Weequay, and Mon Cal are all player gear wearing (armor that shows) companions, and all those companions speak basic. Quezen Fess, a Trandoshan, also wears player gear, but doesn't speak basic.
  8. Going to lose? I find your use of past tense offensive to my sense of aesthetics. They have lost them already, which is why it's going F2P with a $19.99 box sale. They have to scrape out as much cash as possible by the one year mark before it is fully abandoned to a minimalist "keep the servers open" mentality. People will no doubt plunk down a bunch of cash to buy shinies at first, but that will wear off, as it is unearned and everyone else has it, and then they will leave, eventually the influx rate will fall below the departure rate. It's a cynical business model, but hey, John Riccitiello gleefully announced his gouging plans to investors last July.
  9. I think the first three are the real issue, and the last can be solved by just checking all romance options to off. Just like Mako is not going have romance dialog with a female bounty hunter and Torian isn't going to have any with the male, those flags can be turned off completely for some of the more exotic species. Definately those companions that wear human gear are prime candidates for playable races. Cathar, Togruta, Weequay, Devaronian, Trandoshan, Mon Calamari, all these are companions that fit at least 3 out the four points you mentioned. Cathar and Togruta fit all 4 in my opinion, since they are romanceable as companions, they must past the infamous Princess Leia test.
  10. Yes, if the game were a fascicle parody of Star Wars that would be great. There are plenty of easily doable races that could be added, but certain keep asking for the ridiculous and it prevents any progress on races that actually make sense.
  11. This. That's exactly right. The super casual players don't mind forking over a little cash. Is it good for the company, well that remains to be seen if their cash supply keeps up with there administrative overhead, minus players that just get sick of it. I think most F2P simply allow the servers to stay open with minimal changes.
  12. Legacy seemed to be an afterthought, and it shows. Even though you acquired Legacy levels before any Legacy perks, nobody had any idea what that meant. Now I went to 50 with my first toon and started doing flashpoints and raiding regularly. Had people known anything about the Legacy system, I'm sure they would have at least finished Chapter 1 with one character before making others. So, I agree, it was Bioware who dropped the ball by assuming players would act a certain way, even though they couldn't have emphasized it more without me putting a gun in my mouth that this game was about story. So, those who were primarily concerned with story, got skah-rood. Good job BW.
  13. They'll be available... at the cash shop.. whoa oh oh oh, at the cash shop, yeah!
  14. I'll play. Lack of inner-ship decorating. I'm sorry, I love to customize. That segues into number 2. Everything should have been orange gear, and drops should have been mods, armor, barrel, or enhancements. Not allowing players to look they way they want was a horrible decision. I think end game needed to be more robust, but I was fine with it. World PVP was worthless, and war zones after 50 sucked. Also, lack of any mini-games despite players clamoring for it. Finally the biggest nail in the coffin. Space combat. The introduction of a rail shooter developed by another company showed how little Bioware understood the Star in Star Wars.
  15. Maybe if they gave up Gamescom too, I'd believe them. I don't. They've chosen to highlight the gaming portion over the Star Wars portion. That's their choice, we'll see if it bites them in the buttox. Frankly, I agree with many, many other. Why would you go to Celebration will you will no doubt face a slew of detractors, as opposed to Gamescom where you can blend into the gaming convention a bit easier?
  16. As much as we all loved them, Tie Fighter is to dated for modern gamer sensibilities. I agree completely with you that while I loved JTL, they pooched the PVP bad. I did have the occasional good dog fight, but most of it was just as you described. It was unfortunate because I think the devs put it out and then forgot about it. Nothing new ever came out for JTL after the original launch.
  17. I would say yes. If something comes of it, I'll be shocked. They seem to be in damage control mode at the moment. If they have anything developed, they'll trickle it out after F2P, other than that, I can't see anything really new ever coming to this game again.
  18. Not only did they not respond to what we wanted, often times they would go counter to what players were saying in the Beta forums. I think the only time we forced a change was when they decided to abandon orange gear altogether and make everything fixed stats. The outcry reached 300 pages by the end of the day and they were forced to revert back. However, not only did they not revert it back to what it had been, they gave us some lame excuse about how they test different things, blah... blah.. blah... and that wasn't meant to be permanent, when everyone knew it was. Customizable gear was never the same after that.
  19. I hate that they removed our forum date, I have a sneaky feeling you've been to this rodeo before. Bioware Austin had similar time dilation issues pre-launch.
  20. You weren't typing that with a straight face, were you? If that's the case, why didn't they fix bugs and release content before now. I've been watching this merry-go-round since Nov 3 2008, trust me when I tell you that the developers for this game... shall we say... embellish.
  21. Legacy 44 here, and I learned a long time ago that Legacy is a joke. Super low Legacy unlocks that cost tons of money. This is the problem I have with a number of games, the constant desire to get one more new sub and new box sale is more important than rewarding your long-time veteran players (well, as long as this game has been out, which is not long LOL). They could do both, but they don't, and that's why the mass exodus.
  22. I haven't logged on and checked if Gualt still loses his head when I attach his helmet as the patch notes stated was fixed, twice.
  23. Sing it with me... one, two, three, four, THISSSSSS!
