  1. I have found this event disappointing and tedious. I work during the day. When I log on to play, it is in hope that I will at least have the illusion that I will accomplish something with the time I have spent. I kept reading in chat how some people had gone 30+ Smuggler Boxes without advancing their search for the apparatus. I had four pieces and thought that while frustrating I could probably find the last two pieces in a reasonable amount of time. I was wrong. I did not find another Smuggler box for over 20 minutes. Thirty boxes, at twenty minute intervals, that is 10 HOURS. To hell with that. At least I had the leads... which told me to come back later. I came back later, same result. So what do they mean by later? 5 minutes, an hour, tomorrow, or Sunday (the day after my account expires). Yesterday, I was commited to renewing. Today, not so much. Hopeful, things will change tomorrow and there will be enough content to support the population. Hopefully the vendor will have a weapon for sell that one of the five characters I have will be able to use. Hopefully the vendor will have rank 2 and 3 speeders. Hopefully, my anger at this event will stop overshadowing my enjoyment of the game before it comes time to renew.
  2. Because as a healer I would rather spend my time, after the fight starts, HEALING. I am in no real danger from the initial aggro caused by the CC. Besides, if a mob does not take damage, it will typically target nearest rather than the mezzer that CCed a linked mob. Made even easier with CC. I will repeat myself. After the tank pulls, I want to be HEALING in most cases (though I will DPS Hunter-Creepers.)
  3. Please allow me to add my thanks for stealth scan when facing Trandosian Stealthkillers. While a Van's talented stealth scan is better, it is much better than a dead healer. I suspect that heals may generate more threat for Stealthkillers than most other mobs. I would certianly design them that way. As for unique abilities we bring to raids... I do not think I can say too much about Tech Overide. I cannot think of any raid that would overlook an instant rez. They may not want to see it, but bad things happen and it is best to be prepared. Oh darn I lost one GDC of dps. Also, support cell/gas is the only non-talented mobile heal in the game. Very useful during Soa transitions, and I suspect similar situations will show up.
  4. Concussion charge and stockstrike end ravage just fine. They will also LoS enemy healers. I have also seen concussion charge (with help from transendance, I will admit) used to prevent enemies from gaining LoS into Novare's southern bunker long enough to gain control. Stealth scan is just fine as it is. While stealth scan will not stop stealth dps, it will hobble it. Fifty percent to the time allies in an area of your choosing are largely immune to the openers of some of the most feared dps in the game. As for your Huttball/jugg analogy, use stealth scan to find the stealther, knock it into the pitt and follow it. You have the tools, use them.
  5. My roommate would like to thank you for not cleansing the DoTs he is putting on you. Allowing the damage that ignores your armor to persist is making his job a lot easier. If you are going Gunnery, you can spec so Stockstrike punts (for a total of 2 punts) and Full Auto slows. That should be plenty movement effects. Commandos have a hard and soft mez (more than that in non-op PvE). As for utility, stealth probes are a godsend for a group's healers if you suspect an Operative or Assassin is around (and negates a defensive cooldown possessed by some classes). Then there is is Tech Override. Um...WOW. Insta-rezzing a healer on-site rather than making him run back to the fray makes things easier. Just make sure inform your teammates not to release.
  6. It has been my observation that BW has tried very hard to make players relient on each other to be successful. If tank classes are a powerful as you seem to think, there should be enough guards to go around. If a Jugg or PT does not have somebody else guarded and is not guarding you, either ask for a guard or let him die. You have six other teammates that can use your assistance. If you know the enemy has stealth, ask the BHs on the team to start probing and then position/kite is those areas. Sacrifices needed to be made in some areas if a class is going to shine in others. I wish I could negate 2.5k damage to mutliple teammates rather than slap a 4k HoT, that requires the target takes damage prior to every tick, on a single target. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I dueled against a healing Sage while traited for heals myself. Between the bublbe and salvation, everything I do is a waste of cells and you think Sorcorers and Sages should get more defense on top of that? I do not want to think about how useless my damage would be if burst DPS could not get through your defenses. One on one, burst is the only thing getting through your defenses reliably.
  7. I do not have any interest in PvP. I am currently doing PvP as a chore, so that I can get a larger barrel in order to reach the DPS needed to beat the rage timers that will allow me to have a chacne at a weapon that will improve my DPS. I have done the dailies in order to gear up enough to run the HMs that allowed me to do storymode EV, so that I could eventually do KP. Once a week I have a 1 in 4 chance to get a weapon that does less damage than the weapon I WILL earn in 4-6 HOURS of PVP. I am not going to spend 300+K on gear that I will only use for 6 hours. If expertise were 80+% of the benefit gained from PvP I might agree with requiring requiring players to remove 10 pieces of Columi, to equip recruit gear, to PvP; but since 2-3 weeks of PvP will result in PvPers out gearing me for raids I will have to firmly disagree.
  8. Marauders do more damage but are at higher risk. On the otherhand, HM and NM, raids can always use a spare rezzer. The fortunate thing, about both classes, is that their offhand mods (most improtantly the barrel/hilt) can be transferred to mainhand weapon frames, providing them with easier access to increased DPS.
  9. The source of my information is not inclined make statements, about game mechanics, unless he has seen them first hand. I am unfortunately nowhere close to being able to prove it myself, thus providing screen shots, but next time I have access to computer while he he is playing I will get my own visual confirmation.
  10. I do not remember any mention that Legacy would affect faction imbalance. It is unfortunate that the people that might dispute your claims about the Legacy system failing to encourage people to play more alts are probably playing. I know that I do not post on these boards while I am playing. Bioware has shown a reasonable amount of knowledge concerning how many credits they expect characters to have as they level up. Between class and crew skills, character weath gain levelling up is very low. Once a character starts running dailies that changes. Everyday activities are going to get players the credits pay for perks, in game, that most MMOs would be selling through real world microtransactions. The fact that Bioware has managed to show restraint in not requiring cold hard cash for these perk is out of character for them. Yes it has been worth while. I like running ship mission, so having a mailbox on board has made sending materials off to my crafters has been a convience. I have notice an improve perfomance from my alts because to the additional class buffs. I have also notice an improvement from the pets of those alts due to the 100+ point presence increase. Having Legacy gear override bound mods so those mods can be recycled for use by alts has also proven useful.
  11. Soa and Bonesmasher were both happy to inform me that they felt my Tionese autocannon was sufficiently dangerous to them that they should take action, despite the presence of a better armed sentinal and gunslinger. I am inclined to believe them.
  12. Odd, people I did EV with seem to like the idea of me running around with Tech Override/Emergancy Medical Probe on hand, especially when somebody was still floating or mind trapped while Soa was changing phases.
  13. The worst part about being FotM is not the nerfs that people are inviting to be sent their way, but rather rpovoking the need for ones opponents to L2P. Guess what. Just before 1.2 hit marauders L2Ped. A well constructed marauder will eat commandos alive. We are going to have to deal with that fact. It is unfortunate that marauder L2Ped at the same time they were buffed and healing in general was nerfed. I presented an illusion that one class broke while the other became OPed. Fortunaltely, I can tell the difference. It does not change the fact that commandos need to find a solution to the marauder problem. My solution is to drag marauder into the LoS of a gunslinger and watch the marauder melt. I have a question for you that is only vaguely related to the topic. My question will require some preliminary explaination, so please bear with me. I know that when you place an armor mod with a set bonus into a frame with a set bonus (from a different set) the resulting armor will provide both bonuses. Unfortuately, I do not know any other combat medics with the ability to combine the combat medic PVP and PVE sets. I was wondering if you knew anybody that had tried or if you had considered trying. It would be interesting to learn if combat medics could get Bacta Infusion onto a 15 second cool down. Nevermind, it is probably too expensive to try.
  14. As a trooper you will get to micromanage assets tactically, but you will not have direct control over more than one pet. The trooper story gets a bad rap. A soldier's life is tends to be unexciting unless he/she is actively engaging the enemy. I could rant for hours about the treatment of soldiers in media. Trying to force more excitement out of the trooper storyline would just come out contrived, especially if you have any idea what being a soldier is like. It should be noted that the trooper storyline is the only one that I have seen multiple "I hate you Bioware" threads because the player was forced into an emotional decision. As simple as the trooper story may have been, the companions storylines were not. Jorgan's story has interesting implications when used as a "lens" to look at the trooper story. Dorne's situation is complicated. 4X is brilliant. Vik is the quartermaster every officer wants access to and prays he/she is never responsible for. Yuuns was brief but insightful.
  15. Having had to live with a 23 second life expectancy on the battlefield, with no hope of a respawn and only a slight chance of a body bag; I have very little sympathy for players complaining about characters being marked in a game. Be thankful only the Ops leader can mark you. The only issues I have with raid marking is that it can't be cleared like any other debuff and does not go away with death.
