  1. OP seems genuine to me, he wasn't flaming. This game is not SW:G and is not a major sand box mmo, its much more like Everquest and Lotro and WoW than SW:G. Its simply not what he expected and not what he wants out of an MMO and theres nothing wrong with that, I don't see why people need to flame someone for that. I personally love the game, I played SW:G and hated it despite loving the star wars genre. And yea, I actually DO care if millions of people leave. However, as long as it doesn't effect my ability to play and enjoy the game then I could care less. I also have no fears that this game may not continue to be a success financially and artistically.
  2. Unless your lucky enough to be like me, and you simply love all sides to the genre of MMORPG's. Not just the First M, but the other MO part is important too. And the number one reason SWTOR takes my cake is because its major emphasis on the RPG part at the end there. I love to pvp, run space missions, raid, do operations, play with crew skills, AND experience the story. Amazing huh?
  3. Exactly. However, I doubt Bioware cares about the 50 people who hate the game when their bringing in the money. The game is certainly a financial success. Over-all quality will be determined by how many people keep subbing after a few months. But what else do you intend to measure it by? Should we sit down and have an individual interview with every person who bought a copy? Cause honestly, thats the only 'real' way to determine how good a game is. And honestly, if you have seen the internet before you know a good majority of people are idiots, so how many of the customer interviews would end up being biased pointless dribble? Most of them. So what exactly determines a good game? To developers it would be how many zeros they see when they cash it all in. To the individual player it could be any number of things. So what else is there really to go on other than the amount of copies sold?
  4. I just hit level 50 this morning. I started playing late on the 2nd day of early access (meaning I got 6 days early access) and I have basically been playing this since then. But not non-stop. I have a girlfriend, a job, and my friends host a weekly poker night, plus with the holidays, I was very busy with family. I didn't space bar my way through, I did not use any exploits, I mostly leveled solo with the occasional pvp and flashpoint/heroic. I have always been here for one thing: Story. I did NOT complete every single planet, I finished most of the planet 'arcs' and a good portion of the quests on each planet as long as it coincided with my class story. Also, I run space missions at least once a day if possible. On a busy day where I have limited time, maybe I'd play anywhere from 1-3 hours. On a day where my girlfriend would be at work and I'd have nothing to do for 6 hours by myself at the house, I'd play this most the time. So, as of the 14th of December, I started my Jedi Knight, didn't re-roll, have had only a few issues that required me to stop playing. During the week, realistically I probably average a total of 4-5 days of 1-3 hour play sessions, and 2 days of 5 hour or more play sessions. So I probably have sunk about anywhere from 15-35 hours of gameplay per week. Over a little more than 3 weeks. Pretty much if I am not doing something social, or work related of some kind and am entirely alone with nothing to do, Swtor is my date. I also have a level 19 Inquisitor (sorcerer) and a level 11 smuggler (gunslinger) If I finished my class quest on a planet but had remaining quests, I'd finish up what I could on my way back to the space station, but I'd abandon any others because I'd rather have some other quests to do when I play through on other characters I have. But, I did NOT spend a lot of time exploring places where I didn't have quests, sitting around waiting for groups or chatting with guild people or in general on the fleet, and I haven't even begun trying to get Datacrons yet. I have maxed all my screw skills (slicing treasure hunting and diplomacy) and most of my companions affection is maxed with the exception of my last companion. Getting to level 50 certainly took a while, I wouldnt be surprised if people who started as early as me are more than half way behind me. But its all about how you play and how often. If you play for 6 hours but spend 3 of those hours doing random stuff in the game that doesn't garner experience (or at least a lot) then you may not level as fast.
  5. I think amongst legacy names like "Skkywalker" and "lolwow" you'll be okay.
  6. What is he gonna find in WoW? Basically no story unless he wants to read walls of texts. Then he'll get to end game, and it'll be the same, pvp, grind dailies, or raids (flashpoints) so yeah, not great advice. More like non-mmorpg's are -----> that way.
  7. Umm, are you referring to just this game, or the entire star wars universe?
  8. Well, if you do missions and quests, obviously that will garner exp. Also, doing your daily warzone from your fleet is good points, as well as the daily space missions offered to you. Daily Flashpoints too. Basically if its daily and gives you a quest, you'll receive exp not only for actually doing it, but also the extra on top for turning in the quest for it. Other than that? Just questing really unless you want to grind exp from pvp or flashpoints/space combat.
  9. In response to your quote about the in game support not being fake< B.S I openned my first ticket 3 days after early game access started (still BEFORE launching of the game) At level 11. I have since openned 3 other tickets with unrelated issues (all 4 seperate issues that required tickets) every single one has been closed and "moved on to the team" yet the team hasn't said ****. No response, nothing, just the crappy auto-mated bot that doesn't tell me jack. I am now level 48 with two other alts on there way to being 50 as well. So... wheres that supposed customer support again? Because I haven't seen any evidence of it.
  10. Ive had 4 tickets since I started early game access, not one has been addressed. Bioware is a a worthless company when it comes to customer service. Its like there not even paying attention. There too busy counting their cash and laughing their way to the bank because they got into the book of world records. There are hundreds if not thousands of complaints simply about how bad customer service is, this is not including the problems that they came to customer service with in the first place. I love how these forums were lit up with moderators, Steven Reid and others were all over, answering questions, giving out new info, even sometimes interacting in fun ways with the forum goers. Now they are silent, as if they simply ceased to exist. Whats that? Customer service? Go **** yourself customers we already got your money -Sincerely Bioware. Honestly, this has to be a joke...
  11. I have a 48 Jedi Knight a 22 gunslinger and a 17 sith sorcerer. So far I love them all, working on a marauder atm.
  12. Jedi Guardian Bumping for justice. Cmon Bioware, get off your ***.
  13. Yeah, make some sort of 'non-combat' zone in the beginning area, I've had this problem too.
  14. Buy better armor, upgrades, vanity items (speeders, slave outfit, stuff for your ship etc.) but otherwise thats pretty much it. I mean, what else is there to spend your money on in the end game of other MMOS though?
  15. You will eventually get a taunt ability that forces the enemy to attack you for a short amount of time, you will also get challenging call, basically the same thing, but multiple targets instead of single target. The rest of your aggro is going to come from damage and aoe along with force leap. You should always force leap in, drop any aoe's you have to hit as many enemies as possible, if one breaks away, taunt him in, if many break away, use challenging call. At this point its your job to keep attacking, you want to do a significant amount of damage to keep the enemy on you, same goes for other enemies around you, which is why AOE is important. A constant string of fighting should keep your aggro up, if you drop it, quickly leap or blade storm the enemy that is running to attack your team-mate, or hit them with some sort of stun, usually your taunt and challenging call should have cooled down by the time enemies start losing interest in you.
  16. Star Wars: The Old Republic is the best mmo ever! Okay, now on a more serious note: I think this review is very fair. Im a huge fan-boy, so conceding to this lower rating I think says volumes about how accurate this is. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/367/view/reviews/load/178/Star-Wars-The-Old-Republic-The-Official-SWTOR-Review.html The game is great, a joy to play, over-all has several key things missing, bugs and the like and needs some work but for the majority of players I think this is where everybody is at. This game is no Star Wars trilogy, but it certainly doesn't disappoint. Now I've said my piece, I'm going to go back and enjoy the game. Cheers!
  17. Seeing you in every thread I go to is like clockwork I swear. Despite being on the other end of this arguement, the post caught me off guard, totally thought I was coming into a reasonable thread.
  18. Umm yeah, again: There are 3 people (one on tython, one on tattooine, and one on a space station) who, if you let live, will show up later, if not, they do not, and you cannot use them and are at a disadvantage. In rift, do you make conversation choices? In rift, do you have a choice to let someone live or die, and if so, does it affect your game-play experience later? No. For example: On Corellia, there is a mission where you must attack the enemy headquarters, you are given to options prior, have your forces thin out the enemy so when you enter it is easier (dark side) or have your forces save civilians in another area, making your quest through the enemy base more difficult. Do you have options like this in rift? Is rift fully voiced and engaging with interactive cutscenes every time you go to a quest giver? No. Your point is invalid on both fronts, quit trolling. I can tell you in detail, what I've done so far in SWTOR in terms of story, side quests included. I could not say the same for rift or WoW.
  19. So.... your complaint is that its not your own personalized story? By comparison to... what? Name anything, I mean ANYTHING in the whole wide world that is your own personalized story other than your life? So, you wont play SWTOR because its not a personalized story, so your going to do... what else then? In other words, you don't like stories, period. Because none of them are your own personal story. So why do you play RPG's? Role-playing-games? You play a role, in a story. If you hate stories, why are you even here? So tell me Einstein, if your major issue with the game is that its not personalized, then care to tell me what is? And don't try to ******** me about choices not mattering. I am a level 50 Jedi Knight, and I can tell you right now, 3 people specifically off the top of my head, who can allow to live or die, affect the outcome of your story later on. Also, many quests change in difficulty and amount of or type of enemies based on your decisions. Don't try to lie to someone who has experienced it for themselves. Which is why I called you a moron, you seemingly don't use your own brain when talking.
  20. I think it would be more accurate to say that satisfied customers are more often quieter and less vocal, angry upset or unhappy customers tend to be louder, and more noticed. I work in customer service. Most people who come through I 'assume' are happy, because they keep coming back, and most the time, they don't say much in positive, but are just happy to receive their meal. But the second someone is unhappy about what they got, they turn into a 3 year old who just got their favorite toy taken away from them. People tend to cling to the negative, often times people remember the 'bad' times instead of the good. Its human nature.
  21. So just like movies... and books, and every other story that you yourself didn't sit down and write? How moronic. Of course your not playing "YOUR" story, the only "YOUR" story anyone ever plays is the one they play in real life. The dude sitting in the chair. You think when you pick up any movie book or video game that your the ONLY one experiencing it? You realize EVERY SINGLE STORY EVER MADE IS NOT YOUR STORY? Jeez, derp alert. Class story makes up for quite a huge part of my personal leveling experience, I don't know what game your playing. What did you expect, a video game that allows you to make your own individualized personal story down to the letter that absolutely nobody else will ever get to play? That doesn't even make sense. Here, have a dunce cap.
  22. More like he wakes up every morning, puts on his t-shirt that says (If you want to learn to troll, see other side of T-shirt) on both sides of his shirt, then he puts on his on size fits all footy pajamas (mind you they barely fit his neckbeard) and then he makes 10 tabs of his favorite things to troll these days, most likely WoW and Swtor are tops for the moment, probably skyrim and uncharted 3 while your at it. Then trolls all day, but after a few annoyed epeens and 9 cans of mountain dew later, the only real progress he's made is in his belt size.
  23. Funny because I went slicing, treasure hunting, and diplomacy. All my companions are maxed on affection, Im pure lightside, have over 1 million credits and still continue to make bank from the items I sell from slicing and treasure hunting along with companion gifts from diplomacy (and lets not even talk about the lockboxes you can get from treasure and slicing).
  24. You've been here all morning trolling the forums, your the same person who had the other account with the same stupid signature. I mean, honestly you really have nothing better to do now that you've "cancelled" your game then spend your every waking hour trolling here? Get a girlfriend, a job, learn an instrument, go to school. Nobody really cares about your opinion, your the spit on the bottom of the shoes of society and its why the silent majority tends to ignore you. I mostly find it hilarious that you've so far spent most of your day here...
