  1. The only problem with having the ability to select wzs, is the queue waiting time. Extreme illustrative example: you have 8 imps and 8 reps queued on a server. With the current system, they are going to be selected and placed in a wz. If people have the option to select wz, and say 2 rebs select hutball and 2 select civil war (same goes for imps), then they will wait indefinitely, since they will not be able to get the required amount of ppl to start the wz. Bottom line is, we will see such a feature, but only after cross server wzs get implemented.
  2. This game has so much potential in terms of open world pvp. The devs designed areas so that the more you level (and learn your class) the more you go into common areas where you can run across the other faction. So In december, when population on my server was very healthy, it was so much fun keeping an eye for imps, poping up everywhere. I remember trying to do the datacrons on tatooine... At the starting day of the latest event, we got another glimpse of how open world pvp can be... server came alive, with raids cleaning up bases on tatooine! It was super!
  3. People have different schedules and game events are not permanent, that's why they are called... events. Having that in mind, Bioware can't please everyone. If I am away for vacations, I cant expect them to keep the event longer just because it didn't fit my schedule.
  4. whats your expertise? Did you swap mods prior to 1.2? Generally speaking, people need to understand two things: a) there is a new gear progression path, recruit -> BM -> war hero. b) pve and pvp gear is finally differentiated, through the expertise DR change. If you don't have allot of expertise (need at least 1k), get some recruit gear temporarily, while you grind for missing BM gear.
  5. Are you guys running on centurion/champion/pre-1.2 moded BM gear? I'm a full BM geared guardian (valor 70) and my survivability hasn't changed while jumping from 1.1.5 to 1.2. The DR's on expertise changed, and I can tell which enemies have no clue about it and run on PvE gear or generally gear with little expertise on it, since they die real fast. On the other hand, stacking at least 1k expertise grands similar survivability as before.
  6. There is something called diminishing returns, which means that defense does not scale linearly. The more you stack, the less benefit (damage avoidance) you get. So it depends on the amount of defense you already have (other stats, buffs, etc). Im pretty sure defense hits a hard ceiling at around 30% damage avoidance.
  7. same here, surprisingly pleased! Thank you Bioware! Good move, I 've never been in another mmo that gave out free game time! If this is a thank you gift, you are welcome! if this is a sorry for the ranked pvp being delayed, you are forgiven!
  8. I understand that, but people should be a little bit intelligent about it. Its not rocket science. If you re-roll on a full server its only going to get worse. Check http://www.torstatus.net , see whats the next best thing and re-roll there. Servers would have gotten a more even population that way. In addition, lots of people re-rolled from medium pop servers with like 60 - 80 fleet pop, just because all the party was going down to the flooded servers. This only made matters worse for both types of servers.
  9. What kind of logic is that? Lets mess up everyone's game time, fill up the servers, and waste our time re-rolling so that we can convince bioware... News flash: There is no convincing, they said it is under development and its coming.
  10. Im not referring to you personally and i understand people started re-rolling to these servers before they were full. But at some point, these servers started to become full at prime time, which is a good indication for someone to just re-roll to the next best thing.
  11. This was expected. Im on a medium pop server, yet people were leaving left and right for the "highly pop" servers, even thought those servers were already "full" at prime time. You cant blame BW for this. It is pure player idiocy. I can understand people re-rolling from empty servers, but why go to a full one? Move to the next most populated server, there are so many posts about which servers are most active. Shortsightedness always comes back to bite you in the *****.
  12. Date has nothing to do with how a developer can capture the theme of an ip in a game. The Jedi Knight series launched in 1995 and felt pretty star warsy to me...
  13. there is a graveyard with a krayt skeleton!
  14. I know but thanx anyways. The download is a bit prohibitive from where i currently connect so I cant download the PTS.
  15. Can someone with access on the test server be kind enough to confirm that BM mods/enhancements maintain same stats with Rakata? Currently (1.1.5), mods/enhancements have the exact same stats. From what I understand, in 1.2 BM mods/enhancements get expertise. Did they reduce the secondary stats, kept them the same, or buffed them as in the rakata set?
  16. Its not that hard to understand that there is no such thing as "early release" and there is no such thing as bug-free software, especially when it comes to complex ones, like an MMO. Try and think of ANY program you even installed on your computer and never got a single patch. Heck, windows xp released 11 years ago, and they still get patched...
  17. I see what you did there! thanks for the clarification.
  18. Hey look everybody! A Blizzard employee! Everyone say hi!

  20. I have an MS in computer science and pursuing a PhD atm, and I can tell you this: a) the game engine is not "broken" since the majority of people are capable of running the game (not saying there aren't any performance issues though). b) Every game/software gets polished/optimized through its life-cycle. This game will too. However, this process takes time since there are so many parameters involved in the performance of complex computer software and a limited set of resources (dev team). c) The time frame, extent, and difficulty of optimizing the game (as well as its issues) is known only to the people who have access to a broad set of performance metrics and the engine code itself (i.e., the developers).
  21. But they actually do start even. When you get that prompt to start the wz, they are even. But if you click leave, then you leave a slot open. Most of the times the game will assign the next queued person to that slot. But if no1 else is queued at that moment...
