  3. My guild runs a pure PT shield spec for ranked arenas and they do quite well with it. While pure sheild spec might not put out amazing damage, it has a very high shield rating. The white damage from guarding can be sheilded making the stat actually worthwhile if your primary focus is guarding.
  4. Well the story sucks because (at least in my opinion) the male consular sounds very monotone and boring. The female consular was much better in my opinion voice wise. (darkside consular options sound very angry and that is the only thing that sold the story to me) The story is either way very lacking. You are just told to do things and you go do them. The darkside choices aren't very beneficial and they aren't punished either. It really just has a feeling that no matter what you do, it doesn't matter. Other than the operative story most of the stories are pretty linear, but the consular one not only linear, it feels linear too unlike some. Most of the companions aren't very interesting or exciting either and the final ending feels like a let down. It is the worst story out of the inquisitor, warrior, agent and BH campaigns I've played. Definitely not unbearable, but very lackluster.
  5. They don't want to show the math because it would become easier to learn how to bolster bug gear. Bolster bugging is very easy to do already and showing the math would only make the obvious problem more obvious. HOWEVER I am really glad this new guy took the time to post here. Thanks mr.new-guy, it may not seem like much but just showing you care enough to post what we were promised months ago is heart warming on these cold winter nights.

  7. You can't separate ques for group and solo because there isn't enough of a pvp player base on all severs. If there were cross sever ques, yes it would work. Cross sever ques are probably never going to come, so I vote no.
  8. shroud not functioning perfectly breaks pvp? just a slight exaggeration. Still there are many assassins that don't realize some CC counts as physical damage (like leg shot) and therefor goes through shroud...... That being said I have seen cases of assassins being CCed with tech/force attacks like cybertech grenades and flashbang while shroud is up. Although I do not play an assassin it seems more likely for AOE CC to go through shroud that other types of CC. For example I have been able to cause this to happen with my snipers flashbang, but never my sorc's whirlwind. Regardless this isn't a "gamebreaking" glitch but it really should have been fixed by now.
  9. Snipers have sheild probe, covered escape (which won't be countered by roots and CC) evasion and of course cover. MOSTLY COVER I play all of the ranged dps as I love ranged dps, snipers are squishy but they by far have the most control and have the most effective kiting. You also don't have to waste a ton of your globals on your defensive abilities like sorcs. Your lack of perception in almost on par with bioware itself.
  10. Sorcs are designed to be easy to kill so that other players of other classes can feel good about themselves. /thread

  12. While the idea is cool, I would rather bioware focus on other things. Giving us a no weapon look would probably require new animations which is time bioware doesn't have. For what little time they dedicate to our class I would rather them introduce quality of life changes for our class rather than new ways for sorcerers to look cool. After all we already have the cartel market for that.....

  14. If you play on a sever with no ranked pops, that means you play on a pve sever most likely. Speaking that there are few players who could qualify as "skilled" on pvp severs, I assume that there are few if not even less quality pvp players on a pve server. If you aren't exposed to high level play then you can't really make statements about high level gameplay balance because you haven't seen what classes are capable of in a coordinated environment.
  15. No static barrier does look stupid, and I also agree it doesn't fit well with the game. They just basically copy/pasted the priest setup from WoW and made it the sorcerer. Your idea isn't a bad one either, however for non, lightning spec players force management would become a problem. Also if the 2.6 patch notes indicate anything I don't think they ever plan on doing anything like redesigning the class. Simple changes, if anything, will be all we will get.

  17. You haven't heard of the double healer teams utilizing a sin to "teleport" away from the arena acid. It is certainly possible to win without a true dps on your team. Since you claim that I'm only spilling half truths, I claim you are only half reading. While I agree that burst can be a little too high in this game, I specifically stated that if guard were toned down that average class defenses would have to be and should be improved. Basing class defenses off the idea that you should have a dedicated tank at all times is foolish from both a competitive and casual level.
  18. Why does everything have to black and white? The guard mechanic simply makes players too hard to kill. That does not mean that everyone wants tanks removed from the game. However as long as guard exists class defenses have to based around the idea that any given player may have guard. Some classes like sorc healer can barely even function without guard, which in my opinion, is broken. A common argument to this who tank problem is "it's not hard, just separate the tank from the target". Well that may be true, in theory, but in practice it is not. It is easily forgotten that all of the tanks have good mobility options for getting around and guard range isn't that short. Of the tanks the PT and Assassin both have cooldowns that make the immune to various types of CC. Perhaps if guard itself just transferred damage it wouldn't be so bad, but guard reduces a targets damage taken by 5% and all of the damage that is transferred can be shielded, resulting further eliminated damage in addition to taunts. Personally nothing is more annoying that seeing a tank that has little idea how to play but just stands around his healer and for the mere fact he stands around his healer, his healer basically becomes impossible to kill. -------------- But ignoring all that stuff I posted above. The mere fact that you can't run an arena team without a good tank ruins ranked right there. Of the few tanks that play only the PT/VG is particularity valued, and if you run a team without a tank then you are bound to lose. If guard was toned down so that it wasn't a necessary component individual class defenses could be adjusted and a greater variety of competitive teams could play rather than just (op healer/VG tank/ X/X). Certianly you may see a jugg tank on rare occasion, or perhaps the even rarer sin tank, but it doesn't change the fact that without a tank your team isn't competitive.
