Don't compare TOR to WoW at launch, compare it to Rift.
Thuggy replied to Turista's topic in General Discussion
What's QOL? dont know the acronym >.> That said. Rift was definitely a massive success given the expectations it had in development. New IP from a new company with no name talent...even now as it's converting trial servers *cough*closingdownservers*cough* It's still preforming above initial projections. -

You're probably referring to EA Louse...who was not a credible source to say the least. -
Pretty much this. PTR needs a character copy feature, premade characters and PTR specific gear vendors in order for it to gain real traction. Based on what happened in beta, I suspect they're still working on exactly how to get these features working properly (I guess apparently it's harder than just a copy/pasta of a line in the database).

Huttball is swtor's Arena, once they add rankings and other tools needed to enhance competitive pvp

SWTOR was promising. I liked it untill now.

OP's point IS relevant when you're talking type and quality of content, agreed it's not when you're discussing amount. (although wow does reset it's content treadmill every expansion.) -
Someone condense the anti - LFD tool side argument for me

Rift has 5 specs >.> At the end of the day, people who want to DPS, want to DPS; spec flexibility is useful but does not change overall playstyles. Especially when you consider there are specific itemization paths for each role -

Thuggy replied to SomeDudeIsanub's topic in General Discussion
Rift tried doing a LFD tool intra-server, within weeks they had to open it up cross-server as DPS queues began to take hours. No way to know how it'll balance out in SWTOR without more metrics, however, there are some very distinct advantages to an expanded player pool to draw from. I do agree they need to find some way to improve the loot system in flshpoitns. These types of systems almost always empower griefers, and not the population they're implemented to protect. I would however support a system that leverages the /ignore feature as a way to prevent matchmaking with players you'd prefer not to. -
Mako, Torian, and too much affection for the former.
Thuggy replied to Rhinzual's topic in Combat Styles
I only got BH to the end of chapter 2 in beta, so this may have changed, but when talking w/ Mako (after aquiring torian) she'll kind of "test the waters" to see if your BH is interested in Torian or not. I think at that point you can tell her to back off, or give her the green light to pursue a relationship w/ him. -
Does lightside Jaesa ever come to accept the Empire?
Thuggy replied to AJediKnight's topic in Combat Styles
I disagree with your interpretation of those conversations, at least based on my 50 Light side SW in beta. -
nope, nothing added to compensate for lost exp. You'll still get your standard loot/credits and legacy exp though.

They want the freedom to play the game their way, while still enjoying the content/social elements of the game. I dont agree w/ the logic, and find it to frequently be a selfish position, on some level I can empathise.

Yes, you will hit 50 before finishing. I have a completionist guildie, who hit 50 before even starting Voss. However I honestly, I dont see what the issue is. Your level should be a secondary concern if your gameplay goal is to experience all the content possible and keep your quest log nice and tidy

So any word of a Combat log and Damage meters?
Thuggy replied to anhtice's topic in General Discussion
I know the July/August beta builds had a combat log tab, but even then tracking damage in/out was disabled. -
Not that I agree w/ the OP (I don't entirely get what he's saying), but shouldn't Raiding be the challenging content for people who raid? >.>; Fixed....based on my experience

What's your guys' problem with "hardcore" players anyways?

What's your guys' problem with "hardcore" players anyways?
Thuggy replied to ndruo's topic in General Discussion
It depends on what you define as "Hardcore." a Hardcore pvper has different demands than a hardcore raider, and both will demand elements contrarian to a hardcore roleplayer/sandbox player Catering to hardcore demographics exclusively will often alienate the casual audience, simply because content will demand greater effort, time, or skill than they are willing/able to invest. However, many times there are issues that are universal, -
Discussion/idea thread for Master/Apprentice system
Thuggy replied to shreddster's topic in General Discussion
I've seen similar systems in other mmos, and was always a huge fan of them...even if they did frequently open the game up to minor exp/money exploits. In swtor however, given it's strong focus on story and linear progression quest hubs...I'm a bit confused on exactly how you envision it working? -

I heard that Anti aliasing was to be released today

It's in patch 1.1 currently on the ptr, not the minor patch released today/ -
There Should Be Five Classes on Both Sides
Thuggy replied to SporkKeeper's topic in General Discussion
The issue is the story/voice over. They would have to write a Republic BH and Imperial smuggler storyline, and then ask those 4 voice actors to re-record the entire game. Its possible, but not plausible. It's the same reason a "treason" arc for the other classes are highly unlikely, as cool as it would be to play a Jedi that throws lightning -

Actually IA gets their healing companion early-mid 30s. OT: With the game's focus on story, it makes it kind of hard to evenly distribute healing companions without pigeon holing a companion into a role that does not fit their backstory/skillsets. Thats the reason the ship driod has been given healing abilities to serve as a stopgap for those who feel like they REALLY need a healing companion before they get a real one. Is it an ideal solution? eh, not really...but there are a few things w/ the companion system I would like to see improved, this is probably on the bottom of my list.
