  1. Do you think that people couldn't code in 2004? Or perhaps back then errors were not prioritized or something? Have you ever programmed anything in your life outside of a remote? Sorry, but comparing whether bugs exist or not has no relevance on 8 years ago. Game mechanics changed over the years, design has changed, but the ability to not be perfect has not changed.
  2. I know many people avoid the forums because of how the crowd can get. A poll in-game would probably be a much better sample group. Also, someone else mentioned leaving comments in the poll - that would be great. I really like the new UI, however, I dislike abilities being darkened while the cooldown animation is happening. Overall, it's a much better improvement, but could use a tweak or two.
  3. I definitely see your point, but I think the problem is that many people don't learn. I've also been in many games where the other team is rolling us, then just kept running around for the rest of the time instead of scoring the 6th point. I don't want to have to stay for that. When you go on defense in Voidstar first, and the other team gets the first door almost immediately - why should people have to stick around and suffer? A quick score/objective (not including Alderaan) is not the same as a "*** quick score" IMO. It's the "***" moments where I realize that my group is not working together/going for objectives. Then I see people chase kills around - sorry if I know people aren't playing the Warzone, I'm out. I miss out on the valor, creds, commendations, etc but at least I'm not just free valor for the other team.
  4. How is it a free pass to the fleet? I just tried this out and after leaving the WZ I ended up right where I started, on Tatooine.
  5. I'm on a pvp server, but I can see how that would be annoying. Letting a a flagged enemy wander into a non-flagged player's AoE really just leads to griefing. However, if you heal or buff a flagged player, you should absolutely be flagged yourself. Otherwise you could just heal & buff someone in pvp combat, which isn't fair.
  6. Just thought I'd point out that you guys are talking about ways to implement features via code, which there exists a large number of possibilities, and final decisions are either technically decided, or made by coder's preference. Basically, I have a feeling you guys could go in circles for hours.
  7. Now if we can verify orange armor crits, that would be awesome.
  8. It is a money sink, but if you like the rewards, then go for it. I have two characters, one is Synthweaving and one is Cybertech. I use a ton of crafted items, and recently have been selling some for large profit. I'd say I've spent more than I've earned, but it definitely helps recoop the cost. However, I did have to wait until level 41 to buy my 2nd speeder.
  9. OP: I suppose we'll see in a few years then. Also, you're obviously not a software developer because you can't just change things all the time because a game came out with it recently. The business doesn't work that way. And I actually think it did improve on WoW. Has many of the good things and left much of the crap behind (not 100%, but either way it's an improvement overall). WoW was a launched title for 6 years, during which, it improved DRASTICALLY. End game was an after-thought at launch. So what am I getting to here? TL;DR - This game will improve, and if it didn't meet your expectations, it doesn't matter.
  10. Thanks for writing this guide. Has my vote for a sticky!
  11. I'm not sure REing to get purple gear for yourself is a waste. Especially with additional companions to do your dirty work and assuming you're still getting skill points.
  12. First, it's not an Auction House. Not only is it called the Galaxy Trade Network (GTN) but there aren't any actual auctions (read: no bidding). Second, a disaster? Let's not be over dramatic. I think improvements can be made, absolutely. But I can also find what I want, when I want, it's completely usable. If having to type in the name of the item is "unacceptable" then you have a lifetime of disappointment ahead of you. Now, I agree that linking an item into the search would be a nice feature, along with not having to select drop downs to search for a specific item. I'd love to see better filtering so that I can only view what my class can use. Has there ever been confirmation whether this is cross faction or not? I see items for Republic characters (I'm Empire), but I've never heard that it was cross faction. Overall, it could use some buffs, but a complete disaster - it is not.
  13. Disagree, completely. The only thing it did was let people basically just auto join a group (getting into a dungeon faster). And while that sounds great, it really just meant I spent more time in horrible horrible groups. I went back to grouping with guildies, friends, and friends of friends quickly. It would be nice to see something added, but WoW's implementation is not it.
  14. Count me in for turning this feature off. It's annoying as I also use the bottom center bar as my main bar.
  15. It's not about days though, it's about # of people. That was the huge beta weekend, so likely an insane spike in orders.

    PvP Problems

OP: I see where you are coming from, and I agree and disagree with your points. For instance, I think hardcore gamers should get rewards faster than casual gamers. As others have pointed out, that's life. Athletes dedicate themselves to a specific game, so I shouldn't expect to be just as good as them. Someone made the comparison of people going to a gym for hours, and eating right, and maintaining an entire lifestyle to being in shape vs the guy who runs 3 times a week and eats like crap and drinks half a case of beer twice a week. With that said, I also don't expect to COMPETE with athletes in a game of football, and I don't expect to have to compete against these fitness gurus in everything I do. I do expect to compete with other players in this video game. So I think spending more time and effort doing things in-game should get you rewards quicker, but I do not think that the gap that provides should be large enough to overwhelm casual players. If a hardcore gamer can get something in a day that takes a casual gamer a week - I don't see that as a huge disadvantage. Please note: I'm not saying there must be a week lag, just using it as an example. To expect to play twice a week and be the best is setting yourself up for failure in anything you do in life. However, while talking about a video game, I think it should be normalized a little so the gap isn't so bad. TL;DR - Hardcore rewarded faster but don't create large gaps between them and casual.
  17. Man I'm torn too. I don't know if I want to play Marauder or Assassin. I'm rolling on a PVP server, and I hear that Assassin is better burst, but some are saying only up until higher levels and Marauder tops out. AGH!
  18. Wasn't another thread going around that says your companion won't get the node during combat?

    Huttball sux

I think Huttball is awesome. I'd also agree that choosing your Warzone would be cool too, but that's only because someone may be in the mood to do one or the other. I'd love to see Huttball leagues or something like that as time goes on, or other game-type Warzones. It kind of reminded me of that one match type in UT2k3.
