  1. I would prefer to see them fix existing bugs and broken game mechanics before they spend any time adding new (probably buggy) stuff .
  2. Overwhelmingly stupid comment... probably by someone who knows they exploited a situation and is in fear of receiving disciplinary actions for taking part in something that was obviously not intended, clearly exploitative, and fundamentally wrong. Although I am sure that the Bioware post is all talk and no real actions will be taken, I still have some faint hope those of you who took part in these actions will be disciplined.
  3. Then you have not done much, or been very lucky. Getting stuck in this game is VERY easy; I have gotten stuck several times, and on a few occasions had to use /stuck 2 or 3 times to break free. Everyone I know in game has been stuck several times.
  4. The more interesting question is... if it is so frustrating to you, why do you read them and then take the time to post a reply? I can understand people wanting to vent their frustration over the game. Many waited for a very long time, with great anticipation, for release only to find a broken and poorly implemented game. People paid for this game and now no longer have an interest to play because of the issues... I can certainly understand their frustration and desire to vent a little of that frustration on the forum. You asked the OP why doesn't he "just go"? Well, I ask you you the same question; if these types of threads bother you, just move on and allow the people who want to talk about their frustrations do so!
  5. Same here... haven't logged on in three days and even then I was only on for about an hour before I got bored. - too many bugs and game play issues (far beyond what would be expected/excusable) - every other quest NPC looks like the one before - too much instancing... the world feels empty and the game feels like a single player, not an MMO
  6. I have to say that I am surprised... I almost never agree with these types of posts, but I find that I completely agree with almost all of your points! My main is level 44 and I am getting extremely bored with the questing and getting fed up with the inexcusable issues! Agreed. The dialog choices mean absolutely nothing (other than the occasional LS/DS gain). The three dialog options are nothing more than three paths to the exact same conclusion! Bioware made every indication that there would be long-term ramifications from choices, but there really isn't... it is all just fluff and filler. I am also getting tired of every quest NPC looking exactly like the NPC from my last quest. There is apparently on 5 or 6 character models in the game and each quest NPC just gets a new random hairdo! Agreed. While some bugs and certain issues can be expected and understood with a new game release, the number of bugs is extreme and the game play issues are inexcusable! Some of the issues are mind-boggling that they could exist in a five year 300 million dollar game! It is as if there was zero “in house” play testing and quality control. These are obvious issues that should never have made it to release! I have been using this as an example of the state-of-release of this game... not because it is buggy or unstable, but because it is laughably dumb in design and reeks of zero oversight or testing! There is no way that such an idiotic and pathetic system as the GTN UI should have made it to release! Who signed off on that piece of garbage and declared it suitable for release? I honestly think the GTN UI was sub contracted out and nobody at Bioware even looked at it before release... how can anyone who have ever played an MMO or any company developing an MMO consider it acceptable and give it a pass? Agreed on all points. Ok, I guess there had to be something I would disagree on... I agree that the stock UI sucks and that it does not have built-in customizable options is a poor oversight; I would welcome a main UI mod and a mod to replace the stupid GTN UI, but for the most part I believe most add-ons and mods are a bad idea and should not be allowed.
  7. That's what I thought also, but in game mechanics, cut scene animation, and promotional video suggest otherwise... Apparently there is a physical saber under the beam of energy? - Sith Warriors have an attack where you simply swing your saber harder to do more damage. If it is only a beam of energy, it should do the same damage no matter how hard you swing it. - Cut scenes and video clearly show "character A" stabbing "character B" with a light saber, then physically pulling it out of the dead victim; if it was only beam of pure energy, would this be required? Of course I am tongue-in-cheek about this, light sabers are supposed to be pure energy... but I have noticed the flaws in cut scenes and videos that seem to depict light sabers as having physical elements. Of course those scenes of light sabers being pulled out of the body of a victim were done purely for dramatic effect, but for any Star Wars purist or anyone who notices logic and consistency, those scenes are problematic.
  8. Agreed. So what if it's on rails, it is fun! Also, as the IGN reviewer mentioned, it is only intended as a fun break from the regular game... I believe it succeeds at that. I would love to see additions and improvements to the space combat in future expansions, but for now I feel that it is more of a positive than a negative.
  9. I am very happy to read this... please Bioware, no add-ons ever!!! While there are some useful add-ons that do not affect game play in any way (action bar mods, bag mods, mailbox mods, etc.), the vast majority of add-ons that exist in other games should not be in any MMO because they affect game play by making actions that should require thought, effort, and skill into mind-numbingly simplistic auto-botting. When most (if not all) of the top guilds require one or two specific add-ons in order to be considered to join a raid (i.e. Deadly Boss Mods), that is empirical evidence that it is a game changing mod and thus should not be allowed! Also, add-ons have dumbed-down the average player and made them lazy; how many healers are crying on these forums because they can't handle the pressure of healing without their HealBot mod? Deadly Boss Mods, Threat Meters, HealBot, Gear Score, et al. are examples of game changing mods that should NEVER be allowed! However, all that said, I would welcome a mod that improves the profoundly idiotic GTN UI.
  10. Completely true... also, the MMO genre was relatively young and small in number (but poised to explode in popularity). Thus, most who began with WoW were new to the genre and MUCH more forgiving when it came to bugs, instability, and other serious issues. Now however, the MMO community is more experienced and thus much more demanding (in many cases unreasonably so) in their expectations. WoW was a bug-filled, unstable, unbalanced mess on release, but I and most others who were there had a great time and enjoyed playing the buggy game as much as we could between the server crashes and emergency patches. Sadly that is not possible now because everyone is a self-deluded MMO expert and thus have no understanding and patience regarding minor issues. Rift was the best MMO release I have ever seen, and compared to Rift SWTOR loses easily, but compared to most other MMO releases over the past 3 or 4 years, SWTOR is a very solid product at release.
  11. Basically, you have no idea what you are talking about! Most MMO's have done the same... daily patches immediately after release is the norm. While I agree that it is frustrating because we want to play, it is understandable and even appreciated because we can see fixes and improvements being made. Eventually, when the game reaches a certain point of "stability" the patches will go to the normal once a week you are whining about; but for the first few weeks all good MMO's have to undergo a steady stream of patching.
  12. W.T.F. are you smoking? The GTN UI is the worst auction UI I have seen in any MMO... and I have seen a lot! What amazes me is that several designers and managers had to sign off on this thing, and apparently they all thought it was acceptable! I find it stunning that Bioware not only coded the piece of crap UI, but whatever levels of quality control and testing they do still passed that garbage on to release. The simple truth is that I am stunned such a terrible idea for a UI was even considered a good idea at the design stage; let alone made it to release. Unfortunately, the UI is not a bug. The game has many bugs and game play issues (that we assume/hope will be fixed soon), but the GTN UI is exactly as it was designed to be... and that makes me not only scratch my head and wonder what group of non-MMO playing morons coded it, but also will it ever be fixed/replaced considering Bioware accepted it as good enough for release.
  13. While I agree that there are issues with PvP healing in this game, I have to point out the fact that if you need macro's and UI mods to successfully play your healer... You. Are. Bad.
