  1. It's not about it being bug free. It's about the game being down for 8 hours straight for 3 days straight. Patches don;t takethat long. There is no reason for it to do so, other than them having to make wholesale hardware upgrade or replacement. If it's taking this long to implement a patch, that's on BioWare - and it needs to get fixed.
  2. No. It's about my 15th MMO launch. Going to bac to Ultima Online. Most of them didn't do this at launch. They might bring the servers down for an little while(30 minutes t o2 hours) but 8 or 10 hours for a patch? 3 nights in a row? Nope. You claiming that this is necessary or normal for MMO launches shows your ignorance. It does NOT take this long to patch an MMO. This is a policy decision from BW... and it's a poor one. So I;m complaining. I get to do that - Freedom of Speech and all that. If someone doesn't they won't change.
  3. Nice. You are the definition of what is wrong with the internet. No game, no matter how new, should need 30 megs worth of patching 3 days in a row. I don;t want the patch time moved to days - that's just silly. I just don;t want patches 3 nights straight interfering with my only time to play. It stinks. It's not cool. I don;t like it. It needs to stop. I want to like this game. I'm trying to give it a chance. This is my last week to play before class starts for me again on monday. If you don;t like it, don't read the thread.
  4. Yes, I appreciate the active patching and the fact that BioWare is trying to eep things moving forward with fixing problems with the game. But I am up at night. Patching every frigging night this week is TOO much. I'm really sick and tired of this, BioWare. Patch once a week. Maybe twice a week. No matter what's going on with the game, patching constantly likethis is NOT the answer. There has to be a better one. This one STINKS! EDIT: To be clearer, I am complaining about the servers being down for 8 or 10 hours a night, 3 nights in a row. It shouldn;t be necessary for them to be down for this long. If it is, BioWare needs to bring it some programmers with more experience in implementation, because no other MMO I have ever played has ever done this. Once a week to restart and maintain servers? Sure. 3 days in a row for 8 to 10 hours a night? Never, in the 15 or so MMO's I have been a part of the launch of has a game company done this. So I'm complaining. I get to do that. I'm a paying customer. With out feedback, BW won't change. I want them to do so. Therefore.....
  5. Ridiculous. There is no way any game will kill WoW by itself. People have said the same thing with every major MMO release for the past 4 or 5 years. None of them have even gotten close. No game can even come close to the features and content in WoW, not to mention the number of players gaming every day. Heck, I've even been told that Blizzard has a department whose only job is to time releases of new info, expansions and games in order to counter the releases of other games. BioWare might give WoW a run for it's money, and even end up with a few million monthly subs. But kill WoW? That's just silly...
  6. I agree wholeheartedly with the OP, though I can cetainly see the point behind some of the responses. Some kind of compromise should be found, though. What I want is to be able to do the cool acrobatic fighting style that Darth Maul used in Episode 1 and that we've seen Satele Shan use in all the video clips. Also, the animations for project and TK throw need to be changed. They look terrible. I don't really care if the mechanics(cast time, channel time, damage) all stay the same. Force lightning(the Sith Inquisitor's versions of these 2 powers) look AMAZING. They get to throw awesome looking lightning bolts. We get to throw rocks, pebbles and twigs at opponents. Really? Come on, BioWare. You should be able to do better. Going back to the trailers, just make our ranged attacks all look like visible telekinetic force like Satele Shan's attacks look like in the trailer that happens in the fight in the forest. THAT looks AWESOME! Shimmering waves of force and a giant ball of force are incredible! Twigs and pebbles? Not so much... Bolts of force lightning feel POWERFUL! Twigs, pebbles and rocks ripped from the ground? Not so much... BioWare needs to do better with this. Aesthetics are important.
  7. The other thing is in most games if u press and hold right mouse button, then press left, it causes you to move forward. After you have practiced this enough, it really will become second nature to you. I normaly use W A S D keys this way. W - forward S - back A - strafe left D - strafe right Most of the advice here has been solid, and if you use it that way you will get much better at PvP AND in any fights/boss fights where you have to move. As many posters have already said, this gets to be second nature very quickly. The one thing they haven;t talked about is mouse movement - not just using right mouse to rotate, but also to move forward. I don;t use it all the time, but it can be VERY useful sometimes... depending on what I'm doing, at least.
  8. Ok, as the veteran of too many MMO's launches to count(all the way back to Ultima friggin Online), I have to chime in about this. I understand BW's reasoning about this, and to a certain degree, it does make sense. What DOESN'T make sense is the following. 1.)Not telling their community when they're going to get access. Yes, the people who aren't getting in until the 18th or 19th will be ticked off, but at least they can stop checking their emails every 30 minutes for an invite. 2.)Poor communication about 'Early Access'. On the main site, where it says 5 day early access. Well, in EVERY other MMO that has done early access(at least that I've experienced) this meant that everyone got in then... not randomly, when the Devs felt ike it. Better communication would have made ALL of this go away. 3.)There is ABSOLUTELY no logical reason to not continue putting out waves. This is the part that probably has people the most angry, and the one that BioWare has not yet responded to in any real, logical manner. I watched my roommate play for about 5 hours yesterday. The highest the number of players in his Zone(the Sith starting area - Korriban) ever got was 123, shortly after this, he left the zone. I can appreciate not wanting the n00b zones to be overloaded and having dozens pf people fighting over mob spawns, but come on? Really. Quit being so conservative and put out a new wave every 2 or 3 hours, day or night. It can't be that difficult to instruct your email servers to send new waves out every so often. To all the BW butt kissers out there, this is not me QQing. This is me, a paying customer, expressing my EXTREME displeasure at the lack of foresight and communication from BioWare. They dropped the ball, BIG TIME here. This is worse than the Jar Jar Binks of releases. This is the Jar Jar Binks + Ewok love child of releases.......
