  1. Yeah... I haven't gotten very far to see how the UI really works. I am only level 12 on my hunter (and level 11 on my smuggler and 10 on my agent). I haven't even grouped yet (I mean other than informal pugs on the starter planets). I am kind of nervous to try out healing and have been shying away from groups for the most part. I like to have a better feel for things before I jump in and I don't have that "Feel" yet. I know the idea of requiring mouse over is a player based thing. I just wanted to chime in to say I support the idea of mouse over if that's what makes fellow healers enjoy the game, but I just don't want to to become "Required" by other players because I don't know if I want to use it. Then again, I suppose you could argue "how would they know?"
  2. I was an end game healer in my last MMO... our guild was server first all the time, etc. and for some reason, I was the favorite healer. I was also a favorite healer in PvP (I always found my favored status interesting since everyone thought I was so knowledgeable but truth is I healed more by instinct and feel and less on theory-craft. I couldn't theroy-craft my way out of a barn with no walls! I used to go to the forums and see what other people were doing and then try our their builds and ideas to see if it fit for me. ) Anyway, I never used mouse-over healing and did just fine. I kind of had a knack for just knowing what skill to use when... I could predict damage and base my heals on looking at the debuffs, the boss position, target or target (or in the case of PvP knowing the personality and fight style of the opposing players). Anyway, all that said, I really don't have a problem with adding mouseover healing as long as raid leaders or healing class leaders don't "require" it for raiding. That's my only real concern with this issue. Just wanted to throw that out there... oh, and yes, I also miss target of target (I'd love to see it, but I suppose I can adapt).
  3. I would love server forums. So /signed!
  4. I am hoping the long lines are temporary... on the upside, it's giving me time to wrap gifts (and watch Robot Chicken and Family Guy Star Wars )
  5. Scratch that, saw it twice. I wonder if they picked it for the Star Wars theme of the shows tonight or there will always be SWTOR advertising on Adult Swim.
  6. I've seen a few threads in the past about there not being any TV advertising for SWTOR. I just wanted to chime in and say that I just saw a TV commercial for it on Adult Swim (during the Robot Chicken Star Wars episode). Nice!
  7. There are too many responses to comment on, but thank you all for such great ideas and opinions. I kind have been playing with a dark slant, but you know what, I might just go with the flow and do the job I was hired to do. I'll save light side stuff for my Smuggler
  8. I have some family and friend obligations... so I won't have as much time to play, but I figure there will be plenty of time to play in the future. It is kind of annoying though; and playing the game really has nothing to do with it, I just get a bit overwhelmed by all the visiting, parties, etc, etc. I finally get time off from work and it's not even "my own time" anymore. I just like quite/me/downtime. But I set some limits. I will go to the Christmas Eve parties/dinner, Christmas parties/dinner, Day after Christmas party, New years eve party, and New Year's Day dinner that I've been invited to... but that's it (and yes, my family and friends do more! lol).
  9. Oh, and I like the choices--makes you think about your actions. I just wish there were some more "neutral" ones.
  10. My problem with light and dark side choices is based on my class, Bounty Hunter. I figure to be a good and reliable bounty hunter I shouldn't lie to my employer or take bribes from "marks" who want to get away.. Some of my choices have been leaning toward light (like releasing a young man from captivity for his brother) but others have been dark (had to bring home a kidnapped boy and the only way to do it was to kill the kidnapper--his father). I am hoping to end up "gray" but so far the choices have leaned me dark. But overall I am looking to play a "reliable" bounty hunter. I can't wait to play my Smuggler though, then I don't have to worry about a code of professional conduct, I can just be good and do what's in my heart (like giving medicine to sick kids on the premise that soldiers can get more easily enough and should know better than to let it get stolen from them in the first place ).
  11. I thought it would be nice to have a thread where people posted problems they had in the game and how they solved them (your solutions in case others have the same issues). It might be better than a dozen or more threads spread all over the place—especially while the search function is down. For example, I don’t have the latest and greatest rig and had a problem with mouse sensitivity and overall jumpiness. It was to the point where I couldn’t move very well. I fixed it by turning “off” shadows in the game. I also turned down camera panning (or something like that). I heard from a few guildies they had the same issues, so I told them my solution and it seems to work for most of them. I also had problems with Vent. For some reason, it wouldn’t work in game (I’d have to tab out to talk. I restarted it by right clicking on the Vent icon and “setting as administrator.” That seemed to work (although only temporarily, I am still working on that one). Honestly, I might stay out of Vent while solo/doing a lot of questing and NPC interaction—I like being social when I play, but I don’t like having people talk over the cut screens. That’s all I have so far, please add your solutions if you have them.
  12. Hehe... I am glad you cleared it up. My first though was, I have no idea what level those other guys are? But yeah, it is a topic that hasn't been discussed--which is kind of odd. Maybe people aren't to the point where they are doing all that much fighting (I don't know, I am a terribly slow leveler so I tend to be a bit behind the curve on these things).
  13. Oh yeah... I wasn't even thinking of that, sorry. Our adversaries didn't end up on the same server as we did
  14. I don't know if I count since I left a long time ago (over 4 years ago): 1. Server and char name: Elune, Neyre 2 Why did you leave WoW: To play LOTRO 3 are you going to play SWTOR perm? Yes... well, unless another cool game comes along. I left WoW for LOTRO and LOTRO for this game.
  15. I really don't know because I've been focused on my own character. I am sure there will be people higher level than me--that's a given. But eventually I'll be 50 and will be at the "top" too (until the first xpac anyway).
  16. I saw another thread about "who is the highest level." I liked that thread, but I thought it would be more fun to open things up to everyone to see what the range is so far. What level are you? I started on the first day (last invite wave) and I have a level 5 bounty hunter now... woot! lol . It's funny, a friend of mine who got his invite yesterday already has two level 7's. I think I shocked him. He wants to level with me and assumed I must be at least level 10 and was racing to 10 to "meet me" there. He should know better, I've always been slow at leveling in these kinds of games. I also have two level 1's, a republic character I intend to level the same time as my hunter and another character that I probably won't bother with now. I hardly have time for 2 characters, let alone 3.
  17. I didn't touch the bounty hunter too much in the beta tests because I didn't want to spoil too much of the story. Well, as I am playing now, I am finding that it's hard going either light or dark side and still being a "good" bounty hunter. In other words, when I am hired to bring in a mark, that's what I will do. I won't lie to my employer, etc. There were other situations in quests and over time I found myself picking the dark side choices since that's the way things have been leaning--but they aren't really the choices I *want* to make in all cases. But then I figured, hey, I *am* playing a killer for hire, so I guess I wouldn't have any real problem with, well, killing people for hire. The problem occurs when I play a "good" bounty hunter choice and it ends up being "light" (since most of the BH choices--so far--seem to be dark). It just seems that the light and dark choices are "forced" if you play a reliable bounty hunter. I know gray is an option--maybe--in the future. Maybe I should aim for that? Can anyone let me know (who's beta tested or is farther ahead than I am) if I generally pick the "bring in your mark" choices, if it all works out to gray in the end? Or if you can grind either light or dark points later to shape the character you want in the end--like if I want to be gray but am a smidge too "light"? Last thing, how does light or dark effect companions? Does it effect them only when they are active and you make the choices? Or does it effect them even after dismissed? Thanks!
  18. The funny thing is, that "computer chatter" stuff is often the result of typos/mistakes.
  19. I've got some for you... Racuh (German for Smoke) Rook (Dutch for Smoke) Ashab (Arabic for gray) Dhumavarna (Indian for the color of smoke) Mosi (meaning smoke) Fume (French for smoke) That doesn't help if you like the sound of Smokey though... you could try Samokey or Chmokie, or Shmokie.
  20. And I will add to that that other than those who got "first" almost no one else will remember (or even care).
  21. I just can't wrap my head around why it matters if other people are higher level than you or are first to do something. You still get to level and still get to do the same content. It's not like the instances all shut down after they've been visited X amount of times. And people level at different rates... some are level 20, I got to level 2, lol. So there will be people to group with, etc. I can understand wanting to play, it's a fun game... but why worry about what other people are doing? Or the fairness. It's like waiting in line to see a movie. It's not "unfair" that others got to the first screening and you are seeing it on day two... it's just as much fun when you get to see it.
  22. Yeah, that would be a problem (tired thumb no doubt). I hope you find a solution soon (or better yet that do add that slider back in). Good luck!
  23. I didn't see it either (and my mouse was "jumpy" for me). Maybe it moved if some people still have it? Or maybe just the OP and I didn't see it for whatever reason. Anyway, OP, if your problem is the same as mine (seemly over sensitive mouse) turning "off" the shadows seemed to help.
  24. I am playing on both sides. I really wanted to play a Smuggler, but I also like the Bounty Hunter too. Plus, my guild is rolling Sith. One thing I noticed was that the conversation on the Sith side on my server was a bit more "l33t" and the Republic side was a bit more friendly conversational. I also saw names that were kind of play on words names Sith side, stuff like "Obiwannacookie" and more "believable" names on the Republic side. However, there were more than 100 on Hutta and just 60 on the Republic starting planet (so total population numbers may come into play). Overall, I felt that the Republic side on my server was a little more mature, but really, it's too early to tell. That said, this 30-something gamer finds it funny that people try to guess what server the "kids" will be on. My guess is "kids" are attracted to both sides because "kids" are all unique individuals and don't all the same and don't think the same. But I should also point out, in my book if you aren't out of college yet and not working a full time job, then you are still a kid to me
