  1. Totally agreed, though I don't have a guild to "derp" with, so I enjoy my solo time with the game. For me, it does what it is supposed to do: entertain me. Is it perfect? Is it the way I'd do it? No. But that's not what it should be. It should be an entertaining, fun place many different people can go to to enjoy whatever aspects they look for in a game. I enjoy it and look forward to playing it when I'm at work or stuck doing something other than playing. I think that it is unwise to become overly concerned with the elements about a game (or business, or anything in life) that we can't control or don't have all of the facts about. I pay a monthly fee (happily), I will spend my stipend of Cartel Coins, and I will play the game. I will do so until such time that I no longer have fun doing so. That's all I ask. If the game (any game) goes away for whatever reason, then I will no longer play it. I'll find another game to play, be it another MMO or a table top game, or just take a break from games for a while. But, until such time, I'll keep on doing my thing. tl;dr: Don't worry about what you can't control, know, or understand. If you're having fun, then play. If you're not, then don't. Simple, really. I hope you continue to play and enjoy the game. "You" meaning everyone, not anyone in particular. May the Force be with you, DZ
  2. I'm of the opinion that it's annoying to lose the name of a character at all. The entire purpose of a "Role Playing" game is to take on the persona of a character within the fantasy world. Abrupt forced name changes can really mess with this for some of us. I know that many players don't really care. But, for me (and others), the name I choose dictates the actions that character takes. I might make two Jedi characters. NAME1 might be based on my D&D paladin who always does the right thing, is polite, and respects others. NAME2 would be based on an evil NPC from when I was DMing a D&D game and would be evil. I create each character to resemble their inspiration, taking time to get their look just right. The name and the character become one to me; I identify with them just as one would identify with a character in a movie or TV show. Then, BAM, forced name change. I can still play, yes, but it kills the whole idea around the character that I spent a lot of time and effort forging into my idea of how that character would be based on who they are; their name. Imagine, "Due to a programming change, the character formerly known as Indiana Jones will now be known as 1ndiannah Jo-nes." Yeah, it's lame, but it's an unfortunate reality in games like this until they stop using the character's name as its sole identifier for mail, chat, etc. I have 4 pending name changes and have already changed 2. -DZ
  3. This pretty much sums it up for me. Say hello. Actually invite me. I hate when I just get a random pop up. I don't even read them, honestly. Try this, "Hey, are you working on [quest name]?" And when they respond, try, "Me too. Want to work on it together?". That's all it would take in most cases. I'd be more likely to team up longer if there is some conversation once we're grouped too. Nothing crazy, just a reason to be in a group. I can finish quests solo all day long. But, I can't do them AND get a good banter going while playing by myself. Well, I can, but then people call me crazy. -DZ
  4. Well, this is an interesting thread! I'm 41, but have never really thought about any sort of an age difference with other players. Though, poor grammar (doesn't need to be perfect, but at least try, people) and immature chat and/or actions annoy me. I don't care how old a person is, just play respectfully and to the best of your ability. Maybe I'll teach you something about the game or maybe I'll learn from you. That's the best part of playing an MMO to me. As for being a professional, I don't know if being a 911 call taker (Dispatch Assistant) makes me a professional, but it's an interesting job. I'm surprised at how many police officers play these games, actually. I guess I just never thought about it, maybe? At any rate, Star Wars having a wide range of ages doesn't surprise me because it came out in 1977; for us 40ish year-olds, it shaped much of our imagination when we were growing up. So, to be able to sit down and play a freakin' Jedi is a dream come true! Just glad some of you whippershnappers are along for the ride. -DZ
  5. Just a quick update. Gamer Seeking Gamer is live and available to use! The database is small right now, so you won't get a lot of matches when you search, but the more people that join, the more matches we'll start to get! I would appreciate the help of the SWTOR community in being a building block to what I hope will become the next great thing for gamers of all types. The info is in my signature and I invite you to stop by and check it out. If you like what you see, sign up and help build the user base so people can start getting matches. It's a great place for guilds to recruit, too! So, please, give it a look. May the Force be with you. Any questions, ask here or send me a private message. Feedback is very welcomed! Thank you! -DZ And once again, thank you, MODS for keeping this thread open. I appreciate it.
  6. I have to agree. If the event is over, get rid of it, please. Heck, I was tired of the whole Rakghoul thing halfway through that Maker-forsaken planet (Taris). It was almost as bad as Desolace. Love the game, but that planet left a bad taste in my mouth, personally. DZ
  7. Jawas and Droids, please. Also, Kel Dor, Togruta, Nikto, Trandoshan, and Weequay would be sweet. My 2 cents. DZ
  8. Hello, hello, hello.... is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me, now. Is there anyone at home.... DZ /couldn't resist
  9. From what I understand, Lucas wonders the same thing. He never thought that Boba Fett was much of a character [citation needed, I know]. However, you have to realize that we had never seen anything like him before. This is before Iron Man, before Power Rangers (for kids, mind you), before all of the other "******" armored and helmeted warriors out there. For me, it was he was mysterious and dangerous. He followed and caught Han, nudged Luke in the right direction (he missed on purpose and was helping get Luke to Vader if you ask me). He didn't panic and was a cool customer. Plus, that armor was out of this world! True, he "died" in a lame way, but that's because Lucas didn't understand why he was as popular as his big villain (Vader). Which is unfortunate, because he deserved to be treated better, in my opinion. I get why Boba is popular. What I don't get is why people like Deadpool. Now, he's a joke. DZ
  10. I am not bored yet. But, I haven't hit 50 yet, and I'm an altoholic, so I can usually find something fun to entertain myself with in game. I do hope that it doesn't die at 50, though. The fun, that is. -DZ
  11. Alex, Check my sig for information that might help you if you don't find a guild immediately through this post. It sounds like you're exactly who I want to help with the site. If I knew of any decent guilds, I'd suggest one. Unfortunately, I'm more of a lone wolf type, so I don't have any recommendations. Good luck in your hunt, though. -DZ
  12. Thank you, mods, for moving this to a more appropriate location and not deleting it! I hope people find it useful. I've worked hard to make it so! -DZ
  13. Hey, guys and gals, sorry if I’m not supposed to post this in here, but I thought I’d share a FREE website I had designed to help people that play SWTOR, and other games, find each other in order to play together. Games include online games of all types, table top RPGs, collectable card games, board games, and other types of multi-player games. It will be completely searchable so you can find the exact player type or guild type that you’re looking for. Right now, it is available for early sign up so you can reserve your membership name (Gamer Name) and gain early access in order to set up all or some of the 4 profiles that will be available to you. For more information and to sign up, please check out the site! http://www.gamerseekinggamer.com or on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/gamerseekinggamer MODS: This is a legit, free site that players of SWTOR can use to recruit guild members, find a guild to play with, or simply find other players with similar play styles to play your game together. It is not a dating site. I would greatly appreciate it if you don’t delete this post. If you have questions, please PM me and I will follow up accordingly. Thank you everyone! -Darth to the Zeppelin
