  1. Yeah each time i convert i'm very carefull since i imagined doing this myself. There is really no reason to have both direction convert at a loss its like trading bananas for apple at a 3:1 ratio then apple for banana at 3:1 ratio ... What kind of economic system is that ? Banana republic most likely ... Trade should be 3:1 on one side and impossible the other way around with a buy back option. If they want to encourage world PVP they should make mercenary to WF 1:3 and 3:1 on the reverse, clearly stating the higher value of mercenary commendations. The confirmation window is a pita when you do it 24/7, you dont really see it anymore at one point you just click yes ... here is a link to an interesting piece of research that explain why confirmation popups dont work to prevent people from mistakenly converting mercenary comms : http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2701252/ Its the same as for airport screening and x-ray analysis. A better idea would be to flag strange buys (buying lvl 15 gear for a lvl 50 character, converting Merc to WZ, Destroying an epic lvl item, RE an item that cant provide a better version through RE). Those should pop an confirmation window while the rest should be assumed to be the right choice.
  2. Your fix would not fix people running out of range. What happens if the person applying the dot is standing out of range and just wait on the dot ? You see him you could hit him if you were close but the turret wont follow you around ... So you either cleanse and the person run in range and apply it again, or you decide to kill the doter running away from the objective that wont cap itself alone. If you follow the doter, he will just run away and laugh... If someone else try to cap he can dot and kite at the same time ... He eventually can prevent the whole team to cap solo. You say he wont be killing anyone? He wont get medals ? Yeah but he will win So if there is good players there they will abuse every design flaw to win for their team and let them be gratefull and give him MVPs. The fix is perfect. Its been in place in all other MMORPGs for a reason. People end up abusing dots otherwise.
  3. The dot preventing the cap change do not dumb down the game. This strat was a powerfull one but it was really easy mode. Run in range dot run out of range... rince and repeat. How is that not dumb ? Now you can still do that but you cant do it to 5 persons at once (or if you can 2 thumbs up). If anything it make it more challenging. The alternative to this fix would be to make it possible to spam clean for every class. Then what happens ? Classes depending on dots would really suffer. As it is most class self cleanse is on a very long CD (1 min) and the dot can be reapplied instantly in most case. The fix they did is a no brainer, its the less damaging option to the game and to any specific class. You can still prevent multiple caps but you cant do it while OOR or while dead .
  4. Well my own answer is: i was too lazy to manage to free a key to bind it to. Its still not bound but i honestly will have to, its too good. If there is one ability that is OP its AE taunt. Before using it on a regular basis i thought it would share a CD with single target taunt but it does not. Well it will most likely change . I used to single taunt but most of the time there is huge melees and AE taunt make the difference between winning and losing that combat. There is also no clear evidence on you taunting so people wont switch to you so they will just waste time. Its really not about the medal its about victory ... Until the other team realize that to kill a healer you have to down its tank first you'll have a good laugh. Between single taunt and AE taunt you can have the main dps on the opposing team on nearly permanent -30% dps ; ). You add to that stuns snares KBs and you just are a pita.
  5. Your post really shines in the pool of rants out there. I applaud the effort to spread wisdom instead of trolling away. Tank is a job better done while off the radar. You wont get recognized by players but the engine actually cares about you ...

  8. Your poor logic (OP) is the kind of logic that leads to racism, sexism, and other form of biased detrimental vision of the world. You take a perception of the reality which is not supported by facts, and you assume it is comming from a difference in the essence of the persons to which this perceptions of inequality applies. You should take a step back and think over this before even posting those. This post could be reported as hurtful by players because in essence it is... if not in intent.
  9. So you think a lvl 1 could be BM even with only 2 available skills available ? Valor should be locked until 50. You would not stand a chance in battle against a 50 without bolster so this really says it all... you cant be battle master because you would be trampled in any battle against any 50 in underwear while they are having breakfast at the same time.
  10. Yeah wins really encourage people to give what they got or quit if they cant be bothered. I like that. The dailies are just a bonus. Its not called dailied because you need to do them. Get one win a day if thats all you can get. It is still unfair since Imperials will get it in 3 match and republics over 3 days but the problem is not the quest. People need to realize if they "fix" the game around side unbalance as soon as the unbalance fixes itself they got to change everything all over again.
  11. I consider 90% of the posts in here to be trolls ... I renamed the board TVT... The dreamland where trolls go about wild. I am rather surprised they did not just close the PVP section altogether.

  13. Well i say one bad player forcing one healer to self heal for 10 minutes is a good trade-off ; ) Bad player wins the match.
  14. My understanding of many problems in PVP is that there is a disconnect between the client side information you see (full resolve bar let say) and what is on the server. The client seem to update with a 2-4 seconds delay making the game mechanic look wrong while the problem is in the client updating frequency. There is although some things related to CC that is clearly not working ... I can get stunned (dart + flash grenade + force Choke) at least 3 times in a row without pause which seem wrong since i cant hard CC anyone for more than 2 times without rendering the person immune.
  15. Pants are over-rated too... still i manage to get them on each day. Arena is not a gold standard in any mean so why even bring it up to a game that do not have arenas ? Arena is impoverished WZ. Progress Quest is impoverished MMO. Should we balance the game in relation to the speed of progress of each person in Progress Quest ? I let you figure this out.
  16. I like random bags... They add some excitement to the process. Pure commendation systems are boring. During work i expect just payment for my effort. During play i expect fun surprise randomness crazyness ... Dont put us back in the grinding mill. People need to learn so patience. The game will get better. People will get their loot. Things will turn out alright. Patience...
  17. Yeah its hard to believe your game is that slow. The icon you see at the bottom is not deserter debuff its the countdown until you are kicked out of the game. You dont have any disadvantage in having it up. In fact its always up when you are dead. You can even miss a couple doors, its very permissive to my taste. I dont know the real lenght but i think its over a minute. I must admit that you are right that making it longer at the start of the game would not hurt the game since abuser would still be kicked without reward and players with dinosaurs could still play.
  18. I do not post this here to antagonize your point that i can really understand and i share the pain from past similar experience. I feel that the server Q are very beneficial to my PVP WZ experience. I play republic and i have instant Qs. I do know the players in nearly every match and i know the ones i like to tag along with i know who i can pass to in Huttball. Server Qs really build a community while interserver Q do not bring this to the game. People dont meet often enough. Cross server Q are not a very good solution to the actual problem ... Nearly all server are biased toward empire population wise. This will lead to cross server Q to have the same problem you have actually. The real solution would be to offer player a one time controlled cross from Empire to Republic for characters to their mirror class. You might not have to cross yourself but if enough switch this should fix part of the problem. Part of the problem because the other part is that you are possibly on a PVE server with really low tolerance to PVP. This could be fixed by inter server Q but if you really care about PVP the better solution is to move to a PVP server where (in a distant future far far away you might enjoy World PVP.
  19. Being supportive to BW effort to fix the part that are in need of it would me more conducive to results than evasive complaints. You need to see why they did it and what would be the alternative. Bolster is not perfect but it is far better than low level brackets that become the Twinks hotspots and make life miserable for player that are just passing by. My experience was that it was more enjoyable than in other games where you get destroyed by someone 1 level above you with epic items in each slot. The Developers obviously did not expect such a massive player imbalance. They would have done something previous to the debacle. The match that start with unequal teams is a problem that plagues most MMO pvp WZ. This is trade off between equal team and cancel match (player not playing). They decided to allow players to play even if it meant unequal teams. The system they put into place need tweaking but it can be fixed and will be if they are given the chance. My personnal suggestion would be for them to reduce the timer to join a WZ and make it so if you fail to accept or refuse before the end you get handed a 5 minute deserter to encourage people to accept or refuse as fast as possible. I would also prevent Q from poping during conversation with NPC which lead people to wait for the last possible second to join. Just keep people at the top of the Q for another round if they are in a conversation or pop up the game if the conversation finish and the game still need players.
  20. Well i expect to be playing over 300 hours during the next year so this should net me the weapon under 3 months of play which is a certitude so that 100% was right. I think this is pretty decent for a mmo. Your point was that this is unreasonable, well? Maybe for some. Maybe reason is already elluding us... is it? Maybe they should just give us all the gear in each bag to be sure we get it in a reasonable time in the eyes of everyone. But i should correct part on the math pointing out that assuming 50 % wins you get a free bag each day and 3 each week for 6matches a day. My comprehension from centurion item cost is that they expect you to get an item every 13 bags. So if you dont you can buy next to any piece except the weapon at this point. So even as a slacker you can rack an item (of your choice) each week of play or so. Champion gear is a bonus they give you until you reach BM then they let you buy them in the same way as centurion. I say remove random drop and keep the 3 centurion commendations. You can always buy green packs if you are running around buck naked.
  21. Well i dont know about that one but i know i already lost while getting data 20 secs before the other team ... as second team ... This may have been addressed already in some patch but they might have mixed something else up.

  23. I like the idea, It might attract people into the system but in the end the idea is to convince players that playing and competing is a reward by itself. I think that the problem is there is unbalance atm that will take untill both side reach the cap of gear until things settle down. The problem will fix itself over time but next expansion it will be to start again. As long as there is progression some players will fall behind. I would really like PVP reward not to be PVP or PVE relevant or at least very little. Giving them title or lightsaber crystals would meet this idea. I know however people want gear and some people want to dominate others (sound pretty Empire dont you think ? In the end, this would enbale some sort extra value to playing on a leveled field system. Another way of doing this would be to get those unique "baubles" (title, crystal, speeder, ...) on a high number of handicap games (100 wins ?) or people that want to get them will get them over a week then go back to smashing noobs ; ).
  24. Well the title would be optional to use as it is actually. So when you are questing or doing flashpoints you turn it off. You can also just not use it if you want to splatter people... The idea is recognition... People feel some people got handed their gear free. No one know who has the skill to back it up. This would be a way. I read post of people asking for proof that people gained a lot of valor quickly. Evidently it is impossible to prove other than from the person that gained it. Now people will have a way to demonstrate why they deserve the title. If you dont deserve it you will hurt your team... If your team is having a hard time and the handicap is hurting it ... you can remove it or reduce it to regain an advantage. Its just there to promote fairness. Instead of removing gear and reward, you offer an alternative playstyle where people will want to be a BM and reduce their gear advantage over other players to regain some of the thrill of not being overgeared. Some people like to stump the other team over and over, but most dont like it for long and might be tempted to try it and like it...

Yeah it would have been ideal to force playing into taking the handicaps in order to acquire title but now that we have already people at the higher tiers this system would just penalize new players which is again not the intent. I was thinking of this as a field equalizer while keeping the gear gain in place for player that do not want to be recognized as PVPers it would give a avenue for PVPers to still be told appart from valorfest players. The gear set could still be included in the gear but it might defeat the idea if the advantage of those bonus counterbalance the handicap. On the other hand this might introduce a new avenue of play customization. Their could be 5 set of PVP for each tier giving different level of handicap but with counterbalancing boosts to single skills. So if you like to be a ball runner in huttball on set could increase your run speed or reduce the cd on force speed but with increase overall handicap. You could have a set for stealth, for tanking, healing, for rocket launching , so increased specialization but to a higher cost in some other area. This would be a major pain to balance over a simple system though.
