Punish? Ey.... Oh the time issue again. So, there should be no incentive to get in groups and be social without a do it all system? No rewards? sure lol

If you honestly didnt see the social side of wow or any other MMO and just sat there spamming. boo hoo you. but not all of us did that. I was a social MMO player, not a console matching making type of guy. Work it out!

I know SWG is SOE and a sanbox MMO. totally different. But.... If BW removed the fleets and added a spaceport system like in SWG. One per city. Each spaceport allowing travel to the next city or planet with no hops. Each city having its own perks. One city holds all the PVP reward vendors, Another city all the PVE rewards etc. Instead of the system we have now, Fleets, loading screens and more loading screens. A community hub based off the planets never made sense. But this is off topic so ill leave it there.

I love the game m8, I truely do. But playing an MMO to me is more then just about loot etc. A sense of community. Which i know people in this thread seem to by pass. But in WoW it did change. The game became a lobby game.push that one button, in and out. repeat. Ive played MMOs for years. and the social aspect about an MMO is what drew me in. Knowing people on the server, there class, meeting up. getting to know people. I know you can do this now to an extent. But MMOs were designed around this. This is how you had to be to get into groups. But now. Its gone and will soon be replaced with a console match making system. No offense to the casuals as i know its to get them into the genre and gaming. I see the benifits no doubt. But i also see the downside. And the downside to me out weights the bonuses of the system. So to me if this game goes down that route. its no longer a game i will enjoy playing. So its best to move on! If they implement a system which stops people jumping in an instance, getting what they want and moving on to the next. If it doesnt empower the ninjas and the idiots with no online gaming ethics. Ill stay, but WoW LFG empowers all these types of players. and if this comes to TOR.... Ill be gone.

Well, x-server is been talked about. It looks like SWTOR is going down the WoW route and will have the same ethics in terms of community and grouping.., shame. Time to look else where! So... Whats all this talk about GW2?

You just said the answer in your own post. The player would have to move servers to continue playing. Thats policing enough, and if you every played WoW or any other MMO before 2009. you would know it works. Working doesnt mean 100% but it was nothing like WoW is now. Add the tool and the maturity of the new MMO players of today = WoW community, Rush in ROOOOAR loot, do another, Bottom line players will to put up with lack of a community just for Badge ratio...Mmmmm great. You have got to remember. 1.2 is coming, and a same server LFG tool is coming. This will help you all get in groups. If you are on a low population server, thats BWs fault for oipening to many servers, a merger is a must. But there is other ways to get people grouping other then x-server.. But i feel most of the people who want it. fit into the categories ive discribed. They dont care for others, As some of you have said, they dont care for community like some of you have said. its all about speed. Which is a shame as there is other ways, turing MMOs into lobby games for speed and convenience. Gone is the adventrue! Anyway, we all have opinions. this is just mine. Dont rush over the point. Bad behaviour is policed when a single server has its own population. Act an idiot, a ninja etc you will get black listed by the server population, your name turns to mud. This helped keep servers in check and a pleasant place to be. With x-server tools. You empower anyone who wished to act an idiot as there is no fall back. They just bounce from instance to instance doing the same thing. Wow is rampant for this behavour now.

I was interested in GW2. but after hearing it might be going pay2win. its not really the payment plan i enjoy in MMOs

To implement? Not sure. maybe you should drop one of the many MMOs a line who has done it. They might give you some advise on what it takes in system development. But i doubt its simple. just like creating any other system. Abit like this LFG system. I doubt thats simple either!

Great read, even epic'er ideas! You see people, jumping the gun on x-server because wow did it is pointless. We need to wait. Like i said, i have yet to say x-server doesnt work. Some of you, "You know who you are" seem deluded and blinded by the fact server merges work. Or even existed to a certain person. If not, BW should look into it again, and then last resort x-server LFG. I know alot of you dont care for communities, It shows in your posts. But It is an MMO afterall. Which is built on such things. BW just dont want tor to become a jump in jump out badge/ratio wh0re fest. Which is great. It shows they are true MMO players, have experienced a server community and are trying to push this. Yes we have a same server LFG system and im pretty sure if you add this with a server merge. Everything will be sorted. MMOs have been around a long time using such systems to keep a popuation flurished and a server based community flurishing. Some people just need to step out of WoW for a minute to see. MMOs were not born in 2009, no matter what some of you believe.

The guy before me comfirmed it for ya . He added some sort of story about investors. But all MMOs have investors and MMOs do server merges. Makes the point abit moot. But yeh, another confirmation.

Epic times, On the bria server. we were the second guild to get the jetpack. although FOE the first guild took over 20 players. We did it with around 8 I think. Epic days and times.

Sorry pal, but server merges are real. They are here and have been for a long time. You really should step out of WoW once in a while to see the rest of the genre.

Im not sure if your keyboard is broke. But ill help you out a little Type in google "MMO SERVER MERGE" That should get you started in knowing the genre better.

Im not gonna start providing links to new MMO players about the history of MMOs. You have the internet. Go research. If i honestly have to provide you with links that MMOs use server tranfers and have done since they started. Then you just showed your knowledge of the genre!
