  1. I always mix these up but depending what you need/want:

Artifice - Hilts, Relics & Color crystals

Cybertech - Mod, Enhancements & Ear

    Biochem - Implants & Stims/Adren

Synth - Armoring (if no set bonus yet)

I'm sure I am forgetting something.

  2. At this particular point in time, they all are (or most depending on your class/discipline) as long you have access to the higher level schematics either via OPS or are already into tier 2/3.
  3. I never did that, as I always used pvp to supplement leveling, and I would suspect that the vast majority do as well, so in reality this is no different than it used to be for most. How many people really hit level 70 with 25k+ wz comms? I wouldn't bet there were many, but I could be wrong.

You could also transfer from your main. Every single alt I leveled in 4.0 had a full set as soon as they dinged 65.

  4. I've only played the game for a couple months and I love it.

However I don't see why I should hate the new update. I just got my first character to lvl 70 but have never tried any of the group stuff and don't know where to start.

I tried to read the patch notes but I ended up just being confused by what I was reading. I don't know what these command tokens are, bolsters, command points, etc.

Welcome to the game. You don't have to hate anything. But I would advise any gamer to rebel against RNG and long grinds in any game. If you are someone with all the time in the world you may feel differently but if you don't spend every waking hour in game you should be against RNG and Grind.

  5. You guys have mistaken the genre. This isn't a third person action game. It's a mmoRPG. Gear should always matter and i think they didn't do enough. They should remove bolster completely.

If you don't want gear to matter in PvP go hop on Vader in Battlefront and enjoy.

I also enjoyed it when i could just buy full PvP sets for alts, before 5.0, the moment they hit 65, but i find myself not disliking this change. Maybe cus i am focusing on 1 char atm. Will see as time goes on.

I think most people don't care if gear matters a little. I personally like earning gear and playing around with it to min/max it. However, the operative word is "little". Once you get into large gaps in gear it becomes no fun for those that do not have gear, and also for those that do but like competitive matches.

Large gear gaps is also very bad for the general health of PvP as anyone new or people with alts will simply not bother with PvP which leads to less people, less pops etc.

  6. So does that mean it is literally no use to get 230 (purple) gear over 208 pvp gear? Or is that too soon to tell?

You will probably want to keep your 208 armoring for the set bonus. Though it is probably too early to tell. I hope they change this very soon as it will be a bleeding festering wound for PvP.

  7. from the sound of it, you make it sound like everyone is still t1. if that's the case, this wouldn't have much effect. most people here haven't even logged on and are acting like someone kicked their puppy.

That is why I have specifically qualified my statements. But if it is accurate and from most reports it does seem accurate this is a really really bad day for PvP. Any new player, any alt or any casual or part timer is going to suffer when entering PvP needlessly due to gear. There is no way you can think this is a good idea. Gear "soft gating" PvP is a truly awful idea. It's worse then the RNG grind.

  8. People craft em for just the mats, they keep the crits and sell those.

I highly doubt every PvPer has access to the friendly neighborhood crafter that will do this. You are trying to sugar coat a big steaming pile.

  9. Anyone t3 can make them but you don't have to be t3 to use them. There are plenty up on the gtn on JC, I don't know about the other servers.

I posted in the other thread also. But they run 3-5 mil per mod on the Harb. You are currently talking over 100mil to be on par currently. This is a horrible horrible change for the health of PvP if it is accurate.

  10. nah, the more people that hit t3, the more 240 pieces will be on the GTN and the cheaper they will be.

This is crazy. 240 Gear runs 3-5 mil right now per mod/enhance. You are talking months before you can get a complete set under 20mil if ever. It is a ridiculous change.

  11. you can craft 240's and be only 2 behind t3 gear...

Where do the schems come from? I assumed you can't get them until you are in tier 3/or from OPs or buy th emods/enhancements which are a fortune. I hope I'm wrong but if this change is for real it is horrible for PvP. It will severely decrease the people that will want to participate literally overnight.

  12. On my Mara I have received 4 set pieces at rank 46. Sadly they are all bracers.

The system blows worse then any other gearing system I have ever seen in any game I've played. That being said there are changes coming tomorrow which will not really help much at all.

  13. Marauder sounds like the class for you. If you like stealth then go Assassin. Mara's can be a steep learning curve, especially with all the ranged fotm's these days, but it has among the best burst (Carnage discipline) in the game and plays like "your hair is on fire".

As far as the the other "lightsaber" classes I would stay away from Juggs (unless you want to tank) and Sorcs (unless you want to heal) as the DPS specs are broken in the current meta.

  14. I have no problem with premades. It sucks when you are constantly going up against them but there are ways to avoid if you really want to. I honestly find my skills degrading when I'm on a good premade for an extended period of time due to everything being easier.

In a perfect world we would all have a rank (in regs also) and a large population so you get matched appropriate but that is a pipe dream. Be glad the Queue pops at this point.

  15. Thanks for the feedback. It seems you have all confirmed in practical terms that for a solo PvE-er, gear stop at 68/228. Grinding past that is possible, but it seems abundantly clear that the time/reward ratio is ridiculously off kilter.

    Thanks.

You can get a bit higher then 228. I don't know all the recipe requirements above 230 but for 230 gear you need the blue ingredient that you get from many things but for you could try veteran flash points. Some are very easy to solo and others are a bit of challenge but can be done with a high level companion.

  16. Yeah me too. I hate when people take one screenshot and then think it offers overwhelming proof regarding their personal biased opinion that a class is OP'd.

I could take screenshots of 4v4s with the same number of any class just as you show of the mercs there.

Now, if you offered 30 different screenshots in a 5 day period showing the same number of them in 4v4s, then that would give you some credibility to your impassioned whine thread about mercs overflowing the wzs.

I'd love to see you do it. I'm guessing that is ranked also so let's make sure you are comparing apples correctly.

  17. Both are easy to achieve with a stim. I'll sitck with the 110 or less like I told him. For my Sin I felt power and crit were the best. Unless I am wrong.

I have not checked out sins yet in 5.0 but most DPS classes for PvE the priority is Accuracy to 110%, then Crit to ~41/42% then Mastery/Power.

    For PvP drop the accuracy.
