Mostly marauders playing rage(back then both juggs and maras 3rd tree was called rage). Smash was hitting like a truck. So normally in mid a coordinated smash of 2-3 of them killed everything in range.
As I recall it was also a simple setup that was not quite spamable but pretty darn close, hence the monkey moniker.

I'd like to see a more predictable gearing system.

I don't think it is a bad thing that less skilled players are joining ranked. Some will get better, the less skilled tend to get frustrated and leave. It's good for the long term health of ranked that more players join.
That being said, if you are not going to try then don't join.

Anyone that has ever been a part of an Grindy RNG system has got to the point you have... and many will with this system. Even the Knights on this forum at some point are going to say this is stupid.
I love pizza, who doesn't, but eating it every day you will come to hate it. It's human nature.
You have many many many people with you if it is any consolation.
-
I won't say if they are OP or not but I had a ranked match against 3 mercs and had 2 mercs on my team.
-
All reasonable changes and frankly should have been there from the start.
Though i would change three too - Once you hit the max rank in the tier you are able to buy any missing pieces for that tier with credits.
-
and if they wait till march to fix things, they might not like EAs reaction to their financial numbers
Yep, I don't think many people are going to put up with this pile.

Wow, That was a crap sandwich. The said nothing of substance

I said the benefit is small and the effort to get it is disproportionately high
The bonus can be significant, but we can disagree on that. The above sentance is why so many are irritated with the new gearing system. Whether YOU want to be the best you can be or not is not my concern, but the simple fact is there are many many people that do want that.
And whether you believe it or not these people are typically the people that set the enjoyment level for others whether directly or indirectly. The way EAware is going is you may very soon have severs stacked with a bunch of solo players watching cut scenes. And nothing against solo players, I like to solo also at times. But anyone that likes to group for any activity in this game should be very very worried about the command system and the Grind/RNG associated with it.

RNG variations in combat, over a prolonged fight, swamps out any measurable benefit.
If you have, it of course you would wear it... but if you don't.. the sky is not falling.
AGAIN you are wrong. Variables only matter if they go one way and by the very definition variables don't.
And no one said the sky is falling, you and others act like it makes no difference when it does. You are obviously white-knighting EAWare's banner.

This exemplifies the facts actually.
If you make 0.50 per hour.. then a 0.25 bump IS extremely significant.
If you make 50.0 an hour... 0.25 won't be missed or appreciated really, except on the matter of principle. Some people will fight over a penny. Others are more pragmatic.
Same with set bonus. It's total bonus effect is small. Now.. if you are using it as a stand-on-principle over your dislike of the random nature of Command Crate contents.. just say it and stop hiding behind small bonus effects as though they were make/break for your game play.
Fact is, the RNG component of combat rolls/results in battle will swamp out any effects of the set bonus. If you were to run a statistical set on the results of combat with and without set bonus... the total net effect is probably around 1% advantage with the set bonus. {Big freaking deal}
Set bonus on MMO items is a carrot some people are foolish enough to pretend is a brick of gold, with diamond inlays that they simply must have.
A mole hill is not a mountain, unless you insist it is strictly on principle. From any practical standpoint, it's simple conflation on your part.
You logic is completely flawed. .25 cents over a course of year is enough of difference to most people coming in at $500.00 or so. Set bonuses matter on long encounters is the point and you can right 7 more paragraphs on how it does not matter but you are completely incorrect.
-
Last I checked, the tank set bonus gave a 2% or 3% boost to mitigation. Nothing to get overly excited about. Some of the 6 pieces bonuses aren't bad, but they aren't game changers by any stretch of the imagination.
You do realize that 2 or 3 % over and extended encounter means less heals right?
-
Set bonus is only tiny increase in dps. You will not need it unless you're really bad player. Of course if you're then maybe you should try to get better at game instead. Like someone said a long time ago: player skill > set bonus
Horrible logic. So I'm assuming you would turn down .25 extra on your hourly pay?

Good for everyone who is only doin pvp but everything else (flashpoints etc) is USELESS to do cause CXP is CRAP
You dont want to understand it right?
Everyone except a few trolls would like to see all activities increase in CXP gain
-
Currently it is the only reason to log into the game and people complain about it.
-
Besides, the OP was providing a road map to gearing up while you work the cxp "grind". A player can still attain BiS gear without ever setting foot in a raid.
A player can ONLY obtain BiS gear by grinding Command Ranks. People have all these wonderful solutions but that simple fact remains completely 100% true whether you think it is necessary or not to have BiS gear.
-
Ah, I wasn't talking about those schematics. I was talking about the ones directly dropping from hm and nim operation bosses and I think 234 can come from ranked daily/weekly boxes too.
But anyway, the beauty of crafting is that you don't personally need to get the schematics. Someone else eventually will and then they can make as many as they want as long as they have the materials and time to do so.
They will then sell them, or do you think they will just be given away like candy at Christmas?
You are living on fantasy island man.
-
And if you're a dedicated pvper worried that this is all about operations worry not since the bolster currently in place in all the layers of pvp is enough to even match bis players.
We won't know this until someone actually has BiS gear, sometime in Juneish.

ive been playing since launch and have seen one server rollback and they fixed it pretty quickly...
There was a server roll back yesterday on Harbinger. I know it's not the first time.
-
New bugs are one thing if they were never reported in Beta. So don't hate for that.
Old bugs that have never been fixed, reported beta bugs that were not fixed and bugs that seem to pop up every so often is just sloppy and lazy.
-
Sub runs out on the 24th (Merry Christmas!). Tomorrow's Live Stream will determine if I even consider extending (my hopes are not high).
-
Making the crates legacy wide would be too fast imo. 2-3 months out we're going to have some level 300s and instant gearing of alts would be a little crazy.
Valid point but then you might have people logging in and out when they are getting close to a new command level. More of a QOL so it could be refined.
-
That doesnt help the people who want to pvp and pve without doing raiding. You just get rid of one complaints and add to the other spectrum. Need to think of ways to give to the raiders but also satisfy the player base that doesnt want to raid.
It's too late to go back. I like the fact that everyone can get good gear, everyone should have access. The problem is that it is not legacy wide, it's too RNG and it is too freaking long.
They need to adjust the numbers so all activities are getting CXP at a good pace, with the harder content giving more, make it legacy wide (including the crates) and make certain levels open a "tier vendor" where you can purchase any missing pieces.
That's a system just about everyone can live with.

Oh I agree, however more players joining will move us at least a little closer to a true elo system.
