  1. Just to put it out there when Scrab flew on Pot5 he was a force to be reckoned with but not the demigod you all make him out to be. We have (had) many pilots of his caliber fly our skies. The vast majority of our dedicated pilots have moved on and GSF has become somewhat of a farce on Pot5, it's much like the other servers now. As to whom I respect, anyone that can make an imperium/clarion dance like a scout racking up double digit kills and 60k plus damage. Anyone that can hold a satellite versus a bomber and their support in a scout. Anyone that can break a gunship wall down. Anyone that forces gunship walls by out flying an entire team so well they have nothing left to try but six gunships and two bombers. And finally. The pilot that can kill those two bombers over and over again. So again, do we really need yet another epeen / popularity contest? You people do know there are more servers and way more pilots to fear than JC and TEH, right? If not keep the good work on stroking those epeens.
  2. My only question is why crapids over quads? You need the extra range and umph. I use them like everyone else, in concert with clusters. This combo may be the biggest unsung hero of GSF.
  3. Attack Plane When attacking anything, jousting is just dumb unless you're an accomplished bomber pilot out to make gunships look stupid. Many GSF pilots are not as situationally aware as they should be, they don't track what is around them. Only what is directly in front and visible on the screen. Use this lack of awareness to your advantage. Locate a target that is being difficult for your team to deal with, a bomber, well flown strike or gunship. Take 10 seconds to locate their area of focus. Move between 15 and 30 degrees out of their forward vision. Choose an angle that is above or below, again between 15 and 30 degrees, attack. More than likely your first series of attacks will go unnoticed and sustained fire will kill the target within three to ten seconds depending on the reaction of the pilot and the ships defenses. Continuing to use all three axis and moving out of direct vision of targets, you will walk away with a much higher kill to death ratio that you have before. RUN You can tell when a pilot is moving beyond the basics when they start to hit and fade. Using attack planes as described above, attack at full speed and once you pass the target boost away behind cover, choose another attack plane and repeat until the target is dead. A fast moving target is unlikely to succumb to a railshot or missile attack if they are using obstacles to constantly break lines of sight. Most pilots won't be able to react to the large amounts of damage each pass does. You will also not give the target the time to react as you will already be gone. This tactic should be used especially in cases where you are attacking a target that is amongst other targets that may be working to defend it. Like a bomber holding a satellite or a wall of gunships in a TDM match. MOVE Like running but for gunships and bombers, even strikes and scouts in small movements not great ones. You can use your maneuvering thrusters (strafe) at anytime, even when targeting a railgun. A moving target is much harder to hit than a stationary one, a great gunship pilot will never stop moving. For a gunship, once you start to use your scope to aim, hold down shift+w (or any direction you feel like) to gradually thrust upwards. This tiny movement will not be too noticeable to anyone targeting you but will move you out of their crosshairs enough to make many shots miss. Great pilots will tap their shift key as they are moving around to adjust their trajectory enough to frustrate any attackers.
  4. It's Galactic STARFIGHTER not light corvette or troop bus or light freighter. So, we have 2400 words in this thread saying one thing, learn to play. 1. Bombers kill scouts with their loadout. 2. Gunships are constantly moving, even while firing, at least good ones are. 3. Strikes can shrug off the lasers (if built right) and soak some of the missiles/rockets 4. Scouts are the worst at killing other scouts. They need to get angle and hope they can keep up.
  5. So they can charge you Cartel coins to buy tracks off the sithTunes store of course. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH Or subscribe to JediBeats
  6. But those players just spent 10 levels learning the basics of shooting at stuff. I'd wager around four hours. Not two minutes in a tutorial that is at best an afterthought. I do think the budget and the design where two very different things. The addition of new companions but no story and nothing beyond the very quick intro just screams content on the cutting room floor to me.
  7. These actual balanced matches make me want to atleast roll a new pilot elsewhere. But where?
  8. See I told you all it would only take an afternoon or an intern learning how to code in a week.
  9. You forgot about KUAT MESAS CORRIDORS OF DEATH! All inner facing mesa walls now have multiple untargetable railgun drones embedded under the surface! Flying into any of the inner rings means your annihilation by the map! THE WALLS FIGHT BACK!
  10. Like I said, what i'm asking for is an afternoon worth of work; what you're asking is significantly more. You have build all the who can enter logic and tools, if you limit it to group types sooner or later someone is going to need to be able to flip a toggle and make themselves or someone else in the group unfriendly. This adds a layer of complexity that would make it from a small thing for the community to an actual time investment of several days if not more. Currently I do what you're talking about in live matches and it works out fairly well. I cannot however help them learn beyond the very basic things unless I swap sides and ignore the actual game.
  11. You're one in a hundred, you don't have the attention span of a millennial; three seconds.
  12. Then what do you shoot at? You're asking for what is already there in the tutorial exept multiplayer, it will do nothing if you can't learn how to choose an attack plane and kill a target that is moving and fighting back. We're asking for the most simple easy way to get a training environment. I'll write the RFP for the dev lead, real fast, not product manager needed. 1. Use Lost Shipyard TDM 2. Replace powerups with drones, turrets and mines randomly. Mark everyone enemy. 3. Remove scoreboard and timer 4. Add a practice button to the hanger that adds the player to an existing instance or spawns a new one if there are none or are full. Kill any instances 2400 seconds after last exit. 4.a Add a conditional label if in the practice arena that notifies the user they need to hit esc to exit the battle. 5. profit? Like I said in my thread about this, I know heroscript fairly well, it would take me an afternoon to bang this out. An intern that does not know why you use a case in a select statement would take three days to write and unit test. This is the most cheap and simple way to give us what we need.
  13. T1 Scout LLC SabProbe Booster Recharge I actually will fly circles around bombers I hit with my sab probe before I hit them again and then kill them.
  14. If I was new and played one of those matches I would say the game was BROKEN for putting my completely green *** into that situation. Even if I spent 10 minutes in the horrid tutorial I would not have been prepared in anyway for a double premade from the same PVP and GSF focused guild. To say anything different is being destructively obtuse or trolling. You're usually somewhat constructive, bad morning?
  15. It's not the path really, it's the animation takes time and if you notice the animation and the numbers almost never sync. You need up dead waiting for something that in most cases happened two or three seconds before you see it.
  16. You're so not right. Ignore the animation they act just like lasers do. Here is how you you pods. 1. Get an angle on target, between 15 and 30 degrees off plane works great on anything, especially gunships and bombers 2. Tap your laser to check your aim. 3. If you got numbers hold down both buttons and fire missiles and lasers at the same time at the target 4. Rinse, repeat until everything around you is dead
  17. 1. Scouts live longer. They should have their shields adjusted, IE do away with the reactor. 2. We're taking ships not systems here. You have to take everything into account.
  18. He removed his wall of text brain dump that read like a conversation with himself and a urinal stall door. Somewhat unfortunate, he had some good ideas; however It was damn near impossible to grok.
  19. I have a great solition for this and it's take it outside the game because BioWare has abandoned GSF. I came up with a good way to do this. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=760146 Sorry about the person that crapped all over the thread. I don't know if it was that or genuine lack of interest but I did not get the 10 mentors I needed to sit down and code the thing. Maybe I need to revisit it.
  20. Maybe in your neck of the woods. They just need to die easier. No "scout" should take three fully charged rails HITS to kill. Not two protons, not six HLC hits. They need to lose survivabilty and make the burst be the ONLY thing the class of ship has going for it. Quads are mixed with pods at close range and do more burst than BLC and Clusters or BLC and pods. This statement says you don't play the ship. you should not talk about it in a authoritative way.
  21. He's not a goat! He's a damn bothan! http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bothan A shorthair bothan, his line must have evolved from, umm, boxers or pugs or something.
  22. Lets take today for example. My hanger is 1. T1 Strike, 17k ship req 2. T2 Strike, 0 ship req 3. T3 Strike, 1790 ship req 4. T3 GS, 35k ship req 5. T1 bomber, 118k ship req (ya working on strikes for achives) I have seen six matches start and finish and I've yet to get into one. All the players in the matches are either *new" or *intermediate* no *advanced* pilots. They have been matched each time to a double premade that destroy them. This is not healthy for the gametype, all those new players will simply never queue again.
  23. No and no and hell no. 1. Take the reactor off the ship and it's fixed. TIE fighters did not have shields, just saying.... 2. TT & BO are fine. They act the same way on other ships that use them with the same lasers, people don't ***** because they are not on a target that is hard to hit. 3.BLC is superposed to be the best LC on the ships that it can be bolted too but the best T2 pilots use quads. Imagine that, I just blew a BLC sized hole in your theory.
