  3. When they do, make sure they get said Lawyer to read the TOS first, that might save everyone from wasting their time.
  4. Well, the current line is "They listened to us, and came up with Merges to NA for the best playing experence" If they think Merges to NA is the best playing experience for us, then they lied about listening to us. If they actually listened to us then they are lying about it being the best playing experience. If you're correct about the non-economic viability of the APAC servers ( and I won't argue the point, wouldn't surprise me at all ), then the whole statement is a lie. You could argue it's merely left out some key information ( they listened, BUT CHOSE TO IGNORE US, and came up with merges to NA for the best playing experience ), but imho the exclusion is tantamount to lying anyway. If they came out and stated that it's not economically viable to run APAC servers, then so be it. I'd at least respect them for being honest. But as long as they continue with the "We listened" line, we're perfectly justified in pointing out to them that they really really didn't.
  5. Actually, I used to complain about ping all the time when I played wow, I can remember tanking Achimonde and having to catch his fear cast in enough time to let me switch stances and zerk rage, and the loss of 400-500 ms on a 1.5 second cast time made it feel like my eyes were bleeding. I guess I haven't complained much about ping in this game, OH WAIT, thats because I didn't have to.
  6. I've complete Ardis outpost post patch using the grade 6 ( rendili hyperworks )
  7. And yet a catch all solution is exactly what you are applying. The real problem here is the lack of a server transfer tool. With it you could have let those that wanted to transfer off to any server they like, and merged the rest into one server. Even allow free transfers from other servers back to APAC in an attempt to boost the population. ( Population balancing by use of free transfers has been well established in that other game ). Suddenly we would have a multi-faceted solution that would probably upset far less people.
  8. Yes, it's called an equipment manager. It useful to take the tedium out of switching out gear constantly because you are currently carrying 6 differing gear sets to handle the requirements of the different bosses you are going to face. And it's tedious because some of the gear you are carrying fits into multiple sets, and it's painful to try and remember exactly what you need on an item per item basis. It's happened to me lots before. Ideally it should be included in a quick switch spec system. but could stand on it's own. Yes it would be, but theres a distinction here, at least there is for me. You can generally find spare time to go off and research BIS gear and specs and rotations. Then you could set it all up beforehand in preparation. It's when you've been questing away merrily by yourself, and then join a group that turns out to be a tank and 3 dps that wants to go _right now_ that you want to quickly switch to a healer. Thats not a terribly good explanation, but BIS, specs, stat allocation and rotations are all theorycrafting. Changing specs quickly is setting up the interface to suit the role you are about to play. I'm not suggesting that a quick spec switch feature is one where you click a drop down list and select healer and it automatically creates the optimal spec for you. Rather a template system where you create the templates based off theorycrafting/research you've done earlier, that you can then switch to quickly.
  9. Then why did you feel the need to create a cheat sheet?
  10. So you've created your own out of game system because the in game one isn't adequate?
  11. Actually, I created my character with the knowledge it could be either dps or healer, and that it would be possible to switch between these roles. Granted that it is possible now, but why does it need to be "hard". If you want parts of the game to be hard, then it should be with challenging encounters, or difficult PVP battles, or even out of the way exploration. Why should the hard part be wrestling with the interface. Don't think of it as dual spec. Think of it as interface templating. The ability to switch your interface quickly and easily to perform one of the roles your character is capable of, and includes switching skills, bars, ability assignments, and gear. As for why it's needed. In my experience the conversation goes like this: random person: LF1M for <random heroic quest or somesuch> me: I'm in <joins group> rp: can you heal by any chance me: sure, just give me a couple of minutes to change specs and gear and sort my bars out. <10 seconds later> rp: ready yet? me: no <10 seconds later> rp: ready yet? me: no <10 seconds later> rp: ready yet? me: no <10 seconds later> rp: ready yet? me: no <rp bored with waiting pulls first group anyway> .....
  12. From The FAQ: Note the plural on transfers. Though you're right ( seeing I just got the email ) its only "character transfer" in the email. I'd say it's safe to assume nothing. After all we all assumed that first week of march notification about transfers meant the transfers would be available in early march, and this assumption was never corrected till the very last minute. Most likely we won't find out any details at all until the day the transfer goes active. That would be in keeping with the speed of information we are currently getting.
  13. Did you actually read what you quoted? Try to understand the difference between a new interior model, and interior customisation. Imagine you own a house. It's the difference between ripping a wall out and putting up new wallpaper.
  14. And for Solomace, the above is a perfect example of Tinfoil hat usage.
  15. You may be reasonable, but there are many who are not. If they say 2 months, and it doesn't appear in 2 months, then whatever explanation they give people will start speculating on various reason instead ranging from "Devs suck" to "they're secretly never going to implement x feature but don't want to tell us" Every time you see someone posting some tinfoil hat conspiracy as to why X feature isn't in game, or X bug isn't fixed - thats the reason we never get full details from the devs in advance.
  16. Yeah, that would be a good way to do it as well.
  17. The actual problem here imho is with the quest xp scaling. You receive too much xp for quests that are 3-4 level below you. Quests at your level give about the right amount of xp. But (for example ) if you complete every quest on tatooine with every quest being 3 levels below you, then hit Alderann with every quest 4 levels below you, then theres a problem. Reducing[1] the scaling would fix this without changing the amount of xp you get for quests at your level. 1. or increasing the scaling if you prefer: reducing the amount of xp for being over the quest level. [edit] I didn't actually word that very well so another way. If the normal progression is planet A -> planet B. And you are part way through the quests on planet A and are already such that you are 1 level ahead of the start of planet B, should the remaining quests on planet A allow you to get to the point that you are 2 levels ahead of the start of planet B.
  18. Actually, we were clearly told on the 21/12/2011 that there would be an Oceanic Release probably around the start of March with Local servers and maybe character transfers. Prior to that we had no idea whether it would be 3 months after US/EU release or 6 months or 12 months or 2 years ......... And there was zero information about local servers. Most speculation concluded that there was no way they would give us local servers. If they had released the same info 5-10 days prior to the US/EU release I would have quite happily not bought the game at that point and waited till it released here. I waited until 3 days before it released, at which point i got sick of waiting and ordered it off amazon. I even participated in the BestBuy chat that they conducted just prior to release, and asked, not when we would get an Oceanic release, but when we were likely to get information about about an Oceanic release. Subtle difference, but I figured it as my best chance to get a reply. However my question was rejected. At that point I went ahead and bought the game. If you consider that our best info suggested that whenever we did finally get the game released here we were still going to be playing on US servers, it's quite reasonable for people to want to be starting the game when everyone else on the server they would be playing on started and avoid feeling left behind. Personally I'm ecstatic that we're getting local servers, and plan to transfer across to them. But BW communication could have been a little better.
  19. Pod cast interview with Stephen Reid posted earlier says Oz, either Sydney or Melbourne
  20. When I was finishing off NS I saw a lot of people about the same level as me doing the same quests. It's not like it's hard to be that far overleveled. Do every quest, + every heroic. I stopped doing flash points after esseles and hammer station once each cause I was overleveling too far, and only did a few space missions when I first got my ship and then stopped for the same reason. Based on that evidence it is just as valid for me to say: Most people will finish Nar Shaddaa at level 28 as it is for you to say: Most people are not going to be lvl 28 when they finish Nar Shaddaa edit: oh and I purposely logged out outside of rest areas as well.
  21. It's a level 32 quest, but you can pick it up around 27-29. Can't remember the exact level. And yes, when I finished nar shaddaa I was level 27-29. ( it's 28 according to torhead, but I have no way of knowing if thats accurate. ) And yet, if you already have the nar shaddaa bonus series ( from NS npc ) then this is exactly what happens, you talk to 1 npc with no dialog and then get sent off elsewhere.
  22. Personally, I picked it up on nar shaddaa before I ever left there. The quest becoming available is based on your level. If you had just randomly gone back to the fleet at the correct level you would have seen the NPC with the quest there as well. It's not suddenly active because you are going back to finish chapter 1. You're trying to create a link between finishing chapter 1 and the nar shaddaa bonus series being available, but that doesn't exist.
  23. You can pick up the nar shadaa bonus series from a npc in the nar shadaa spaceport without ever having to go back to the fleet. The NPC on the fleet that tells you to go back to nar shadaa is completely independent from the chapter 1 -> chapter 2 transition npc.
  24. Wearing a tin foil hat that tight may result in brain damage.
  25. Yeah, I see your point here. I'd be curious though how much it is about breaking mind sets. One fundamental rule is that people don't like change. Even if the majority[1] of people who play mmo's spend the majority[1] of their time at end game, if you release a game that has little leveling content, how many will then rag on it simply because it's different? If the answer is lots[1] then how do you convince an investor to give you money for your new concept. 1. huge assumptions on my part
