  1. You idea would work worse than it does now. As it is implemented now, given a large sample of games, your rank will reflect your ability and the effect of your team mates will be averaged away.
  2. I laugh every time I think about this. When 2.4 hit, people quickly realized the power relics were bugged again and exploited them. A few days later the word got out about the absorb relics and now the hypocrites are out in force. Yes, the absorb relics are bugged. The power relics are bugged. These will be fixed long before the classes are balanced. So can you please cry less?
  3. I have only played 1 team ranked game since 2.4 launched. I still have this problem however. What happens in my case is the the highest score is not from my last session, but from the previous session. Somehow it does not get saved. http://imgur.com/MPZtP1n
  4. I disagree. I think everyone should use it until it's fixed. It's the only fair thing to do. Asking people to not use it just disadvantages them against those who do.
  5. No, learn enums, static polymorphism, and c++, then we can talk again.
  6. ...getting force pushed out of force barrier.
  7. Please explain to me why you are unable to play a large number of games? Convergence starts to show up around 50 samples. By the time you have played a few hundred games, you will (like it or not) be close to your correct rating.
  8. ^Solo Queue Myth#1 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers would like to speak with you.
  9. 1) In the long run, the large sample size removes the chances of being carried. 2) Being able to squeak a win out with a bad composition and/or weak teammate says just as much as being able to win with a perfect composition of superior teammates.
  10. What felt wrong to me was playing regs to get ranked gear. Team Arena is cool, but let's be honest, arena teams have a LONG history of queue dodging and team stacking to avoid actually having to compete against equally skilled teams. That's a LOT more wrong than anything going on in the solo ranked queue.
  11. You have a mara? I am play imp these days.
  12. I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to tell me.
  13. Full disclosure. I play sorc heals. Current rank ~1700. First, I know that I am not the best player nor is my rank high enough to warrant bragging, but I also wanted to preempt the "you must be a smash mara" and "you must be terribad" replies. I am really enjoying solo ranked arena. I know there are issues with bad match ups, quitters, class balance, role exploiting. However, my overall experience is that these things are not preventing me from having fun. I am still able to gain rank and as I gain rank, I am getting into some really good fights with better players. Please CONTINUE the work you started. This is a positive change for my PvP experience. People don't like losing, but most people can still have fun losing when it's an exciting fight. This is the essence of good PvP. Real PvP'rs know that PvP fight is a zero sum game. One teams wins. One team loses. Your job, Bioware, is to provide high quality PvP matchups so that even the losers go away satisfied. Ranked Solo queues are a big improvement in this respect.
  14. 1 Med pack is worth $0.006 is you consider the conversion rate.
  15. A hypercrate of packs costs 6912cc and typically sells for 250,000 credits each. Therefore 6912cc = 5,760,000 credits after commission. A stack of 99 WZ Medpacks or Adrenals typically sells for 60,000 credits. Therefore, you can buy 96 stacks with the proceeds of the sale of 1 hypercate of packs. Player economy value: 6912cc = 9504 WZ Adrenals or Medpacks ( 0.7272 cc each) Cartel market value: 200cc = 20 WZ Adrenals or Medpacks (10cc each) Bioware, How do you expect to sell these things when you are charging over 13 times the fair market value for them?
  16. Thank you. I was starting to think no one understands statistics.
  17. It's not ironic. It's called the law of large numbers. Here is a link to help you understand better. Might be a good idea to think before you stick your foot in your mouth next time Mr arrogant. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers
  18. The ONLY measure of individual skill comes from the solo queue. There is no way to prove your group rating didn't come from being carried. Also, a high solo rating will match you with other people with high solo ratings. Random people? Yes. bads? Not at the high end.

    Premade wz

2.4 arena will be solo vs solo and group vs group. Only bads being carried don't eventually get bored of pug stomping.
  20. First, I, like may people, was excited by the idea of 8v8 ranked warzones. However, the terrible matchmaking system was "meta'd" relentlessly by the playerbase and the system collapsed. The TDM style gameplay offered by 2.4's arena is not my first choice. I actually did like the objective gameplay of the 8v8 warzone. That said, what does excite me about 2.4 is the idea that SWTOR might actually have decent matchmaking. The idea of matching groups vs groups and solo vs solo is long overdue. I run in premades frequently and while winning might be better than losing, what I really crave is a good fight against people who are close to my skill level. I don't enjoy pug stomping because I feel that easy wins make me sloppy and degrade my game. For those who would respond that premade vs pug isn't a guaranteed win, maybe but it's a 90% win rate in my experience with the current badly matched system. That said, I also don't play on a regular schedule and when I play sometimes I simply can't play uninterrupted for hour after hour. When I solo queue, I'd much rather face other solo players who are near my level. So while I am not necessarily thrilled by TDM instead of objective based PvP, I am optimistic that the matchmaking improvements will make for more challenging games. I do realize that the queue may take longer to pop, but right now, I am thinking this is better than a fast queue pop for a boring lopsided game. I agree with most that the classes are terribly balanced for 2.4 arena. I also think that the conventional wisdom about which classes / compositions will dominate is probably wrong. I think Bioware knows this and I think they also know that they lack the insight to balance the classes at this point. I think they are waiting to see how things go with 2.4 because they simply have no other choice. TLDR; Blah blah opinion opinion.
  21. I agree with most of this. Well said.
  22. Until there is decent match making, I will continue to leave when I am teamed up with players who I know are bad or who demonstrate by their gear choice that they don't understand the basics of PvP. Derp fests are simply not fun.
  23. And I thought I was the only one who noticed that.
