  1. Yes, yes it did. It killed us all in a matter of hours. It is only though the force that I speak to you now.
  2. Found a thread there about faction switching. One big point was made as to why this wouldn't work before 50.. the storyline. Then expansions would have to have new story be faction neutral or something. so story telling could be bust.
  3. I think I might have saw something to that effect a while back in the suggestion box. I agree it would add quite a bit of dynamic to the game. All the repeatable quests, requiring light/dark points to participate, being able to Kill your own side (on a pvp server). It would really liven up the world.
  4. Sure did play EQ. In fact, speaking of EQ factions and coming from KOTOR, factions was probably my biggest disappointment with SWTOR. I thought for sure (around announcement) that the factions would be more like it was in EQ. I thought that the light/dark would determine your alliance or lack there of.
  5. Oh I really do miss some of the old stuff. My post was not meant in anyway to imply a SWTOR bash. The intent was more to better elaborate my own standing. Re-reading I can definately see how it might look like a defensive remark. So I apologize for that. Anyway, whenever a new MMO comes out I still always hold out hopes for ganking, real death penalties, an overall time investment to accomplish most things, and a balance of what Tor brings to the person who cant invest the time for heavy raiding. By that I mean the ability to get that level cap or achievement that the hardcore player got eventually. Funny one of the things I miss the most was max level players hung out in the level 20 zone beating on the lowbies and starting massive pvp fights waiting for the warzone to pop couse you could only que there. All for the sake of title. From what I remeber, pvp didnt even used to wield xp or any real money. I even miss the frustration of dying and losing that level, no longer being able to use the ability you trained for and/or that expensive gear.
  6. Even when your corpse couldn't be looted, I remember the LONG walks to get back to your gear. I remember traveling to be traveling. 20 minutes to walk to the next zone. No automated travel. Back then the game was what it was. you accepted it. Being level cap was an accomplishment in its own right. Do I miss these things? yes, would I like to see some of these old school elements introduced into TOR? Sure. But TOR as is, well that's good for me. I recognize that today's crowd does not have the patience to play lengthy games. But that is ok. The game is what it is and If I didn't like it I wouldn't play it.
  7. Ive taken the med center rez from instances before and walked back never losing progress. So that's a non issue. For those who haven't played yet, the 10 minute rez is only after you have died and had the droid rez you twice in a short amount of time. In this game, dying is nothing. If I had my way, death would be a lot worse than a 10 minute in place wait.
  8. I play in a dual screen environment. I used to achieve this same annoyance when I missed clicking on my right hand quick bar. I would click the desktop by mistake and end up sitting though the loading screen to find myself dead. Fixed it by playing in full screen windowed mode. Works like a charm. No more loading between desktop and game.
  9. If KOTOR 3 were to happen, They would not have abandoned it. it would have happened somewhere around 2006/2007.
  10. There have been several posts on this issue. So far I can't think of any official response on it. The best solution that I have seen proposed in my opinion is to bring back the use of the mod stations. Leave the pricing alone for modding your gear in the field. Have the mod station reduce the cost of mod removal. Otherwise I don't know about you, but I have found for the most part that the stat upgrade in shifting a mod from one piece to the next just isn't that big once you get established. So I tend to not pay and just destroy the old mod.
  11. That too It also explains why the FP's to me feel like they are missing something vs when I run though the Esseles.
  12. I too agree that this idea has too much potential for abuse. I can also far to easily see how this can render the value of social points worthless. I also agree that more avenues need to be given to obtain the points as well. Something like allowing people who have already completed the non repeatable quests to repeat them (in group) for reduced social points only.
  13. The problem with these types of issues is in the vast differences in hardware. My computer was designed with this very issue in mind. So my rig is over cooled and I never have temp issues. I suspect my evga bios bios does a lot to shift process management around too. I never see temps more than 42c on the vid and the cpu is even cooler than that. Short of rebuilding your rig I don't know what more to offer. I hear you though in that this game demands more from the rig. I can definitely feel the room heat up when I play SW. You just need to get the air out of your case.
  14. How about cross faction friends? I understand why you might not want active private communication. To be able to only "see" and get the "player is online" notice would be a definite plus. For me, this way when my friends come online I would know and could log off that character and log onto one that I can join them with. It also would help my reluctance to explore the other half of the game.
  15. I myself love the voice overs. I feel it's key to telling a good visual story. This I think TOR has heavily succeeded with.
  16. Well since there are not world destroyer's yet.. lets tweak your idea a little.. Have an empire and republic fleet engaged in battles moving about the galaxy. Space missions and temporary worlds upon the fleet ships with world pvp could make your idea work
  17. The action gameplay style is what I originally thought the game would be like when it was first announced. Similar to that of DC Universe Online. As fun as that is, that model is widely different mechanically from the roll the dice model this game is based on. As fun as that might be, I don't see a way to make that work with the current locked target style combat. I think it would quickly get out of hand given that these players could easily react faster than those locked to the current play style.
  18. I imagine it is because the servers are down and hence, your account/toon is unavailable. But setting up this kind of mini game would be a fun add on for a mobile device or general web interface when you can't play the game.
  19. I think Svenidol sums up the issue fairly concisely at the end of the post. We all recognize and accept that one group will have to deal with the weekly scheduled maintenance. The ISSUE IS that the same people get burned every time there is extra maintenance, and it happens frequently. This means people feel like they are paying for a product that they are not receiving. When the extra maintenance hits, make the crew have to suffer with us. Rotate the extra down time window, BW can eat the overtime, and players get a fair rotation of extra downtime (minus the normal Tuesdays pst). The Cube may not fit into this category, but I'm sure we can all find at least one extra preformed maintenance in the last 8 weeks that could have waited a couple extra days. Perhaps this will help curb administrating downtime for issues that really can wait until next Tuesday.
  20. This answer's my question. Now I don't feel so silly now that I know I wasn't just missing something. Thanks
  21. Ok, so I am not exactly a new player but there's one thing I haven't figured out how to do if it is even possible. So I confess as I put put on my dunce cap. I am having a little trouble using the map on two fronts. 1) when in a zone that requires the use of a lift, you get the up/down arrow symbol to the exit. I tried clicking the buttons but the map does not change to the next zone like it would if clicking on a zone exit/entrance. Is there a way (without backing into the world map) to shift to the next map level? 2)When fully zoomed out on the world map (showing the entire planet), can you click something to focus the map on a particular zone? Like in Nar Shaddaa going from planet map to looking at the red light sector when your at the spaceport.
  22. I too agree that account based friends list would be a positive. As for the opposite faction friends, others and my self have suggested it in the past. So far the only good opposing argument is the possible side effects of being able to chat with opposite factions via private conversations. I still think opposite faction friends is a great idea. If nothing else to simply see that a friend status is online, afk or offline. That or license Blizzards Real ID system.
  23. I can't remember where it was I saw this, But I found it most helpful. When A Dev (Moderator) or someone official responded to a topic the topic in the list changed. I think it would be helpful if a thread contained an Official response. Something like the topic title would change color or some other kind of marker would show in the topics list.
  24. It seems to me the groundwork is already there. We already see the overhead check mark when doing group quests. BW could use those. Green for ready, red for no and blank for afk or whatever choice. Maybe a double check for quest signaling. Right clicking your portrait could show ready options and turn the group check viability on and off as well. I'm down for adding a ready check tool. Even in 2 man groups the check can change to yellow or something if a group member has a window open. That way you would know that they can't see whatever the group is doing.
  25. I personally am super happy with it. Reading the other posts so far I only found two things to second. Otherwise I am content with it. Those things are some sort of grid option or method for x,y alignment, and being able to change the color scheme sounds like a fun idea. I am however, happy with the current color scheme as well.
