Can't login to Star Forge server

A number of years ago, while City of Heroes/Villains was still Live, people on the E. Coast were having endless trouble with Rikti invasions- unplayable lag, constant connection drops, etc. NC gave everyone the same basic boilerplate- it's your video drivers, it's your router blahblah.

Until some actual IT types who were also players started climbing their tree, giving their Uber specs, and insisting that it by God was NOT at their end, and that NC needed to shift themselves and get their house in order.

Turned out whoever they were using to carry their data was suffering from catastrophic backbone degradation, so everything E of the Mississippi was affected.

 

Not really NC's fault- except that they refused to listen to thousands of their subscribers...

 

Also not really germane here, just a story to pass the time :D

I wonder how long this will take. I don't play as much as I used to do, due to my exhausting schedule. I was excited to play and then saw the update for tomorrow, figured I'd get as much playtime as I can now. A bit disappointing as it's the only thing I have to keep me sane during the slow times at work (which its always so slow in the mornings..) :classic_sad:

I wasn't able to log in to Star Forge earlier today, and now I can't even get past the initial loading screen to get to server selection. My game is just sitting at the Desperate Defiance splash screen and the gear in the lower right just keeps spinning endlessly. Anyone else running in to this right now?

Same issue here. Can't get past the main loading screen each time. No effective workaround unfortunately.

I just tried to get into the game and it dropped me to server selection before telling me it was unable to connect to Star Forge. Restarted the game and now I'm stuck at the endless splash screen too

If other servers are up, how do I get to them since it normally comes to the character selection screen on Starforge for me. And I am assuming that anyone with a different default server isn't hung up.

How do you make it avoid Starforge completely so I can select a different server? It goes directly from Play to hanging on the splashscreen. or is everyone on all servers actually hanging?

Hard to understand who allows their CS interfacing to paying customers (that keep their jobs alive) to say nothing for this long. They obviously know they have said nothing, and they also know at least the category of the issue(s) involved. They should have said something hours ago beyond that very old X post.

Lol. just as I post this, Star Forge awakens. It is up now.
